The soft hum of night wrapped around their apartment, and the warmth from the overhead lights painted the bedroom in a glow that felt safe—soft gold dancing over the edges of their shared bed, their scattered clothes, and the thin curve of Kaiya's tail flicking lazily near the edge of the comforter.
Jin closed the bedroom door behind him with a quiet click, then leaned against it for a second, arms folded, eyes resting on the sight in front of him.
Kaiya sat on the bed, back to him, violet hair loose and cascading down her shoulders, brushing against the oversized white shirt she wore—his shirt, the one she always stole when she wanted to feel extra cozy. Her legs were folded beneath her, tail swaying slowly like a rhythm she wasn't aware of. She was staring at the window, looking at nothing, hand absentmindedly resting over the faint swell of her belly.
"You look like you're planning something," Jin said softly.
Kaiya glanced over her shoulder. "I was just thinking."
