Chapter 67 - Maybe having feelings is not a good thing after all

After giving out his blood Taiyi returned to the fire realm but he did not sneak into his wife's chambers rather he sneaked into his daughter's room. He found Tie Ling fast asleep. Staring at her beautiful face made Taiyi to feel a bit nostalgic as he remembered the events in the mortal realm where it was only the two of them. During those days they were inseparable and Taiyi taught his daughter everything he knew. He even brought her along as they travelled the world. Taiyi sat besides his daughter's bed. He made sure to hide his breath so his daughter could not perceive his presence but Taiyi was mistaken. As soon as he neared a certain distance he heard his blood surging and that was when his daughter who was asleep opened her eyed. Even with Taiyi hiding she could still see him. Although Taiyi could hide his presence he was still having trouble hiding his aura especially his bloodline. It was not under his control so when he neared his daughter there was definitely a resonance between them which was why Tai Ling woke up. Seeing that Tai Ling had already sensed his presence Taiyi chose not to hide any longer so he appeared before his daughter with his real appearance." Father, is that you?" Tai Ling asked as she threw herself into Taiyi's arms. Taiyi hugged his sobbing daughter with a gentle smile on his face. To Taiyi Tai Ling meant a lot to him as she was the only evidence left in this world of his existence. With her around even when he is gone he is sure that he can be remembered or atleast that someone will actually remember him with a proud smile on her face. Taiyi gently caressed his daughter's hair with a satisfied smile on his face. After a while Tie Ling stopped sobbing and broke free from her father's embrace after which she turned to stare at her father. Taiyi saw his daughter and started staring at her from up to down scrutinising her wanting to see how she had been during these years." Girl, how have you been?" Taiyi asked and he realised that it was a bad start but he didn't know what to say. He finally realised that he was not that good at saying sweet words. He finally realised that holding a sword was easier for a warrior than holding a pen to express his feelings. He might be able to flirt with Feng Jiu but when it came to his daughter it was different and he did not know what to do. His daughter lowered her head when she heard hee father's question." I have been well. What about you? Why didn't you come for me?" Tie Ling asked with tears in her eyes. She did not want to ask it in such a manner but she realised that she had no better way of framing her question. It was the same as just asking ," why did you abandon me?" but she couldn't ask that so she thought of a better way of framing it. Taiyi stared at his daughter and then wiped her tears. "I wanted to but circumstances did not allow for it. After coming back I had a lot of things to prepare for and I have a lot of responsibilities so I have to look for ways to increase my strength and that was my chance so I planned on breaking through first and reaching a much higher realm before coming to look for you or else they would find you. Only with absolute strength can I afford to be willful or else I can only be used again and I am not willing to be used again. I don't want that feeling of weakness where I am under someone's control. The heavens are never fair so it would definitely feel your presence but now I can hide your presence so I no longer have to fear it and I no longer have to fear them," Taiyi explained to his daughter. It was more of he trying to let her know that her father was now the strongest person in this realm and not even the heavenly dao can compare to him but even Taiyi was unsure of whether he was able to face off against the heavenly dao. Tie Ling stared at his father and was at a loss as she didn't know what to say. She knew that her mother was always hesitant when it came to her father." Why is mom so scared of you meeting me?" Tie Ling asked. "She is not scared of you meeting me rather she is scared of you meeting the old me or let's say the other me," Taiyi replied." What is the other you like?" Tie Ling asked as she stared at her father. It was normal for her to ask as just yesterday she was just a mortal who knew nothing of the cultivation world yet in just a few years she was now the daughter of the two strongest gods in the whole realm and it turned out her father was a former ruler of the six realms three seas and eight deserts and her mother happened to be the empress of a realm and was actually a legendary phoenix. A creature that she had only read about in legends and had been told stories of by her father when she was young so she had yet to adapt to all these changes but she was trying so she needed to understand the personalities of her parents as she didn't know if they were still the same parents she knew about. To her, her mother was a stranger as she never met him apart from the fact that her father told her stories of her and even showed her some pictures of her so seeing Taiyi today she suddenly realised that everything was real and what Feng Jiu told her was the reality. The man before her looked like her father and apart from his hair there was no difference at all. The eyes were the same and even the face was the same. After her bloodline activated her hair had also started to change to silver so seeing her father who had a silver hair and blue eyes she finally realised that she couldn't ignore it anymore. This was her real identity but she was still struggling to accept it. Taiyi looked at her daughter and sighed as he knew that she had yet to adapt to the changes." Look, I know it sounds weird but it's the truth and you have to come face to face with it. She is your mother and I am your father which is a fact. If you doubt it ask me what only he knows," Taiyi said." What is the other you like?" Tie Ling asked as he stared at Taiyi. Realising that he could not escape or change the topic Taiyi sighed before he answered." The other me is a stranger that you can't recognise but your mother and the whole realm recognises him," Taiyi said while staring at the roof. He did not want to face his daughter while speaking about it even though he knew that he had changed he was still unsure. His dao had evolved and he could now feel again but it just felt weird. Maybe that was just him and that is the main reason why he addresses the past him as 'the other me'. Maybe he was and is still is that person. By being heartless he dod not have to care but now he didn't know. Maybe having feelings was not a good thing after all.
