Chapter 9 - Chapter 8 Heavenly Dog Swallows the Sun

Yun Sheng had long heard the hunters in the village say that the Green Wind Snake is non-venomous, but it can spit out a wind blade sharp as a knife from its mouth.

This is Yun Sheng's first time facing a Demon Beast directly.

Although she was elderly, considering her past life and this one, there was no such thing as Demon Beasts in her previous life.

Luckily, Yun Sheng was accustomed to life and death, her mental fortitude was solid. Panic lasted only a moment before she regained her composure.

A doctor, no matter the circumstances, must always maintain absolute calm.

Between her fingers, several more bone needles appeared, which unlike the earlier ones, were quenched with Mandela Juice, and each was tied with a Beast Tendon as thick as a little finger.

Her pupils contracted slightly, Yun Sheng accurately judged the trajectory of the wind blade, and lithely danced through the grass, dodging the incoming blade.

The first-rank Willow Leaf Green Snake, after spitting out a Wind Blade, needed to accumulate Wind Element again to spit out a second one.

Taking advantage of the moment when the Willow Leaf Green Snake's eyes glowed green as it accumulated Wind Element, Yun Sheng thrust the bone needles towards the snake's vital spot. With a "hiss", the Beast Tendons tensed like steel rods, and the needles gleamed with a cold light.

The previously proudly poised Willow Leaf Green Snake was now pinned to the ground by several bone needles, the tip of the needles penetrating its body, the anesthetic took immediate effect after a few struggles, and shortly after, the Willow Leaf Green Snake passed out.

Yun Sheng flicked her wrist, picked up the unconscious snake, and put away the bone needles.

She aimed at the gallbladder, and with a flick of the scalpel, the sharp blade sliced open, and a perfect gallbladder was extracted.

Yun Sheng washed the gall bladder with the clear water from the water bag she carried, and then swallowed it directly.

The gallbladder entering her body, a sensation both hot and cool arose from her abdomen.

The gallbladder nourishes the Yin and solidifies the essence, and for Yun Sheng, who was currently weak and lacking in nutrients, it was undoubtedly a tonic.

After extracting the gallbladder, Yun Sheng then skinned the snake, its belly empty.

"It looks like this is just a one-year-old Willow Leaf Green, pity, there's no soul stone that the hunter uncle mentioned," Yun Sheng's little face fell.

In Banana Leaf Village, hunters are much wealthier than medicinal farmers, their houses are mostly stone cottages with tiled roofs.

The reason being that hunters can go into mountains to hunt wild beasts and even some low-level Demon Beasts.

Every part of a Demon Beast is valuable, in addition to Demon Beast Skin that can be used to make various armors, Demon Beast Meat that can be sold, the most valuable parts are surely the Demon Beast Bone and Demon Beast Soul Stone.

Demon Beast Bone is the best material for making Magic Bone Staffs and weapons, and the uses of Demon Beast Soul Stone are even more varied.

It can be embedded in a Magic Bone Staff to increase the condensation and usage of Magic Elements. It can also be used to replenish the Magic Elements depleted by mages, and even, as legends say, if you're lucky, some Demon Beast Soul Stones might also contain Magic Skills and Martial Arts.

The price of such soul stones is indeed high.

Unfortunately, both Demon Beast Bone and Demon Beast Soul Stone are rare treasures, only Demon Beasts older than ten years can grow into Beast Bones that can be used to make at least the lowest level Magic Wands and weapons.

As for the Demon Beast Soul Stone, the Beast Age needs to be several decades or more before there's a chance to obtain one.

Most first-tier Demon Beasts are around five years old, while only second-tier or even third-tier and above can reach ten years or even decades of Beast Age.

With her current strength, Yun Sheng can handle a first-tier Demon Beast, but if she encountered a group of first-tier or a second-tier Demon Beast, she would be at a disadvantage.

Yun Sheng repeated the process, and after scouring Thousand Beast Tomb Mountain, she killed a few Willow Leaf Green Snakes and gathered some common herbs to strengthen the body.

Unfortunately, she had yet to find the legendary Moonlight Grass that could change her Magic Physique.

