Logan could smell the stench of sulfur, his heightened senses making it even harder to ignore. He wanted to cover his nose but could only endure it. Among the four of them, only Freya openly whined about the overpowering nasiating scent.
They busied themselves surveying the area to ignore the stench, adjusting to the hostile terrain and its inhabitants—most being fire and earth-type creatures. Massive worms emerged from the ground, their molten bodies writhing beneath the surface, while scorchwyrms ran around, reminding Logan of his first encounter with Scorch.
Other creatures roamed the volcanic land: boulder-like stone monsters mindlessly devouring rock, deer whose fur ignited as they clashed in territorial battles, and duck-like birds that swam undisturbed through pits of lava.
Even the vegetation had adapted—blackened greenery resistant to the heat, its fruits tempting yet suspicious enough to make Logan hesitate before picking them.
