Chapter 27 - I Just Want to Eat Chicken

Chloe Otto cannot be taken away.

Fyren is being held hostage by Xena and can't act forcefully to kick Chloe out.

Chloe herself currently has no intention of leaving Fyren, nor does she feel any inner desire to be with Felix. Not only does she not want to leave at this moment, but she has even secretly vowed to do her utmost to repay her great benefactor... Fyren.

Meanwhile, Otto realizes his image in Chloe's mind doesn't seem firmly established.

At this point, it can be said that Chloe, Fyren, and Otto are all completely clueless.

All three are operating under complete misinformation, each with their own blind spots in perspective.

Having listened to Fyren's heart for the past two days, Chloe mistakenly combines this information with Fyren's previous actions to analyze the situation.

The conclusion she reached could have made Fyren spit out three and a half pounds of blood.

Instead of following the original plot by hating Fyren, she feels grateful and believes Fyren is pretending to be a villain when he's actually a wonderful, magnificent person.

Additionally, the girl seems to have developed some inexplicable subconscious pleasure about being bullied by Fyren.

She isn't even aware of it herself - it just manifested in this strange way.

So when Fyren suggested she leave with Otto, and Otto was willing to take her, she felt intense internal resistance.

"I've just discovered Fyren's charms! I've just found hope in my life! And now you want me to leave?

Hell no!

I'm not going with anyone!"

Otto finds himself equally baffled.

According to the original plot, he was supposed to be the light in Chloe's long dark night.

He genuinely believes he's appearing in Chloe's life as a savior, addressing her two greatest pain points:

Her mother's illness and her hatred for her psychopathic boss.

He expected her to cling to him like a drowning person grasping at a lifebuoy.

What he doesn't know is that Fyren has already - through mistakes and accidents - completely illuminated and reignited Chloe's life ahead of schedule.

He can't comprehend whether Chloe is sick or what - why won't she let go of her painful past and embrace a new beginning with him?

It's utterly bizarre.

But the most confused of all is Fyren.

He's completely lost, unable to distinguish north from south, east from west, up from down.

Everything's gone haywire.

He doesn't understand why Chloe insists on staying by his side to suffer;

He can't figure out why Xena keeps working against him, forcing him to make decisions that don't serve his best interests, or how she always knows his plans and interferes at every turn.

Most perplexingly, he doesn't understand why Otto is such a loser.

"Seriously bro, aren't you supposed to be the male lead?"

Shouldn't the male lead be powerful and invincible, crushing anyone in his path, instantly charming the female lead, and having his admirers fawn over him—so much so that he can't wait to take them down the very same day?

But Xena ruined everything, Chloe changed her mind, and Otto turned out useless…

If things keep going like this, we're really doomed.

Three days!

The longest survival record from the previous six attempts was just three days.

Could three days really be my limit?!

Otto made a fool of himself and had to leave in disgrace.

But he hadn't given up.

I'll definitely be back.

...

Fyren received a phone call—surprisingly, it was Elton Leng, inviting him over for dinner.

Fyren already had a rough idea of what this was about. Most likely, it concerned the engagement—or rather, the money behind it.

Elton treated his daughter as a bargaining chip. After all, Fyren had once adored Eliza, chasing after her for three years. Now, if he agreed to take her, he'd have to return the favor one way or another.

Specifically, the Zhang family's financial resources—which Fyren controlled—would have to bail out the Leng family.

But this was Otto's job! He couldn't interfere!

Never!

Having made up his mind, Fyren returned to the company first to arrange some work before heading to the Leng residence.

When Fyren arrived, Elton Leng unexpectedly came out personally to greet him.

"Aigoo, Fyren's here!"

Fyren quickly stepped forward and shook his hand. "Hello, Uncle."

"Haha, no need for formalities among family. Come inside!"

The hospitality this time was absolutely top-tier.

Elton Leng gave Fyren full face, and even Mrs. Leng came out to chat with him. For a junior like Fyren, this was an exceptionally high level of respect.

Fyren felt uneasy, but today was the perfect opportunity to make things clear.

He had to act fast—cutting ties with the Leng family, or more precisely, cutting ties with Eliza.

The Leng family would never fall. With Otto, the chosen one, waiting in the wings, their future was secure.

Their fate isn't my concern—and frankly, I couldn't care less.

The dinner had the warm atmosphere of a family gathering—not extravagant, but cozy. The focus was on making Fyren feel at home, emphasizing the closeness of family.

They had just exchanged a few pleasantries when Eliza returned.

As she stepped inside, she asked the maid, "Nanny, do we have guests?"

The maid smiled. "It's the young master who came to visit."

Eliza was surprised - apparently she hadn't known her father invited Fyren beforehand.

When Fyren saw Eliza, their eyes met and he was instantly smitten.

Fyren realized the female lead truly lived up to her reputation.

He himself really did have the potential to be a scumbag villain.

He was truly the type to fall for someone new at first sight.

Just at noon, he'd been admiring his sexy little secretary, marveling at how Chloe was such a unique creature - thinking she must offer wonderfully special ways to play, with every aspect of her being more expandable and entertaining than an ordinary girl's.

Now seeing Eliza, his heart was powerfully stimulated once again.

Eliza was truly beautiful.