"It's almost noon, better head home first, if father can't find me at the village chief's house, there would be trouble," Yun Sheng started her descent down the mountain. Just then, the sky grew dark.

Yun Sheng looked up and saw a vibrantly colored red cloud drifting in the sky.

The cloud was a brilliant red, stubbornly lingering over Qianshou Mountain for a long time without dispersing.

The sky seemed as though it would collapse at any moment, the cloud thrashing wildly in the sky.

Like the sea surface swept by a storm, the air became very oppressive, bearing the suffocating feeling that normally precedes a summer downpour.

Could it be that the weather was about to change?

Yun Sheng couldn't help but hasten her pace; the sky grew darker, a gloomy stretch ahead.

Even with the aid of Shennong's Eyes in the Subtle Realm, Yun Sheng could barely make out the path ahead.

On the sun, a shadow appeared, gradually expanding as if something was swallowing the sun.

As the sun was devoured, a red cloud in the sky eerily moved towards the horizon, as if avoiding something.

In Banana Leaf Village, the villagers, seeing such a celestial phenomenon, were frightened and hid in their homes.

"The Heavenly Dog is devouring the sun, it's the Heavenly Dog devouring the sun, quick, hide! If discovered by the Heavenly Dog, we will be eaten," in Banana Leaf Village, every household hid inside their houses.

Yun Sheng walked through the mountains, witnessing the strange spectacle of the Heavenly Dog devouring the sun herself.

It was just a solar eclipse. Yun Sheng, armed with modern scientific knowledge, was not panicked by the scene.

She struggled to recognize the path, hurrying downhill.

Suddenly she stumbled, as if stepping on a tripping tree root, and Yun Sheng, along with her medicinal basket, rolled down the mountain.

She deviated from the mountain path, tumbling down, not knowing into which corner of the mountain she fell, only to hear a loud "bang".

Yun Sheng's head hit something hard.

After a bout of dizziness, when Yun Sheng opened her eyes again and saw the surroundings clearly, she found a shining glow in front of her.

"What is this? Moonlight Grass!" Not far away, a patch of delicate grass, soft as moonlight, glowed like fireflies in the darkness.

This sizable patch of Moonlight Grass was growing on a raised mound of earth, where the shape of a grave could vaguely be seen.

Yun Sheng's head had struck an unknown grave's tombstone.

The entire tombstone was cracked from the impact, and blood trickled down Yun Sheng's head.

This must be the unknown Beast Tomb.

The Beast Tomb was desolate, as if no one had visited in a long time.

Yun Sheng, a doctor in her previous life who had dealt with the dead countless times, was not averse to graves.

No wonder the villagers never discovered Moonlight Grass when they went into the mountains.

Moonlight Grass, only visible at night when there is no light.

With Moonlight Grass, one could enhance their Magic Physique.

Yun Sheng was secretly thrilled, protected by the Shennong Medical Bracelet, she wasn't concerned about the wound on her forehead, quickly checked with her hand to make sure it was nothing serious, and then started to collect mature Moonlight Grass and its seedlings.

Only when she had harvested most of the Moonlight Grass in the area, filling her medicinal basket, did she stop.

At this time, the dark clouds in the sky gradually dispersed, the celestial phenomenon of the Heavenly Dog devouring the sun ended, and the sun emerged again.

Yun Sheng noticed that the Beast Language ring on her hand was also smeared with fresh blood, seemingly touched when she was testing the blood from her forehead.

"Huh? How did the mud on the ring suddenly clean off, is this a totem?" Yun Sheng wondered as she looked at the ring on her hand, which had an ancient hue and become very clean, engraved with a symbol resembling a beast's head, though she couldn't tell exactly what animal it was.

No matter, she thought, first to get off the mountain.

Today, Yun Sheng had quite a fruitful harvest, happily descending the mountain.

Shortly after Yun Sheng left, from the mound where she had harvested the Moonlight Grass earlier, in front of the unnamed Beast Tomb, the tombstone suddenly collapsed.

From the mound-shaped tomb, a weak roar sounded out.

A small shadow, struggling, emerged from the Beast Tomb.
