Chapter 70 - Chapter 70: First Kill – Slime Hunt Begins

[14th Everdusk 2103], Verdant Hollow Dungeon, CGA Branch

The creature approaching me was a slime—bouncing toward me like a damn ping-pong ball.

I blinked.I had never seen a slime move like that before. But hey, first time for everything, right?

"Alright, let's see what you're made of, buddy," I muttered, stepping back and placing my summoned skeleton between us.

Never underestimate an enemy—no matter how small or squishy. That was rule number one in my personal hunter's manual.

The slime kept coming.

My skeleton staggered back a step, clearly overwhelmed by the thing's bizarre momentum and unusual weight.

That's when I realized something obvious but vital—my skeleton had zero intelligence. It wouldn't fight unless I gave it a command.

"Attack it!" I ordered.

The inner fire in the skeleton's eyes flickered brighter for a moment as it stepped forward, swinging its blade.

It connected—but the result was disappointing.

The slime didn't even flinch.

"Great. Resistant to physical attacks," I muttered, mentally preparing my next move.

I resorted to one of my basic spells.

Dark energy gathered in my hand. I hurled it at the slime mid-battle—but the skeleton, lacking reflexes, ended up taking the hit instead.

It was sent flying, crashing into a nearby log.

But the damage? Now that was satisfying.

<-16 HP>

The slime writhed, a health bar visibly dipping low. Just 4 HP left.

Basic slimes were weak, after all.

The cooldown on Shadow Bolt still had a few seconds left. No time to wait—so I used another skill.

A spectral fang took form and zipped toward the slime. It tried to bounce away—alert this time—but still got clipped.

<-4 HP>

{Congratulations, host, on your first kill.}{Lv.2 Slime has been killed. +15 Experience Points gained.}[+1 EvoEnchant Point stored in Talent.]{Note: HP reduction was displayed in numbers for your first hunt. From now on, enemies' HP will appear as bars above their heads. Stay sharp.}

I nodded as I scanned the system.

So this was what real hunting felt like. My first EvoEnchant point was earned—and it still felt surreal.

Maybe the system stopped holding our hands like this in my era.

"Good job, bro. Not much help this time, but effort counts," I said, patting the skeleton. Not like it could understand.

But from now on... this was a path I had to walk alone.

"Alright. Let's finish this stage."

I turned, ready to move on—then stopped abruptly.

"Ah! Almost forgot."

I rushed back to the undissolved slime corpse, holding my hand above it.

"Plunder."

A strange energy pulsed from me and flowed into the slime. I could feel the transfer—vague, eerie, but powerful.

[No talent, skills, abilities, or bloodline detected. Racial skills and stats identified.][Do you wish to plunder the body?]

"Yes."

The energy dove into the body, then pulled back—bringing something with it. It surged into me like a jolt.

[Stats have been plundered. Racial skills do not match the host and are rejected.][+1 STR, +1 END added to host stats.]

I quickly pulled up my status panel.

This… this was the terrifying potential those God Candidates always had.

But now?

It's my turn to rise.

I got up and continued the hunt with the skeleton trailing behind me.

Not long after, we came across another slime—this one clearly weaker.

Level 1.

Slow. Dumb. Perfect target.

The spell struck before it could even react. A health bar above its head turned red—then vanished.

{Lv.1 Forest Slime has been killed. +10 EXP gained.}[+1 EvoEnchant Point stored in Talent.]

I checked my MP—just 38/110 left, and recovery was a slog: 1 MP every two minutes. At this rate, it'd take forever.

Then I remembered something—the points.

My eyes flicked to my status screen. An exclamation mark (!) blinked next to my Talent.

I tapped it.

Talent: Infinite Evolution & Enchantment (? Rank)

Description:

The Infinite Evolution & Enchantment talent born from the mutation of two talents and grants its user the unparalleled ability to evolve and enhance both themselves and their possessions in an infinite loop of growth. At ? Rank, this talent becomes a divine force, allowing the user to unlock endless potential through EvoEnchantment Points (Evoenchant points), which are gained through Slaying. With these points, the user can rapidly evolve skills, weapons, armor, and even their physical and mental attributes and many more things which he desires.

[Evoenchant Points: 3 ]

Talent Effects:

Infinite Evolution:

The user can continuously evolve their body, mind, and soul beyond mortal limits and other items. Each evolution grants an increase in power, be it strength, agility, intelligence, or even supernatural abilities. As the user collects EvoEnchantment Points, they can level up attributes and unlock latent powers, improving at an exponential rate by collecting the required material needed for the evolution to happen.

Weapon & Equipment Enchantment:

The user can apply EvoEnchantment Points to weapons, armor, and other items, upgrading them to higher ranks or unlocking new, advanced abilities. This process bypasses traditional enchanting, allowing the item to gain unique qualities that are directly tied to the user's evolution.

Skill Evolution:

Skills can be evolved to new levels of power using EvoEnchantment Points. This includes improving the effectiveness, range, cooldown, and mana cost of abilities. At higher ranks, skills can also gain entirely new effects that transcend their original limits.

Endless Growth:

No matter how high the user's level, they will always have the potential to grow further. EvoEnchantment Points allow the user to break through conventional limits, enhancing their fighting abilities and unlocking the next stage of their growth.

The information was clear—despite the rank being hidden.

Didn't matter. I already knew what it was.

This wasn't just some overpowered tool—it was my path forward.

With sword in hand and hunger for growth burning in my chest, I stepped deeper into the dungeon.

The hunt had only just begun.
