Although the kitchen in the Nakano household was an open-concept design, the spot where Itsuki and the others were sitting was a complete blind spot.
There was no way Hakuto could see what was happening there, let alone call them out on it.
Just as Itsuki was lamenting her sisters' intelligence, Hakuto's voice rang out from the kitchen once again.
"She didn't say it was you, right?"
Upon hearing this, Yotsuba and Itsuki's expressions were surprisingly identical.
Yotsuba: ⚆⚆?
Itsuki: ⚆⚆?
"Itsuki… Shiratori-sensei is talking about you… right?"
"Probably…"
If the first sentence was meant to warn Yotsuba, then this one was clearly directed at Itsuki.
"Didn't you say Shiratori-sensei was just trying to trick us?"
"Technically, that should be the case…"
From a physics standpoint, without the aid of any technological means, two people's lines of sight must be reciprocal.
In other words, if you can see me, then I should be able to see you!
But at this very moment, Itsuki was sitting on a chair, and even if she lifted her head with her hands, she still wouldn't be able to see what Hakuto was doing!
Yet… yet… no matter how hard she thought, Itsuki couldn't figure out how Hakuto saw her.
Did he actually have X-ray vision?
Transparent World?
No wonder he was so good in a fight—turns out he had cheats all along.
Little did she know, after saying those words, Hakuto chuckled to himself in the kitchen.
He hadn't actually seen or noticed anything—he had simply used an old trick from China.
Back in his school days, this trick had scared him plenty. Now that he was a teacher, he finally understood why teachers loved to use it on students.
Thanks to Hakuto's move, Yotsuba and Itsuki exchanged glances in the living room, no longer daring to make any small movements.
Time passed, and eventually, Miku and Nino slowly woke up.
As Nino groggily sat up from the couch, she noticed Yotsuba and Itsuki sitting at the table, working on their test papers. Her face instantly filled with confusion.
"Am I still dreaming? Where did my daughter go?"
Nino thought she was still in a dream, but she didn't like this one. She much preferred the one where she was a mother.
At that moment, a completely emotionless voice suddenly came from beside her.
"What daughter?"
"Ahhhhhh!"
Miku's sudden outburst startled Nino. The issue wasn't the volume—it was the content.
Nino had already thought that this dream of hers was something she couldn't let others know about.
But now that her murmuring had been overheard by Miku, how could she not be scared?!
"N-nothing… Miku, you must have misheard…" Nino tried to play it cool, waving her hand dismissively.
Hearing this, Miku gave her a suspicious glance but didn't press the issue. Instead, she picked up a test paper from the table and walked over to Yotsuba.
"Huh? Miku, what are you doing?"
"Shiratori prepared test papers for everyone…"
As she spoke, Miku pointed to two other test papers on the table, clearly meant for Nino and Ichika.
"Huh? Test papers?"
Nino looked at the test papers on the table with great disdain and waved her hand dismissively. When it came to studying, she had zero interest.
However, as she recalled what had happened a few hours ago, she hesitated for a moment, then sighed and picked up a test paper.
"Ugh… guess I have no choice… I'll just do it half-heartedly…"
Nino thought to herself that if she wanted to win over Hakuto, being a good student wasn't such a bad idea…
And so, the original test paper duo expanded into a quartet, with only Ichika, the resident sleepyhead, still lying in her room.
"Yotsuba… let me see your test paper."
Since this was her first time showcasing her academic performance in front of Hakuto, Nino actually cared about it.
However, looking at the test questions, she realized she could answer some of the English ones, but the rest were completely blank.
Wanting to leave a good impression, Nino instinctively turned to Yotsuba, who was almost done with her test.
"No way! Shiratori-sensei will scold me!"
"Huh?" Nino was dumbfounded. She might never understand why Yotsuba held Hakuto in such high regard.
But Nino wasn't interested in figuring that out. Yotsuba had her own reasons, and nothing Nino said would change that.
"Just don't let Shiratori find out."
"But…" Just as Yotsuba was about to say something, a sudden clattering sound came from the kitchen.
"See? Shiratori-sensei is warning me! Nino, just do your own work."
"Huh? The bowl fell? Well, at least it didn't break…" Hakuto, in the kitchen, had no idea he had just unintentionally terrified Yotsuba again.
Meanwhile, in the living room, Nino stared at Yotsuba, completely at a loss for words.
"Shiratori is in the kitchen?" After hearing Yotsuba's words, Nino instinctively turned to glance at the kitchen.
From this angle, no way in hell could Hakuto see them cheating.
And yet, Yotsuba was still scared by the smallest disturbance.
That sound earlier was clearly just two porcelain dishes clanking together—how did Yotsuba interpret that as a warning?
Sometimes, Nino really felt like calling the police…
But in the next second, something happened that made her even more inclined to do so!
Because Hakuto's voice rang out from the kitchen once again.
"Do your own work!"
Nino: ⚆⚆?! He's not talking about me, right? Or… is he trying to bait me?
Nino instinctively glanced around, clearly spooked by Hakuto's sudden shout.
"Stop looking! I'm talking about you!"
Nino: ⚆⚆?!
Now, she was absolutely certain—Hakuto was talking about her!
She had no idea how he saw her, but it was undeniably directed at her!
"See? I told you Shiratori-sensei knows exactly what we're doing…"
"Who was Shiratori talking about just now?"
"Nino…"
"Did he… install surveillance on me?"
"Hahaha! Being a teacher is so much fun!"
