Chapter 133 - Compromising - Chapter 7

"So, he used to take care of you?"

"Well, the whole village practically. I was well looked after, to be honest."

"Even so, your arms and body look as if you'd been through some trails."

"Yeah, but I had him and my caretaker take care of me. So no worries haha."

"That sounds…nice."

Dante glanced at her once more, noticing the wet clothing and her slightly trembling. Considering their talk, he knew close to nothing about Iris personally. Since they had nothing but time to waste being stuck within the caverns. What better time to learn more about one another than waiting to heal and drying their wet clothing?

"I'm going to continue healing you, just give me a moment to sort out…"

"Hey, could you take off your cloak?"

"What–"

"Just take it off, it's drenched."

"Even so! You don't just ask a girl to do something out of the blue like that!"

"I don't really see a problem…"

Suddenly a wet slap was heard as the cloak hit his face. He took a moment before pulling it off of his face and looking to see Iris turned away from him, holding her arms close to herself. He sighed with a smile as he followed suit in taking off his drenched cloak and wringing them out tightly. The water began to fall from the cloaks and dropped on the ground, with the sound of droplets hitting the ground.

Dante reached into his pouch and felt through the bag. Disappointed by the crushed vials he had, he reached for something else within the messed up pouch.

"There it is."

He then pulled out small crystalline rocks, which seemed to serve a purpose other than looking pretty. Iris glanced over her shoulder slightly, catching a glimpse of what he was doing. He placed the rocks on the ground before drawing his sword once more. She stared intently at the sword, never seeming to have noticed the design of it as it'd been something she'd never seen before.

"What is he doing…?" she thought to herself before he quickly swung his sword downward. Igniting the rocks with a bright flame. It caused the area to fully become encased in a warmth that was instantly felt. She was surprised by the spontaneity shown, but also the effects of such an item.

"Where did you get such an item? It seems quite handy."

"Oh these? From my sponsor."

"You have a sponsor? I would've never known…"

"Well, you never asked now did you?"

"...Fair point…"

The crackling of the rocks continued as the flame began to dry their clothes and cloaks. The two rested as they sat next to one another near the flame, watching its embers flicker from side to side. The silence of the cavern in the passing moments made it unbearable for Iris to stay quiet, as she'd never been stuck in a situation like this. Especially with someone like Dante.
