Chapter 218 - Chapter 217: In Preparation for Battle

Under Renner's governance, the Sorcerer Kingdom's citizens had begun to place their complete trust in the Sorcerer King and wholeheartedly accepted their status as his subjects.

Renner reinstated the tradition of self-sufficient farming, as the people had previously felt like livestock awaiting slaughter—doing minimal work yet having endless food supplies.

It felt to them like they were being fattened up in captivity.

However, the Sorcerer King had no such intentions; he simply did not want to oppress them.

After all, the Sorcerer King had once been a corporate slave, crushed under the weight of overwork and exploitation.

Having experienced that suffering firsthand, he did not wish for others to endure the same misery.

However, the people didn't see it that way.

After being oppressed for so long, they found it difficult to adjust to freedom. The Sorcerer King's kindness was met with suspicion—they believed that sudden generosity must have an ulterior motive.

Under Renner's management, the people's lives remained largely the same, but with one critical difference: taxes were reduced from 60% to just 10%.

Furthermore, Renner remotely orchestrated the empire's annexation of the Slane Theocracy, and with her guidance, the Theocracy surrendered smoothly.

Meanwhile, in the Holy Kingdom, Holy Queen Calca and Caspian engaged in a theatrical internal power struggle, while completely ignoring the organization led by Neia.

Neia's group continued to grow unchecked, spreading the virtues of the Sorcerer King, rescuing refugees, and tending to the wounded.

Some of the more astute nobles repeatedly advised the Holy Queen to send forces to stop Neia's activities.

However, the Holy Queen firmly refused, stating that Neia's organization was merely helping those in need, and attacking them would mean harming innocent people in dire situations.

Caspian took the same stance, refusing to act against Neia despite pressure from his peers.

Eventually, however, a group of nobles lost patience.

One noble, unable to tolerate Neia's growing influence, mobilized a force of 1,000 elite soldiers.

Confident of victory, they set out to suppress Neia's group and seize their resources.

But before they could execute their plan, Neia discovered their intentions first.

While Neia was spreading the teachings of the Sorcerer King, she had also mastered the art of theatrical confidence.

Determined to face 1,000 heavily armed Holy Knights alone, she declared boldly:

"I don't want to see any of you bleed, suffer injuries, or lose your lives. Trust me—I am someone under His Majesty the Sorcerer King. I am strong! Exceptionally strong!"

Neia's words deeply moved the wounded soldiers she had previously saved.

"Lady Neia is younger than us, yet she's... No, we can't let her bear this burden alone!"

"That's right! Our lives were saved by Lady Neia. What does it matter if we die for her one more time?"

"We absolutely won't let Lady Neia fight alone!"

Despite their impassioned cries and their determination to fight alongside her, Neia dashed forward, leaving them far behind.

No matter how hard they tried, they simply couldn't catch up to her.

Neia plunged into the enemy formation like a battlefield boss, her sword cleaving through dozens of soldiers with a single swing.

Her combat power was staggering, and the soldiers were utterly no match for her.

Moreover, the ordinary weapons of the soldiers couldn't harm Neia at all.

She was clad in magically enchanted armor, rendering her immune to their mundane attacks.

Originally, Remedios had come to observe with a nonchalant attitude, intending merely to watch from the sidelines.

However, when she witnessed Neia slaughtering her soldiers mercilessly, she couldn't remain still any longer.

Remedios charged into the fray, attempting to subdue Neia.

But Neia merely glanced at her with disdain, as though she were nothing more than an insignificant insect.

This look enraged Remedios, and she was instantly consumed by a murderous intent.

Remedios swung her sword at Neia, but Neia caught it effortlessly with one hand.

"Oh, this looks familiar! Isn't this the ever-so-mighty Captain of the Holy Knights Order? How long has it been since we last met? Why is your swing so weak now?" Neia said coldly, her face expressionless.

Remedios was furious, her anger boiling over.

"Damn you! I'll kill you!"

She used every ounce of her strength to pull the sword free, but it wouldn't budge an inch from Neia's iron grip.

Neia held the blade as though it weighed nothing at all.

"What's wrong? Is shouting all you can do? Weren't you going to kill me? Go on, then—try!"

