Silence.

S.H.I.E.L.D. agents who had escaped from their headquarters stood frozen, watching as dust filled the air. Their eyes locked onto the towering building, riddled with cracks yet still standing strong. They swallowed hard.

They had never encountered an attack like this before.

But their headquarters was proving to be unbelievably resilient, withstanding such a brutal assault.

"Stay alert!"

A calm female voice crackled through their communicators.

Maria Hill stood at a distance, eyes fixed on the gradually quieting building as she issued commands with precision and composure.

Suddenly—

With an explosive crash, a figure burst through the wall like a tank, appearing before the agents.

He was massive, his muscles knotted like steel cables. His ordinarily simple, honest face was now twisted with murderous intent, making him look downright terrifying.

The moment he emerged, a hailstorm of bullets rained down on him. The agents didn't hesitate—they fired everything they had.

But no matter the type of bullet, the moment it struck his skin, it flattened into a useless metal disc and fell to the ground.

In just moments, the ground was littered with spent ammunition.

"Huff!"

The Colossus exhaled deeply, grinning menacingly as he eyed the agents surrounding him. Then, with a slight bend of his knees, he charged forward like an unstoppable force.

But—

A flaming missile struck him square in the face.

"Boom!"

Fire engulfed him, and the explosion sent him flying backward, slamming hard into the building behind him.

Before he could recover, an overwhelming barrage of firepower swallowed him whole.

At that moment, a group of mutants, led by three remaining captains, surged out of the building.

Above them, Erik soared into the sky. Under his control, countless metal fragments gathered, forming a protective shield around the mutants. Incoming attacks aimed at him froze midair, suspended by his power.

Within seconds, a massive sphere of bullets had formed around Erik.

Expressionless, he casually crushed the missiles flying toward him. Then, with a mere flick of his hand, all the bullets reversed direction.

Hill's face darkened as she shouted, "Take cover!"

The seasoned S.H.I.E.L.D. agents needed no further prompting. At the sight of the bullets poised to fire back at them, they instinctively dove for cover.

One second… two seconds…

Erik silently counted in his mind, giving them just enough time to scramble before unleashing the deadly storm.

In an instant, the sky turned black with bullets. However, their killing power was... underwhelming.

Still, the relentless suppression gave the mutants the upper hand.

As soon as the barrage ceased, Sonic dashed forward. Stretching out her arms, she clapped her hands together with a deafening boom!

A shockwave burst from her palms, sweeping toward the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. Those closest to the blast were torn apart instantly, while the rest were sent flying.

On another front, Fire Toxin's hands blazed with flames. With a fierce push, he hurled a massive fireball into the crowd.

"Hah!"

Laughing wildly, he launched another fireball high into the air. The moment it reached its peak, it exploded into a fiery rain, cascading down on the agents below.

"Sizzle, sizzle!"

Despite being flames, the moment they touched the ground, they left behind corrosive burn marks, continuing to smolder violently.

"Die!"

With a furious roar, the battered and bombarded Colossus regained his footing and resumed his relentless charge.

Just then, a barrage of energy blasts streaked through the air.

A mutant barely managed to dodge by diving to the ground. The earth before him was torn apart by an unseen force, rising like a makeshift shield. Another mutant reinforced it with a barrier, blocking the incoming energy rain and protecting those behind him.

Suddenly, the ground beneath a mutant's feet rippled like water. Without hesitation, he leaped in—vanishing before anyone could react.

Seconds later, a pair of hands emerged from the soil beneath two S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, yanking them into the earth.

However, the agents quickly regained their composure. The moment the ground trembled again and those hands reappeared, they tossed several grenades into the pit.

"Boom!"

The explosion tore the ground apart. The mutant lurking within was reduced to a mangled, bloody mess.

A deadly rain of toxic fire poured down, sweeping toward the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents wielding energy weapons. Meanwhile, Sonic clapped her hands repeatedly, sending shockwaves exploding through the air like rolling thunder, blasting the agents away.

Maria Hill stood amidst the battlefield's chaos, her gaze as calm as ever. Without hesitation, she waved her hand.

Several specialized armored vehicles, equipped with sonic weapons, rolled onto the field. The moment their weapons activated, continuous waves of high-frequency sound blasted forth like artillery fire.

Several mutants caught in the sonic onslaught trembled violently as their bodies convulsed—then, with a sickening burst, they exploded into pieces.

"Magneto!"

Fire Toxin's eyes widened in alarm at the sight.

Erik's expression darkened. With a swift motion, he clenched his fist toward one of the sonic armored vehicles. A groaning, metallic screech echoed as the vehicle was crushed in an instant. With a flick of his wrist, the shattered metal fragments swirled under his control, reforming into a massive, spinning buzzsaw. With terrifying speed, the whirling blade shot toward the remaining sonic vehicles.

"Nice one!"

Sonic let out an exhilarated shout. "Take them down!"

The battlefield plunged further into chaos.

Hovering above, Erik watched the relentless bloodshed below, his eyes filled with sorrow.

Damn that Black Queen!

This war should never have happened!

This wasn't how their plan was supposed to unfold.

Wait—where was she?

His face changed.

Before he could locate her, a swirling portal suddenly appeared in the midst of the S.H.I.E.L.D. ranks. Several figures stepped out from within.

They wore striking yellow-and-black combat suits—standing out starkly even amidst the battlefield's turmoil.

The moment Erik saw them, he exhaled in relief.

Finally, they're here!

Charles Xavier and his team took in the carnage before them, their expressions grim.

And this… this was after barely a two-minute delay.

If they had arrived any later, how many more lives would have been lost?

Thank God I sought my father's help.

Charles whispered the thought to himself.

When the aircraft had crashed, Nick Fury had contacted them, revealing the Black Queen's true objective: S.H.I.E.L.D. itself.

But even though Charles and his team were already in New York, even traveling at full speed aboard their jet wouldn't get them there in time. The battle would have been over before they arrived.

Faced with no alternative, Charles had turned to Mac for assistance.

Wearing his mask, Mac had answered the call. With a gesture, he opened a portal, allowing them to step directly onto the battlefield.

Charles and Erik exchanged a glance in midair.

"Everyone! Fight!" Charles commanded.

With a feral roar, Wolverine was the first to charge forward.

Hank McCoy transformed, his body shifting into the towering, blue-furred form of Beast as he leaped into action right behind him.

A scarlet energy beam sliced through the battlefield, carving through the chaos. Agile as ever, Remy LeBeau—Gambit—darted through the fray, his charged playing cards igniting with pink energy before erupting in powerful explosions that sent enemies flying.

From the shadows, Hawkeye silently observed, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.

Meanwhile, Jean Grey and Ororo Munroe—Storm—stood firm, momentarily shaken by the battlefield's brutality but unwavering in their resolve to protect Charles.

Charles' eyes sharpened with focus. Raising two fingers to his temple, he let his telepathic power ripple outward.
