Jole looked up towards his guards,"Leave us alone. We have important bussiness to discuss."
Guards bowed before making their way outside.
Slam
"By whose authority is the so-called 'Princess of Fools' a queen?" He spoke, not with mockery but genuine curiosity.
"By Authority of Almighty Father, there will be no resistance."
Jole looked at her in disbelief,"She is a woman, you know? It is not that I oppose changing of ruling party but... it goes against our whole system."
Raguel leaned onto the table, bringing her face closer to the noble.
"Your system will be dismantled by Father's will. It is your duty to make sure you adjust before being destroyed."
"Such a gal, You come in my home and threaten me without even a weapon. Is your confidence that high?" Jole's lips curled into a soft smile.
Raguel merely stared.
"I do like dangerous women like yourself." He tapped with his finger, "House Topaz is not against installing a female ruler."
He took a moment before continuing, "I myself only have daughters. If the system is changed so that they may be in a position of power, I would gladly support Aurelia."
"To answer the summons, I will meet with Aurelia. I assume Avaros is dead if she is on the throne?"
Raguel nodded.
"What about Ayano, the heir?"
"Dead."
"...And was it truly sickness that killed them or Aurelia herself?"
"They were dealt with by Father," Raguel admitted. This noble seemed truly genuine.
With a soft smile, Raguel spoke, "Avaros and Ayano wished to kill Aurelia..." She looked up for a moment,"How foolish it is to go against Father's will."
Jole's brows furrowed, "How... The Palace is more protected than most Fortresses."
"No mortal may stand against father..."
Jole sighed, "Also, Lady Raguel...I must ask why do you keep referring to people as mortals? Are you not a human?"
"No."
"Then?"
"I am Supreme Angel."
Raguel clicked with her tongue, "What you see now is merely a form most fit to deal with humans, pray that my true form is never revealed."
"It's not that I am doubting you... But what is an Angel?" he lifted his head to meet her eyes.
He could sense she was not lying, sheer power he could feel threatened to crush him.
"A good question... We are heralds of Father's will. Created by his will. And living by his will alone." She spoke with reverence.
Jole nodded, "So it is not demihumans she had allied with, as House Sapphire had said."
Raguel raised her eyebrow, "Of course not, the First Star will never ally with Demons."
Jole tapped, "Good, I am glad I haven't rushed to conclusions like many would."
Raguel wore a surprised look on her face. This human was very calm and understanding.
Had she misjudged the nobility?
No, she had not. House Sapphire made itself hostile already. Jole was merely an exception, someone who would bend the knee and accept Father instead of being purged.
It warmed her heart.
Her lips curled into a small smile once again, 'To think I would feel happiness about being wrong.'
As The Judge, she could read people like an open book the moment she saw them.
"It is truly wonderful that you are so receptive." She leaned closer, "But I do wonder why?"
Jole tilted his head slightly, "Because the current system doesn't allow my daughters to be anything more than some noble's pet."
His fists clutched as he spoke through his teeth, "They would never be able to join the senate or become rulers... they are to be reduced to some noble's breeding sow."
"Of course I would support a change if it brings my daughters a better life, I would offer everything I own." He spoke, a single tear sliding down his face.
Raguel tapped her cheek, "What an admirable man. I am truly impressed, Please meet with Aurelia as soon as possible. We will talk soon."
With those words, Raguel disappeared.
'What a woman...' Jole stood up and walked to a shelf.
His fingers slid across a small leather-bound book, a diary of his late wife.
A woman who came into his home to threaten him reminded him of her very much, one of the reasons he did not panic.
It reminded him of how he had met his first love... With her barging into his office to demand audience.
Unfortunately, she had died when she gave birth to his 3rd daughter, a tragedy that left them without a mother.
It had been over 6 cycles since then...
'And now I just got reminded...' A small chuckle escaped his mouth.
He wondered about one thing: would his daughters approve if he went after Raguel?
Despite his first daughter being 16 cycles old and thus an adult, she would surely appreciate her father marrying again.
He approached his chair once again before slumping down.
"She seems like she would make a good mother." He nodded.
It was decided that Jole would make his visit to Aurelia and offer support of House Topaz.
He would support anything that dismantled a system where his beloved girls couldn't become someone important.
He was perhaps only duke who would do so as he was only one who did not enjoy a system where only men ruled.
Perhaps if he had male heirs, he would have been more open to the idea of resistance but he couldn't resist.
When he died, his daughters would remain in such a system, it was unacceptable.
It was not the time to be greedy.
It was one opportunity to support the first queen of Valar.
'If I play my cards right, my darling girls will certainly be able to even become the queen's advisors.' His lips curled into a warm smile, "I have given them the finest education I could; I am so glad it will not be wasted."
His fingers approached the candle that lit his table before extinguishing it.
It was time to prepare a visit to the first female ruler in history.
