Chapter 177 - Chapter 177: 40% Control Rating

In the residential area.

Axel arrived outside Kalia's room and knocked on the door. Shortly after, it opened.

Seeing Kalia, Axel said, "If you don't wish to stay here, I'll escort you back to Ruby City tomorrow morning."

Kalia nodded. The competition was over, and her gains from this event were significant - not only had her Pokemon's strength improved, but she also obtained the Strength Lens. It indeed was time for her departure.

"Thank you so much, Teacher Axel, for allowing me to visit the Pokemon Academy. I've seen numerous new Pokemon and learned a great deal during my stay," Kalia expressed her genuine gratitude.

Without Axel's assistance, Kalia would never have had the opportunity to attend such a prestigious institution as the Ruby Pokémon Academy. Although her visit was brief, she made substantial progress within those few days.

"Haha, it was just a small gesture. However, it's truly unfortunate that with your high talent, you couldn't stay longer." Axel smiled, expressing his regret.

In another part of the academy.

"Hand over the Flight Z-Crystal."

Sean chuckled smugly, his eyes gleaming with satisfaction. Kalia had not disappointed him, defeating Hassa and securing Sean's victory in their bet, earning him the coveted Flight Z-Crystal.

This was truly a remarkable item - a cutting-edge creation from the Ellie Region Research Institute, harnessing the enigmatic power of Z-Moves. Many high-level trainers didn't even possess such crystals yet.

By sheer luck, Sean already owned two Fire Z-Crystals, but unfortunately, they were incompatible with his Pokemon. The Flight Z-Crystal, however, was different; it would enable his Braviary to unleash a devastating Z-Move.

As a Flying-type Z-Move, although usable only once per battle, its power was absolutely terrifying, and crucially, it lacked any significant side effects.

To activate a Z-Move, however, one requires a Z-Ring, which Sean currently did not have.

Watching Sean take away the Flight Z-Crystal, the other student displayed a pained expression. This was his last remaining Z-Crystal, originally intended for his Pokemon once he acquired a Z-Ring.

However, due to this bet, Sean had won it fair and square. The blame lay solely on Hassa's incompetence; with such a formidable team, he still couldn't defeat Kalia.

"Sean, how about selling your Fire Z-crystal to me?" another student suggested. He happened to have a Fire-type Pokémon, so even without the Flight Z-crystal, acquiring a Fire Z-crystal would be valuable for him, despite potentially having to spend more money.

"I'll sell it if you can provide me with a Z-Ring," Sean responded. Currently, what he lacked most was a Z-Ring; everything else seemed insignificant compared to obtaining one.

"Forget it, I can't get my hands on a Z-Ring either." The student shook his head; if he had access to a Z-Ring, there would be no need to bet against Sean—he would simply train a promising flying-type Pokémon himself.

After the other students left, Sean held two blue Flight Z-crystals tightly in his hand. As a member of the advanced class at the Pokemon Academy, he quickly gained insights into various Pokemon technologies developed by the research institute.

During a battle, a Trainer can activate a Z-Move only once because it requires resonance between the Trainer's Z-Power Band and the Pokémon's Z-crystal, significantly draining both the Pokémon's energy and the Trainer's stamina.

After using a Z-Move, weaker Trainers may even become exhausted, making it impractical to employ more than one Z-Move per battle due to the substantial physical toll, akin to completing a 10-kilometer run, leaving them unable to attempt a second use.

"Good thing Kalia didn't disappoint; my judgment is still spot-on," Sean murmured to himself. Even he was impressed by Kalia's formidable strength. Hassa, on the verge of becoming a mid-level Trainer, couldn't stand up against that Charmeleon despite his capabilities.

Unfortunately, Kalia didn't stay at the academy, and obtaining a Z-Power Band in the Sebas region was impossible since they were developed exclusively in the Ellie Region. Otherwise, Sean would have considered giving her the extra Fire Z-Crystal, but currently, it wouldn't serve much purpose for her.

