Chapter 318 - Chapter 318: Ajisai

The reconstruction of Amegakure was progressing rapidly.

With so many areas needing to be redesigned, Mirai decided to stay in Amegakure for a while.

Watching the constant influx of supplies, the village's shinobi couldn't hide their excitement.

At first, they had assumed that Mirai's so-called assistance in rebuilding Amegakure was just empty talk. Surely, his true intention was to plunder the village's resources like the great nations had always done in countless past wars.

But what they hadn't expected was that the Divine Nation under Uchiha Mirai's rule had actually sent them an abundance of the materials they desperately needed.

In just half a month, Amegakure had already completed its initial reconstruction plans.

At this pace, the village would be fully rebuilt within half a year.

Most importantly…

Aside from contributing labor, they had paid no price for this. And now, they no longer had to worry about going hungry.

Had they known that surrendering to the Divine Nation would grant them such generous treatment, why the hell had they even resisted in the first place?!

...

Mirai strolled down the newly rebuilt streets of Amegakure, quietly contemplating his next move.

The nine Tailed Beasts had already been collected.

Next, he only needed to locate Uchiha Obito and Zetsu's hiding place.

Although those two were experts in concealment, they wouldn't be able to evade him for long.

The shinobi world was steadily falling under his control.

Once he commanded all the nations, finding Obito and Zetsu would be a trivial task.

As he turned a corner, his gaze landed on a girl with short purple hair and golden eyes, struggling to carry a bundle of wooden planks. Her face was smudged with dirt.

She was clearly exhausted, but her eyes burned with determination.

Just as Mirai was observing her, the girl also noticed him.

"M-M-Mirai-sama?!"

Seeing Mirai, the girl instantly panicked.

Never in her life had she imagined that someone as insignificant as herself would cross paths with a figure as powerful as him.

Hurriedly, she dropped to her knees and bowed deeply.

Recently, everyone in the village had been saying that Uchiha Mirai was a savior sent from the heavens to rescue Amegakure. She definitely didn't want to offend their so-called messiah.

Mirai waved a hand dismissively. "Relax. I'm not going to eat you."

He glanced at the planks she was struggling with. "You're so young—why are you doing this kind of work? Carrying materials must be difficult for you."

The girl whispered, "In Amegakure, if we want to become shinobi, we must contribute to the village."

"No matter how hard it is, I won't back down. I will become a shinobi!"

Mirai raised an eyebrow at her determined expression. "That rule won't exist anymore."

"Once Amegakure is fully rebuilt, its policies will align with the Divine Nation."

"In the Divine Nation, everyone receives a scroll for refining chakra and training their spiritual energy."

"As long as you have talent, anyone can become a shinobi."

The girl's eyes lit up with excitement. She couldn't help but lift her head.

"Mirai-sama, is that really true?!"

If what he said was true, then she would definitely become a shinobi!

Mirai chuckled at her reaction. "I wouldn't lie to a little brat like you."

Realizing her improper behavior, the girl quickly pressed her forehead to the ground again.

"Please forgive my rudeness, Mirai-sama!"

Mirai sighed. "I already told you, there's no need to be so nervous."

"You just reminded me of a kid I once met—that's why I took a second look at you."

"Go on with your work. I'll be leaving now."

He turned to leave, but the very next second, the girl suddenly dashed forward and spread her arms, blocking his path.

"Mirai-sama! What did you just say?!"

Mirai blinked, puzzled. "Huh? What about it?"

"During the Third Shinobi War, I came to Amegakure once. The village had been ravaged by battle, and civilians were dying left and right."

"I saw a starving woman on the roadside and gave her some soldier pills to keep her strength up."

"She was holding a baby… a baby with the same hair color as you."

Mirai sighed. "I wonder if she even survived."

The girl's breathing grew heavy. Mirai frowned. "What's wrong with you?"

The girl didn't answer immediately. Instead, she knelt on the ground and, with practiced precision, traced a symbol in the dirt. Then, she looked up at him nervously.

"Mirai-sama… have you seen this symbol before?"

Mirai glanced down and chuckled. "That's the Uchiha clan crest."

As soon as he said that, the girl's eyes turned red, welling up with tears.

With a loud thud, she dropped to her knees. "Mirai-sama, I've finally found you!"

"The woman you saved that day… was my mother!"

Mirai was stunned. "Really?"

After all these years, he never expected to meet someone he had once saved in passing.

What a coincidence.

"What's your name?" Mirai asked.

The girl immediately answered, "Mirai-sama, my name is Ajisai."

"Ajisai?"

Mirai paused, his memory stirring.

In his past life, Ajisai had been a shinobi of Amegakure. A beautiful kunoichi.

In the original story, Konan had assigned her to an S-rank mission. She had died, and her body was later turned into the Animal Path of the Six Paths of Pain.

Before his reincarnation, Mirai had been quite fond of her appearance.

But since her role in the original story was brief, he hadn't remembered much about her.

Wasn't Ajisai supposed to have blonde hair, though?

If she had always had purple hair, he would have recognized her immediately.

He never imagined that the girl he had saved in passing would turn out to be her.

Seeing Mirai's silence, Ajisai grew uneasy. "Mirai-sama… is something wrong?"

Mirai snapped out of his thoughts and smiled. "It's nothing. How's your mother?"

At the question, Ajisai's face fell, her expression filled with sorrow.

"My mother… she's gone."
