The morning sky was still a soft shade of pink and violet when Ruediger drove down the road, leading to WonderWhirl Park. Lariette sat beside him, humming along to the music played by the radio.
The digital clock displayed a quarter before eight. Unlike during the morning rush of the weekdays, the expressways were not congested with vehicles.
Turning around, Lariette stared at Ruediger's side profile. He was dressed casually in a beige long-sleeved shirt, worn over a coffee-colored round-neck T-shirt.
Ruediger opted for a dark-wash jeans and a pair of comfortable sneakers. Like Lariette, he also brought spare clothes, just in case he needed to change.
"Eddy."
"Yes?"
Ruediger glanced at Lariette, smiling at him. She didn't show any signs of being sleepy at all despite the early hours in the weekend. He returned his focus to the road ahead.
