Chapter 116 - way out though

"Are you sure about this?" Isabel's voice was low, almost tentative as she turned a look in my direction. She sat across from me in the little darkening room, the weight of the decision that we had just made coming to rest between us.

"Yeah," I said, my jaw tight. "We've come this far. No turning back now."

She didn't argue, she didn't need to. Isabel was with me, always was. Still, I could sense that she, too, continued to mull over all of what we faced. 

 "I just. need to know this is the right move," she muttered fidgeting, her fingers at her lap-twisting habit-when she got deep in her thoughts.

I leaned forward, locking gazes with her. "It's the only move we've got. Ethan's been covering his tracks for too long. It's time we expose everything."

A flicker of doubt mixed with determination danced in her eyes; she wanted this just as much as I did. Still, I could tell she wasn't used to it being this way-her being part of the investigation, rather than being along for the ride.
