Su Chen sat there rubbing his hands nervously, his face practically screaming awkwardness.
What Wu Luxi had said over dinner just now—anyone with a working brain could tell she had one clear goal.
She was trying to get close to Su Chen!
Right now, Su Chen's quality of life was easily among the best in the world. There was barely anyone alive who could match his current lifestyle.
No wonder when he came out of the shower, Wu Luxi was only wearing a nightgown. At first, he thought it was just because the RV was warm with the heater on, so he didn't think much of it.
But looking back now—damn, she was playing the full "sweet and innocent" act.
Once something suspicious catches your attention, you start noticing all the little details.
The way this girl spoke—it was like every word was a fart in disguise.
It had been half an hour since dinner, and Wu Luxi didn't look like she had any intention of leaving.
Last time it was all about the handgun blueprint.
Being able to defeat that massive tiger was largely thanks to the handgun. Without that unlimited-ammo weapon, who knows how it would've turned out?
Just letting her come over for one dinner was already generous enough. On top of that, Su Chen had cooked personally, and the meat was tiger meat—one of the rarest and highest quality meats you could find. And she got to eat it for free?
Talk about hitting the jackpot.
Wu Luxi was lounging on the couch, flipping through TV channels like she owned the place. She even opened up some snacks Su Chen had on the table and started eating without hesitation.
She wasn't acting like a guest at all. The way she delicately curled her pinky while eating snacks was so extra—it screamed "trying too hard."
"When are you planning to leave?" Su Chen finally asked.
"It's not safe to go out at night," she replied casually.
There was a trace of impatience in his voice, but mostly, it was calm.
Wu Luxi pulled her legs up onto the couch, wrapping her arms around them, and gave Su Chen a seductive look—completely unguarded.
This was straight-up flirting!
"Gege~ I drank too much cola. Can I rest a bit before heading out?"
What a joke. Who the hell gets drunk on cola? If she's the second best at bullshitting, no one would dare claim the first spot.
This little act of hers only confirmed Su Chen's suspicions—she was clearly up to something.
I treat you like a friend, and you're trying to hook up with me?
"Can you speak like a normal human being and stop using that fake cutesy voice?" Su Chen said with a frown. It was sickening.
Since middle school, he'd hated girls who used that phony tone. It was nauseating, especially the ones who sounded normal around other girls but turned into syrupy baby voices around guys.
Don't they hear themselves? Maybe they're the only ones who think it's cute.
"This is just how I talk~" she said, still putting on the act. Then she reached out and tried to touch Su Chen's shoulder.
Su Chen immediately stepped back, dodging her hand.
He froze, staring down at the floor, suddenly at a loss for words.
All his life, girls had always seemed pretty simple and sincere to him.
He never expected to meet one who was so shameless and pushy.
Wu Luxi acted like nothing was wrong and kept up her aggressive flirting.
Within seconds, her nightgown had somehow slipped halfway off—barely hanging on her shoulders, in a pose that screamed seduction.
"Can you stop being so weird?" Su Chen glared at her. He'd told her multiple times already, but she wouldn't listen.
If she were a guy, he would've thrown hands by now. But unfortunately, she wasn't.
Su Chen used to think Wu Luxi was a girl with a great personality.
But now? He was seeing her true colors.
It was obvious what she wanted—a safety net. In a world this dangerous, having a dependable boyfriend meant she wouldn't have to worry about a thing.
It was all too real. In short—she didn't want to work hard anymore. She just wanted to ride his coattails.
But Su Chen wasn't that easy to trick. His emotional intelligence might not be sky-high, but he wasn't stupid.
Not to mention, Su Chen was now a major figure on a global level. If anything happened between them, it could easily turn into a scandal.
Better to avoid the mess altogether. Getting dragged into a scandal over someone like her? Not worth it.
"Are you a damn jellyfish or something? Can't even keep your clothes on? What, you need me to help you dress now too?" Su Chen snapped.
Wu Luxi's voice turned even softer, "I just… I want to travel with you. It's lonely being alone all the time. I just want someone I can rely on."
"I see a lot of people teaming up in the world chat. I get jealous… can't we travel together?"
"Oh, I'm doing fine on my own. Don't want to team up with anyone," Su Chen replied flatly.
"I only agreed to have dinner with you because you helped me out with the handgun blueprint," he added. "That's it. Just one meal."
"You can get out now. I won't be seeing you off."
Wu Luxi looked at him with a face full of grievance, but even now, she wouldn't let go.
She clung to him like her life depended on it.
In her eyes, Su Chen was handsome, rich, and powerful. If she could just latch onto him, she wouldn't have to worry about the future at all.
But…
He was such a straight guy.
"If you keep this up, I'm gonna start using force," Su Chen warned, sitting in the driver's seat, constantly urging her to get out.
She had no other option but to leave, looking totally defeated.
The moment she stepped out of the RV, Su Chen didn't hesitate for even a second. He started the engine and took off.
"Hey! Su Chen—wait! Don't leave me! Can't you just let me stay?" she shouted from behind.
"If we can't date, we can at least be friends!"
"What's so bad about traveling together!?"
Wu Luxi was now like a mad dog, chasing behind the RV as it sped down the road, still yelling and whining.
Su Chen ignored her completely, eyes locked on the road ahead.
The faster he drove, the smaller she became in the rearview mirror. Eventually, she couldn't keep up.
He kept an eye on the mirror the whole time. He knew she was chasing him, but he wasn't about to give her any chance to catch up.
Only after she disappeared from view did he finally relax and ease off the accelerator.
He wasn't in any hurry—just aimlessly driving down the road, going wherever his instincts took him.
Su Chen had more than enough supplies to support two people—heck, he could feed an entire family.
But in a survival game like this, bringing someone along wasn't always a smart idea. At least, not right now.
He had no plans to team up with anyone. After all, he had a system on his side.
Sweet talk and tricks didn't matter. The most important thing was this—
She just wasn't his type.
There's no such thing as someone being "too straight." The truth was, he simply didn't like her.
