"…Where is she?" he asked, his voice a little hoarse but sharp.
His assistant, who had just walked back into the room with a folder in her hands, froze when she heard his voice. She quickly turned toward him, her face looking a little nervous.
"She… she's gone," she said quietly.
The young man stared at her, his face unreadable. "What do you mean… gone?"
The assistant rubbed the back of her neck, clearly embarrassed.
"I-I'm sorry," she said quickly.
"I left the room to find out more about her, just like you told me to. I talked to the hospital staff, checked the front desk records, even went through some donation forms, but when I came back just now… she was already gone."
The young man didn't say anything.
He just looked at the empty bed again.