Since becoming a leader, Neia had changed drastically. She was no longer the timid girl she once was.

Standing before a woman who had humiliated and belittled her countless times, Neia felt no need to hold back.

"You bastard!"

SMACK!

Neia slapped Remedios across the face without hesitation.

"How dare you—!"

SMACK!

Another slap, harder this time, sent blood trickling from Remedios' nose.

A nearby soldier tried to sneak attack Neia while she was striking Remedios.

His spear lunged forward, but the weapon snapped in two upon contact with Neia's enchanted armor. Neia didn't even flinch.

Without turning, Neia kicked the attacker with immense force, sending him flying a hundred meters away and crashing through multiple soldiers along the way.

Seeing no other option, Remedios abandoned her sword and resorted to hand-to-hand combat. But Neia was faster.

The moment Remedios let go of her sword, Neia delivered a powerful kick to her abdomen, sending Remedios sprawling to the ground.

Neia walked over to Remedios, towering above her.

Over the past year, Neia had grown significantly taller and more robust.

Her figure had matured, her presence commanding and unyielding.

Looking down at Remedios with piercing eyes, Neia stood as a symbol of unshakable power.

"You're so weak!" Neia sneered.

"But I should thank you. If it weren't for you, I would never have become someone loyal to the Sorcerer King. All the strength I have now is because of the Sorcerer King."

Though the strength came from Peroroncino, Neia believed it was because of the Sorcerer King's order that she received it.

In her heart, the Sorcerer King was the one she truly felt thankful to.

As the noble saw Remedios, once thought nearly invincible in single combat, being crushed by Neia's strength, their initial confidence quickly dissolved.

The situation had shifted. Realizing the danger, they turned to flee.

Neia picked up Remedios' sword and threw it with one hand, sending it straight through the noble's chest.

Neia wouldn't show mercy to those who wished to see her dead.

"As a human, you actually chose to ally with that damned undead. Don't you feel ashamed?" Remedios shouted at Neia.

"Not at all! And you will not insult His Majesty, the Sorcerer King!" Neia's voice was firm, and with a swift motion, she stepped on Remedios' face.

"Be careful, or you'll become an undead too!"

"Then I can serve the Sorcerer King forever. Why not?" Neia replied, unfazed by Remedios' words.

"How laughable. You've abandoned your dignity as a human!" Remedios continued to struggle, but no matter how she tried, she couldn't move Neia's foot from her face.

"And now, do you still have your so-called dignity? You're under my foot and can't even fight back. If this is what you call dignity, then I don't need it!"

Remedios was left speechless. She still believed she was right. Humans are stubborn creatures, often unwilling to admit their mistakes even when they know they are wrong. Only a few can recognize their errors and correct them.

Although Remedios couldn't argue with Neia's words, the teachings she had grown up with still influenced her. She still believed that Neia was wrong.

"Since you hate the undead so much, how about I beg the Sorcerer King to turn you into one? Turn you into the very thing you despise most—it would be the best reward for you!"

"No! Don't! Don't turn me into an undead!" Remedios panicked. She wasn't afraid of death, but becoming an undead was something she couldn't accept.

"Beg me! If you beg, maybe I won't do it."

Remedios gritted her teeth and was very unwilling.

"It seems like you still want to become an undead!" A flash of determination passed through Remedios' eyes as she intended to commit suicide.

Neia also saw through Remedios' intentions.

"Even if you commit suicide and become a corpse, you can still turn into an undead!"

Neia's words made Remedios give up on the idea of suicide.

Suicide was her last resort, but if that strategy was useless, then there was no point in it.

Neia raised her foot that was on Remedios' body, crouched down, grabbed Remedios' collar, and lifted her up.

Remedios, seeing an opening, tried to slap Neia, but Neia easily dodged.

With a swift movement, Neia slapped Remedios' face twice.

In the past, Remedios had slapped Neia many times, blaming Neia for everything.

Back then, Neia was weak and powerless, with no one speaking up for her.

Now, their roles were reversed. Neia had the power, and Remedios was weak and helpless.

The surrounding soldiers saw that the leader of the nobles was dead, and those with courage had already been killed by Neia, so they all fled.

