A low, rumbling growl vibrates in my ears. At the same time a shot of pain pierces my stomach. Making me wince as the spell I have been concentrating on begins to waver slightly.
"Ohfuckingshit!" My head rings with a sense of danger so intense, that my head nearly splits open. So with all of the skill of a minor base baller I pitch the ball of mana as far away as possible. And to insure my safety I cover my body with a cover which I channel my mana through.
A large boom echoes out and through the covers I can spot a show of rainbow light sporadically shining throughout my room. And even with my quick countermeasures I can feel both concussive force and heat. Luckily not enough to actually damage me.
So after a few more seconds of waiting I slowly lift my covers. Allowing me to peek out to see the aftermath of my little accident. Surprisingly the room isn't scorched to high Hell, but there is a weird… smell.
"Did I make a stink bomb? Nice." Tossing my cover off me, I hop out of bed and begin to stretch. The hours spent toying with magic making itself known in pins and needles.
"Ugh" grunting in discomfort I start making my way towards the door. Opening it I find myself in a staircase hall. The stairs downwards are right in front of me. Yet… There are also five other rooms that I have yet to explore.
'A little exploration won't hurt' a low growl rumbles out once more. Barley reacting this time I merely rub my stomach.
'Too much' I admit, before slowly walking down the hall taking in the design and architecture.
'Pretty gothic, sapphire and amethyst seem to be the main colors accentuated by black for depth and richness.' I nod in appreciation, whoever designed this building knew their stuff and it matches my tastes quite well.
'Wait a minute, did I just compliment drunk Marian? There is no way I actually appreciate what that bitch has done for me, right?' I scratch my chin realizing that so far everything has been pretty good. No Eldritch horror has come to claim my virginity and the most dangerous thing to my life has been myself.
'If that's the case… no! Don't let your guard down! Drunk Marian is dumb and dangerous Marian, remember that. Who knows, she probably wanted me to let my guard down before summoning Warhammer on top of my head, the sadistic bitch!' Nodding to myself, I reaffirm my desire to not die due to drunk Marian's machinations.
Approaching a door I open it and take a peek inside finding a desk situated in front of the window. Large bookshelves have been placed on each side up against the wall. This paints a studious yet intimidating image despite no one sitting there.
Immediately I make a beeline for the window. Opening it up I look down. Discovering that I'm at least three stories up.
'Enough to cause some injuries but won't kill me fast enough, even if I land in my head.' Sighing dejectedly I close the window and turn away from it. Pulling out the chair and slumping into it.
The leather feels quite rich as I lean back into the expensive wood frame. Kicking my feet up onto the desk, I cross my legs feeling like a total boss. Crossing my fingers and interlocking them behind my head I gaze up at the ceiling, feeling the earlier dejection fade away with quickness.
'So this is how it feels to be rich, sadly I don't have any money' the dejection returns once more as I groan.
'Maybe I should take my chances' I ponder letting my head hang off the edge of the frame. Allowing me to see the window once more and the sweet bliss of relief it offers.
Sighing I take my feet off the desk and stand up. Walking over to one of the shelves I let my eyes wander. Taking in the titles on each of the book rims.
'Differentiation Between Nihilism and Existentialism, The True Purpose of Mathematics, The Meaning of Science, etc. etc.' Nothing here seems to be about magic, just philosophy, science, math, and other academic topics.
Which isn't unexpected but you would think drunk Marian would throw in a story book or two. A classic knight saving the princess from dragon dick would have been nice. But noooo drunk Marian seems to be boring Marian as well.
'Then again studying these topics won't be that hard thanks to the essence. And might even give me ideas on how to best go about creating my own magic system.' Scratching my chin in thought, I look up at the higher shelves.
'Ugh, why am I so short?' pouting, I stomp my foot into the ground. In reaction to my emotions and action, my magic sends me into the air.
The world around me slows to a crawl as my mind flares. 'Ah shit, the way I'm going the roof is going to get real fucking familar with my face.' Sighing mentally I begin to prepare a spell.
'This is going to be awkward since I can't close my eyes, but I should be able to make this work. The question is how? Making a bubble around me might damage the ceiling and I don't want to deal with that. Canceling my gravity to float will probably just make this worse. Maybe I can encase my body in mana and lift myself, but could that cause whiplash?' Various ideas fly through my mind, my face ever so closer to smashing into the ceiling.
'Meh, yeah let's go with that' in my mind the image of myself being shrouded in mana is quickly manifested. It is a thick, purple film that exists just above my skin and over my clothes. The true key is the intent I have applied such as safety, floating, and control.
My mana stirs and as expected it surges fourth. The spell cast around me stopping my assent. A shudder of ecstasy ripples through my body.
"Hah, that could have ended badly~" running my fingers through my hair, I slowly let myself down. Only to pause, something Interesting catching my eyes. Reaching out I grab a book with my magic. Pulling it towards me with barely a thought.
[The basics of alchemy]
Reading the cover, I can't help but to be curious. Since alchemy on many occasions is associated with magic. And there are plenty of magic systems based on alchemy, the most notable of which is full metal alchemist.
'If I can get knowledgeable on this subject…' I grin in excitement letting myself down. Cancelling my spell, I quickly leave my office. Closing the door behind me.
Ignoring the other rooms I immediately return to my bedroom. Jumping onto my bed, I giggle as I bounce. Laying on my stomach I open the book. Desire fueling my lust for knowledge.
