Chapter 300 - Chapter 38: Makima's System Shutdown

Tokyo, Japan.

On the rooftop of a tall building, Makima closed her eyes as if taking a light nap.

However, thanks to the animals she controlled, she could see far more. Rats, wild cats, sparrows, and other low-level creatures under her control became her eyes, bringing her countless perspectives and information.

"Indeed, sending the Yamai sisters out was an incredibly wise move."

Through the eyes of an eagle, Makima saw the Yamai sisters being betrayed by the U.S. and sent to hell in Syria. Rather than feeling anxious, she smiled slightly.

Through other animals, she noticed that assassins from the superpowers, already lurking throughout Tokyo, had finally started to take action. The smile on her face grew even wider.

The superpowers knew about Makima's ambitions.

Makima also knew that the superpowers were aware of her ambitions.

As long as she continued to try to create a world of equality, all nations in this world would become her enemies.

Thus, the conflict between her and the superpowers was irreconcilable.

Since it couldn't be resolved, she decided to ignite the conflict when the situation still favored her.

By moving the Yamai sisters away from her side, she created a perfect opportunity for the superpowers to strike. She didn't believe they would resist the temptation.

And, just as she expected, the superpowers' decapitation operation had already begun.

However, the person targeted was not Makima.

It was the Chainsaw Man, Denji—an integral part of Makima's plan to control the world.

The superpowers had clearly understood the uniqueness of the Chainsaw Man.

Because of this, they had no intention of targeting Makima herself. Each assassination team was heading directly toward Denji, who was still unaware of the danger.

This was the first war between Makima and the superpowers.

Whoever won this war would gain an advantage in the upcoming confrontation.

The superpowers knew this, which is why they made such extensive preparations, even resorting to using the Hell Devil's power to remove the Yamai sisters, the strongest trump card in Makima's hands.

Next, three assassination teams launched surprise attacks, intending to eliminate Denji and take him out of Japan, removing Makima's greatest support for world domination.

In fact, each of the assassination teams was strong enough to do just that.

"But you really think I didn't anticipate your moves?"

Makima's thoughts stirred, and a chain appeared behind her.

Then, gusts of wind rushed in, gradually forming into a Devil.

The Devil's true form was a half-baby-like head. The head only had its lower half, while the upper half was made up of squirming muscles resembling blood vessels.

Surrounding the Devil were visible whirlwinds that wrapped its body. When the wind touched the skin, it caused a sensation like blades slicing through flesh.

This Devil was known as the Typhoon Devil, part of the official Devil hunter organization of the Soviet Union.

Not long ago, it came to Japan with the Bomb Devil Reze, attempting to capture Denji.

However, their mission failed.

Both Reze and the Typhoon Devil were defeated and controlled by Makima, turning them into puppets under her command.

"Lady Makima, I have come as you summoned."

From the baby-like mouth, the respectful name was spoken.

Under Makima's control, the Typhoon Devil, who should have been an enemy, was now completely hers—body and mind.

Like a loyal dog, it had no thoughts other than to obey its master's command.

Even if ordered to die, it would do so without hesitation.

"Offer up everything."

Despite the Typhoon Devil's respect and flattery, Makima's expression remained unshaken as she gave her cold command.

"Yes."

The Typhoon Devil didn't resist at all. In fact, there was a hint of joy in its voice.

As if it were finally able to serve its master.

"Wind Devil, your lower-tier Devil is willing to offer everything to you. Please descend to the human world once again and fight for Lady Makima."

This was a sacrifice.

Normally, sacrifices only occurred between contract holders.

For example, the contract with the Fox Devil by Akihiro would allow him to summon the Fox Devil by offering parts of his body. Similarly, the contract with the Hell Devil by the priest allowed him to summon the Hell Devil by offering his life and the lives of his sons.

But the Yamai sisters had never entered into such a contract.

Therefore, the only way was to find a Devil inherently connected to the Wind Devil and offer a sacrifice.

As Devils of the wind element, the Yamai sisters symbolized all winds in this world.

This naturally included typhoons.

Even if they were transported to hell by the Hell Devil, as long as they were summoned back to the human world, they could reappear.

This was the Hell Devil's greatest weakness.

Otherwise, the U.S. could have simply had the Hell Devil send Makima to hell permanently, solving the problem once and for all.

The superpowers knew that they could only temporarily remove the Yamai sisters from the game.

What they didn't know was that, even though the Yamai sisters had been performing missions in distant countries these past few days, Makima was still monitoring them and had a firm grip on their situation.

By sending the Yamai sisters to hell, the U.S. had actually helped Makima.

Now, she could directly offer a sacrifice to the Typhoon Devil, summoning the Yamai sisters back.

The moment the U.S. sent the Yamai sisters to hell, Makima immediately summoned them back, without wasting any time making them travel.

Once the Yamai sisters appeared, none of the superpowers' top-tier assassins—whether it was Germany's Santa Claus, China's Bow Devil Quanxi, or the U.S.'s The Three Brothers—would be able to stand a chance against them.

"The first war, I won."

Looking at the Typhoon Devil, which was gradually disappearing due to the sacrifice, Makima showed a smug expression.

As the Typhoon Devil disappeared, the sky over Tokyo darkened.

The wind howled, and the storm intensified.

Makima stood amidst the strong winds, her clothes billowing as she silently awaited the arrival of the Yamai sisters.

"It's been a long time since I've been to the human world."

Where the Typhoon Devil had disappeared, a more imposing figure took its place.

It was a humanoid Devil.

Its entire body was made of pure energy, with no flesh. Every cell seemed to contain the power of a raging hurricane.

The summoned Wind Devil looked at Makima, who was standing on the rooftop with a dazed expression.

"I suppose you are my contractor." The Typhoon Devil's voice was laced with arrogance. "Heh, are you so scared of my power that you can't even speak?"

Makima was indeed speechless.

Staring at the unfamiliar Devil with spiral eyes, even she felt her mind was in disarray.

After a long pause, she finally asked with astonishment:

"Who are you?"
