The moment they left, it was like a switch had been flipped. The fog, thick, suffocating, began to dissipate, rolling back as though it had never existed. The air around us felt strangely still, like the mountain itself was holding its breath. It wasn't comforting, though. Not for a second.
Tor's brows furrowed, his eyes scanning the clearing, the space around us. I could see the tension in his body, the way he kept glancing over his shoulder, as if expecting something or someone to appear from the depths of the mountain.
Without warning, he grabbed my arm and dragged me deeper into the caves. The cold stone walls seemed to close in around us as we moved, the dim light barely filtering through the cracks, but Tor's grip on me was unrelenting. He was pulling me into the unknown, into the heart of whatever was coming.
