Chapter 66 - Chapter 66: Altered Status and Unexpected Invitation

[14th Everdusk 2103]

Inside the restroom stall, I adjusted my mask slowly, listening to the faint sound of someone outside—unmoving, waiting.

A shadow sent by Lyre.

Assigned to tail me. Monitor whether I tried to escape or pull anything strange.

But here I was, sitting calmly atop the toilet lid, simply waiting.

And the poor guy was growing impatient.

'Damn, why am I the one stuck with this? Couldn't the Miss assign me to raid an E-rank gate or something? Babysitting this kid in the bathroom is just… pathetic,' the guild member cursed internally, shifting his weight from one leg to the other.

Meanwhile, I tapped into my system.

Not the one rebooting in the background, but the secondary interface—the Nexus Prime System.

I blinked. My stats looked like something out of a fantasy legend.

"Six classes. Five talents. A unique ability tab? If anyone saw this, I'd be hunted or worshipped—or both."

I took a moment and smiled faintly. No need to attract unnecessary attention.

So, I modified the interface to something… more ordinary.

"That should keep nosy eyes away."

Most people didn't start with more than one or two classes anyway. My real status would only draw problems.

The Weapon Master class still felt lackluster to me, but it offered enough utility to act as a strong support. A passive, an active, and a utility hybrid—solid, but not flashy.

I stood from the seat after giving my edited status one last glance.

Upon stepping out, I saw a man in a clean black uniform, splashing water on his face. His clothes screamed high-rank guild member.

"I don't recall him being here earlier."

He didn't say anything, just looked at me—wide-eyed—before touching a Bluetooth device in his ear, whispering something. Probably powered by mana, considering electricity was obsolete these days.

I ignored him.

Outside the restroom, the crowd was already thinning. The guilds that had gathered to recruit students were leaving, visibly annoyed—the school had denied them permission to take students.

I scanned for the two clowns who had harassed me earlier.

"Not here… Good. Maybe the branch blacklisted their sorry guilds."

Around me, some students looked dejected, others relieved. I spotted Lucas in the crowd, and as our eyes met, he immediately looked away.

"So fake."

I bet he wasn't joining any guild either. Probably planning to become a CGA Hunter and form his own party full of girls.

'Tch. How can someone 'love all of them equally'? What a joke. I hate guys like that.'

Then, as I observed the scene, the man from the restroom reappeared. He moved toward Lyre and whispered something into her ear.

She turned, eyes scanning the crowd. For a fleeting moment, her gaze locked with mine—and with Lucas's.

Neither of us noticed.

Then, suddenly—

"Hey bro, can you listen to me for a sec?" Lucas approached with his usual grin.

I turned to him, maintaining a neutral expression.

"Sure, what can I do for you?"

He rubbed the back of his neck. "I was wondering if you'd join my party after the dungeon test."

I nearly said no right away.

But then… a thought struck me.

'If I stick close for a bit, I can study him. Then ditch him later.'

I put on my best thoughtful expression.

"Well, I'm planning to go solo for the initial stages. I'll consider teaming up if I find a good match."

"Alright, I respect that," Lucas said. "Here's my number. Call me if you change your mind."

He turned to walk away—only to freeze when Lyre appeared out of nowhere in front of us.

"Hi Lyre, what brings you here?" Lucas asked, smiling brightly. "Don't tell me you're interested in joining my team?"

Oh god… he really doesn't know who she is.

Lyre didn't even blink.

"Lucas, be quiet for a moment and listen."

Just like that, he shut up.

I did too.

Her expression was unreadable as her gaze swept the crowd.

"Pay attention, both of you," she began, her voice cool and commanding.

Then she said something—something that made the entire hall fall silent.

Eyes widened. Mouths dropped.

Even I, for once, was surprised.