How beautiful?

Queen-level beautiful.

The kind where when she's present, all other women become mere side dishes. No exaggeration - none at all.

Eliza's beauty was perfection incarnate - exquisite. More than just a pretty face, it could be said there were barely any in this world that could surpass hers.

Her beauty was of the graceful, majestic variety.

Forget about those delicate little flowers, those agile and cute types, those pure and innocent looks, those sexy little wildcats... they're all just sisters compared to her.

In front of Eliza, they're all just sisters.

Eliza was so beautiful it seemed unreal, so perfect she seemed beyond human.

And that was just her face.

Her body was even more unbeatable!

Eliza didn't have that TV model physique with stick-thin legs and collarbones protruding sharply from the neck down - that exaggerated, bony thinness. Nor was she the type with visible fat - no soft belly or thick thighs.

Her body was as invincible as her face.

Tall and sexy, perfectly proportioned - with full, rounded hips, shapely thighs, slender calves, and ankles perfectly balanced between thickness and thinness - enough to make any man's nose bleed.

At the same time, she had that healthy, voluptuous fleshiness... carrying that uniquely feminine charm that filled people with desires to explore, possess, and play.

It seemed that being one or two pounds thinner would lose this effect, and one or two pounds heavier would ruin it too.

Her figure was like an artist's perfect proportions - it seemed scientifically impossible for a real person to grow this way.

But most rare of all was her temperament.

A temperament Xena didn't have, Cora didn't have, Chloe didn't have... not even any of the celebrities Fyren knew - European, American, Chinese, Japanese or Korean... possessed it.

This was the true paradigm of a queen.

The genuine aristocratic model.

It was overwhelmingly regal!

Fyren, with the memories of "original Fyren", would be lying if he said he wasn't moved.

Even without those memories, the only requirement for a man's heart to race for Eliza was simply to see her.

If you don't have a crush on Eliza, you're not a real man - there must be something wrong with you.

Unless you've donated your eyes, or been beaten into a vegetative state, or undergone surgery - especially that particularly successful procedure in Thailand where everything got neatly removed.

Otherwise, it's impossible not to be affected.

When Eliza saw Fyren, she felt a surge of joy in her heart. Surprisingly, she broke into a smile: "Fyren, you're here!"

"Oh! Yes, yes, I'm here."

Fyren didn't realize he was staring at her mesmerized.

[Damn, I haven't dared to look at her properly these past few days. Now that things are temporarily safe, I'm letting myself relax a little.]

[This woman shouldn't be looked at too much - if you stare into her eyes, you'll never be able to look away.]

[What a sin! How can you walk around looking like this without making all the women in the world hate you? Wait, do I have a nosebleed?]

Hearing Fyren's sincere internal praise of her, Eliza felt extremely pleased and happy.

Elton Leng observed the scene: This clearly shows promise. Fyren's practically devouring my daughter with his eyes. Look at him - if Eliza's mother and I weren't here, this kid would probably have pounced on her already. Why does Eliza say he's unwilling? Does he want her without paying the price?

The "family of four" sat down to eat and chat.

Of course, they began with pleasantries - asking about each other's companies, how the recent acquisition was going, whether it was profitable, how his parents were doing, and so on.

During the conversation, Elton Leng secretly observed Fyren and became even more confident in his judgment - Fyren wouldn't disappoint him.

He's definitely a horndog!

No doubt about it!

This little bastard keeps stealing glances at my daughter whenever he gets the chance. You're telling me you're not interested? Who are you trying to fool?

How many years have I been on the road? You've only driven a few manuals? You think I can't tell what kind of driver you are?

Elton Leng smiled and said, "Fyren, our engagement is set for the 10th of next month. How are your preparations coming along?"

Fyren immediately snapped back to reality.

What a sin!

He really couldn't let go now - not in a million years.

Giving up such a beautiful girl to Otto would be like killing himself!

But there was no choice - he needed to remember why he was here.

This wasn't some romantic dating sim, but an extreme survival game.

His goal wasn't to increase intimacy with the heroine and eventually bed her, unlocking various positions and play styles.

Rather, he had to utilize every resource and method available to stay alive until the end, get lucky, and "eat chicken" tonight!

In this game, you're not the carry. This game has a big brother - and he's on the opposing team.

Your job is to make sure that when the enemy carry goes top lane, you stay bot; when he comes bot, you feed him your minions, towers, and jungle creeps!

The carry will definitely snowball - him getting fed one more or one less short-lived ghost in top lane doesn't matter. You're insignificant to the carry!

But it's crucial for you!

So the smart play is to loiter in the jungle, killing neutral creeps to pass the time.

Don't care if your teammates flame you - only you know you're not even playing the same game as them!

When the carry eventually snowballs and pushes to victory, you just squat in the fountain applauding, begging the carry to queue with you next game.

Don't do anything else - one wrong move and the carry might take your head for his next item.

Fyren sighed.

Such is my miserable life.

At that moment, the butler came to announce: "Sir, a Young Master Long requests an audience."

"Young Master Long?"

"Yes, named Otto. He says... he has insider information worth over two billion dollars to share with you."

Fyren's brain immediately buzzed.

Big brother... Now you're not just stealing from home, you're fountain camping!
