Zane stood frozen, eyes locked on the figure now stepping through the broken glass. His mouth opened slightly, but the words caught in his throat. Celina looked different... older, dangerously calm. The flickering light of the chandelier above made her white hair glow like a ghost's veil. The smell of scorched flesh still hung in the air as Mallory's body twitched on the ground with the blame flame still not extinguished. Of course, it was a fake body. But, she can't allow that to be revealed. She hoped for the body to burn till it disappeared.
Rowena backed away, her chair scraping harshly against the floor.
"G-Guards! Someone call—!"
A wave of shadow swept through the room before she could finish. The candles flickered out. The door slammed shut behind her, sealed by Shadow magic. Rowena tried to scream, but her voice was stolen by a soundless barrier.
