An hour after Zephyr had carried Selene back, the air in the Alpha's study crackled with his fury. Zeeb and Xander stood by as Pardo, the prison guard, offered a pathetic bow.
"Again, My Alpha, i am deeply sorry." Pardo's gaze remained fixed on the floor, a smart move considering the storm brewing in Zephyr's eyes.
"I just stepped out for a smoke, sir. Left the door ajar, never expecting that something like this would happen… I am truly sorry."
It was a blatant lie, of course. Pardo had conveniently looked the other way, granting Isolde and Selene privacy for their usual meeting . But he did not want to implicate Isolde and he was scared of Dorianna.
Zephyr's voice was a low growl that promised pain. "Hand your badge to Zeeb. You'll face pack judgment, but until then, solitary. In the deepest cells."
Pardo's tight nod showed no surprise. He'd known the risks.
With an angry flick of his wrist, Zephyr dismissed him. Zeeb wordlessly escorted the former guard away.
