'It's just a game...'
'It's just a game...'
Chase started too mentally repeat with panic.
'It's just a damned game...'
Yet the oncoming Frostfang player's were filled with unnatural bloodlust.
Sparky began to growl for the first time in a long while, which didn't mean anything good.
Before he could even tell what had happened, one of the defenders was standing directly in front of him.
The older boy was looking down at him with pure distaste on his face.
He had teal colored slicked back hair, and cold hazel eyes.
He wore a crown made of ice upon his head, and clearly carried himself like some sort of king.
Which based on previous interactions, usually meant that this bastard was their captain.
Chase cursed the corrupt Overseer, and showed a trembling grin in protest to the boy's arrogant look.
The other boy grinned, and then held out a hand.
"I am Thane of House Frostfang..."
He said, his voice sharp and cold just as his appearance.
Of course, Chase was not inclined to return Thane's wonderful greeting.
"Piss off."
Then Thane's grin twisted into an offended frown, and immediately Chase felt his body drop about twenty degrees.
He would be absolutely murdered by this Thane guy.
Reaching toward his inner soul, feeding the ruin of Hero's Fang swiftly. He prepared to don the blade of cobalt...
Just as Thane began to move, a familiar boy with bright neon blue hair slammed into him, with a haughty laugh.
Neo had slammed into Thane with the might of a dragon, sending him flying back into the forest he came from.
"Dirty Frostpunks..."
He chuckled, probably feeling a vast amount of freedom with the lack of rules within this game.
Then he turned his head toward the other two defenders who were standing ten or so meters back of where the collision had happened.
"That's cheating..."
The girl said with a wicked grin.
"Oh shut it, I'll drop your bodies in the frozen ocean before I give a damn about the faulty rules of this game!"
"Try it..."
"Will do."
Neo shot forward, seeming to catch the girl by surprise.
Almost as if she had thought that the crazed second son of Cobra was bluffing.
Which he was most certainly not.
Chase followed out of sheer instinct.
Going for the bigger of the two, who had remained quite quiet throughout the previous encounters.
Chase slid underneath the first of his attacks, which had been a powerful downward slam into the snow that had clipped off a piece of his frozen hair.
Shooting upward onto his feet as fast as he could, he went for the boy's collar.
The defender he had initiated combat with was about twice Neo's size, and Neo was about twice the size of Chase.
However, Chase was clearly faster than the frost giant.
Wrapping his arms around the throat of the boy with white colored skin, he had narrowly avoided the second attack which had been a thrashing motion of some sort.
Squeezing with all of his might, he tried to choke the life out of the Frostfang player.
Somewhere ahead of him the body of the antagonizing girl went spinning like a shuriken into one of the trees.
With a growl from Sparky, Chase jumped off of the back of the frost giant as quick as possible.
Then about a hundred spikes made of raw ice shot from the shoulders of the pale skinned boy.
Throwing himself into the snow, he avoided all of them...
With the exception of one, that had stuck itself directly into his calf muscle.
A stifled groan escaped his quivering lips, and he buried his face in the snow.
Just then a loud ring of the game bell sounded from the center of the Frostfang coliseum, calling the end of the game.
"Damnit all..."
Neo muttered loudly, from somewhere in the near vicinity.
Then another voice whispered something in the ear of the nearby frost giant.
Chase couldn't make out the words, because of the terrible pulsing of both his heart beat and the blood that was pouring out of his newfound calf wound.
'Shi-'
"Chase!"
Neo called out, stepping in front of him with a powerful stomp that shook the snow from the ground giving Chase enough warmth to come back to his senses.
When his vision returned, he was prone behind a terribly bloodied Neo.
Pushing himself into a crouching position, Chase almost ripped the icicle from his flesh.
Until he just so happened to realize that he would most likely bleed out from how deep the wound really was.
With a grimace, he glanced up at Neo who liked as if he was readying himself to fight the frost giant, and a limping Thane who was standing next to the pale defender.
"Enough..."
The voice of the Overseer spoke out, with a hint of amusement laced within his tone.
Neo turned his head slowly toward Chase, and frowned.
It was now clear to the injured boy, just how beaten down Neo truly looked.
His arm had a terrible gash strung across it, and his head had a horrid bruise that was mostly hidden behind his wild blue hair.
Then he picked Chase up, much to his surprise. Throwing him over his shoulder, Chase tried to protest, but all that came out of his mouth were pained muffled noises.
So Neo limped with him over his shoulder, all the way back to the away team's locker room.
And all that either of them felt, was the only emotion one could possibly feel in that given moment.
Anger...
The two of them had entered battle with three and maybe more of the opposing players in a sport where fighting to kill was said to be banned.
Chase did not know what the hell was going on, but he sure as hell wanted to know.