"Well, we'll see about that later." Tucking away the Z-crystals, Sean left the area and returned to his residence.

Late at night, within the system space.

Tomorrow marks Lian's departure from the academy, and he feels somewhat reluctant to leave. Earning Combat Points here has been incredibly fast, accumulating over three thousand daily, with today being exceptionally lucrative.

The Pokemon battle against Hassa was truly nerve-wracking. Once Sunny Day disappeared, if Blissey had used Soft-Boiled again, Lian likely wouldn't have stood a chance to defeat it.

Lian reviewed the combat data, focusing on Blissey's attributes panel. The Blissey had reached level 41; although there might be slight inaccuracies, it was close enough. Its Stamina ability value was an impressive 2,620 points, while its Special Defense ability value soared to 1,130 points. For most typical special attacking Pokemon, facing such a Blissey would seem hopeless.

However, Blissey's Defense and Attack abilities were significantly weaker, barely surpassing one hundred points, creating a vast disparity compared to its Special Defense values.

Additionally, both Feraligatr and Togekiss were also level forty Pokemon. Hassa undoubtedly deserved his reputation as the strongest student in the mid-level class, boasting significantly higher Pokemon levels than others.

For instance, Cassia's Pokemon were only around level thirty-eight or thirty-nine. Although just a difference of one or two levels, it signifies a substantial gap. Fortunately, Lian had the advantage of the system, allowing him to overcome these level disparities easily.

Lian reviewed the detailed battle statistics from today's match. Although some figures slightly deviated from his initial estimates, they were not significantly off.

Firstly, during the encounter with Blissey, after using Flamethrower and Weather Ball initially, Lian could have followed up with Dragon Rage. Based on the data, after employing Flamethrower and Weather Ball, Blissey still had over 400 HP remaining. Even if Lian had used Dragon Rage at that point, it wouldn't have incapacitated Blissey.

However, he misjudged Blissey's HP by underestimating around a hundred points. Concerned that using Dragon Rage might accidentally defeat Blissey, he chose not to employ it.

The second wave of attacks went smoothly as Blissey utilized Soft-Boiled to recover its stamina and injuries. With Lian's combination of moves, Blissey was quickly reduced to just over 700 HP.

Fortunately, the error margin wasn't substantial. During the third wave, Sunny Day was about to expire, so Lian opted to use Weather Ball first. Then, decisively consuming pure fire-type energy, he amplified the power of Flamethrower, effectively unleashing a Fire-type move with a base power equivalent to 117, stronger than Inferno. Finally, adding Dragon Rage, he precisely defeated Blissey.

Lian realized that using pure fire-type energy to enhance Flamethrower's power was more advantageous than casting Inferno. In future battles, if he could extract sufficient pure fire-type energy, it would be preferable to amplify Flamethrower.

Finally, Lian glanced at today's combat rating score, his eyes lighting up as expected.

Combined Difference Reward: 8,098

Total Combat Value: 8,214

A reward of over eight thousand Combat Points, primarily due to Ninetales' defeat; otherwise, it likely would have exceeded nine thousand.

Even with just over eight thousand, Lian was highly satisfied. During the battle against Blissey, he had used Flamethrower three times, Weather Ball thrice, and Dragon Rage once before ultimately defeating Blissey.

Most of the output rewards were earned from battling Blissey. Without this encounter, Lian definitely wouldn't have achieved such a high Combat Point gain.

With over eight thousand Combat Points, Lian precisely reached the threshold to increase his Fire-type Energy Control Rating to 40%. Without hesitation, he promptly accessed the Fire-type Energy Control Rating and began the upgrade process.

By tapping four consecutive times, the Fire-type Energy Control Rating instantly jumped to 40%. Each increment of 10% seemed significant, although Lian couldn't immediately perceive the change, he knew there was a substantial improvement in his control abilities.