With the leader dead and the brave ones gone, there was no reason for them to stay, and they all ran back to their headquarters.

Remedios was completely unconvinced and tried to slap Neia again.

She swung her left hand, but Neia dodged easily.

Her right hand suddenly swung at Neia again.

Neia let go of her grip on Remedios' collar, causing Remedios to lose balance and fall to the ground, while her slap missed.

"I heard that the noble lady Remedios is still a virgin!" Neia suddenly mocked.

Remedios suddenly thought of something.

Some men who enjoy tormenting women often use them for amusement.

Completely unaware of this, Remedios thought that when men and women do such things, the woman suffers while the man enjoys.

In reality, the woman's screams are a normal reaction, and only the first time would be painful.

"As a fellow woman, you can't do this to me!" Remedios said in panic.

In truth, Neia had no intention of going that far; she just wanted to scare Remedios, but seeing her intense reaction made Neia suddenly want to try it herself.

"I remember you didn't spare me because we were fellow women! All the toughest and most exhausting tasks were thrown at me." Neia said coldly.

"Please, don't do it! Please!" Remedios could not imagine what would happen to her if she became the plaything of the man she served.

Little did she know that the Holy Queen she was loyal to had already been ruined by Shalltear. On the surface, she was the lofty Holy Queen, but secretly, she was Shalltear's obedient dog, always at her beck and call.

And every night, the Holy Queen had to eat a large carrot before she could sleep.

The subordinates were all very curious about why the Holy Queen liked eating carrots so much. She always chose the largest one.

Though they were curious, they didn't have the courage to spy, as the Holy Queen would always send the guards far away before going to sleep, saying that she couldn't sleep if someone was nearby.

The guards were puzzled, as there used to be guards by her door.

They wondered how she used to sleep before.

Curious as they were, the guards still obeyed the princess's orders.

Even Remedios, the Queen's personal guard, was not allowed to be close to her.

The cold indifference of the Holy Princess also made Remedios very upset, so she decided to do something and followed that nobleman to attack Neia's organization. When Remedios began begging for mercy, Neia suddenly felt bored. She had expected the opponent to hold their ground and refuse to beg for mercy.

"Lick my shoes," Neia said coldly. Her gaze was like one directed at trash.

Remedios clenched her fists, wanting to punch Neia. Neia didn't show mercy and stepped on her face again.

"Do you really want to hit me? Then go ahead! Useless!"

"You bastard!" Remedios grabbed Neia's foot with both hands, trying to remove it from her face, but no matter how hard she tried, it was useless.

Neia maintained her balance with just one leg while Remedios used all her strength but couldn't move Neia's leg.

"All you do is bark?" Neia withdrew her foot and kicked Remedios in the waist.

"Crack!" The sound of bones breaking came from Remedios's body.

At the same time, Remedios was sent flying several meters away.

The pain from her body made it impossible for her to make a sound.

The broken bone fragments had embedded themselves into her flesh, like needles buried inside her body.

"I should have killed you back then!"

"Don't talk about the past! I can kill you now!" Neia took off her shoe and her white sock, then stepped on Remedios's face with her bare foot.

This was purely to humiliate Remedios, though Neia had another thought in mind.

Seeing Neia's delicate little foot, Remedios's heart hardened.

Now that she had been so humiliated, she had to make Neia suffer a bit as well.

Without hesitation, Remedios chose to use a "hurting herself to hurt the enemy" tactic.

She aimed at Neia's toes and bit down. However, the expected scene of blood flowing did not happen, and she didn't feel any liquid in her mouth.

"I didn't expect the Chief Holy Knight of the Holy Kingdom to like eating toes. If you like it, I'll let you nibble a little longer," Neia said indifferently.

Remedios gritted her teeth, but she couldn't break Neia's skin.

Neia had been enhanced by the world-class item "Staff of the Administrator," which had raised her stats.

Her defense had already exceeded 1000.

The head of the kingdom's Eight Fingers leader.

That person's defense was enough to withstand a knife, and Neia's defense was no weaker than that leader's.

It was a foolish idea for Remedios to think she could bite through Neia's skin.
