Chapter 385 - The Same Games  

It was just supposed to be a quick walk, a way to take a break and get some fresh air. It wasn't supposed to turn out like this.

 

Père had been driving me crazy. He kept to his word and was silent the entire time, but every last one of my nerves was focused on him, waiting for him to strike. The fact that he was just a head without a body and therefore completely incapable of hurting me was besides the point.

 

I was strung up and strung out, and no amount of banana-flavored lollypops was going to make me any calmer.

 

"Let's go for a walk," suggested Tank, his voice soft and soothing. But even that familiar voice made me flinch like I was expecting an attack. Seeing my reaction, all of the guys had an almost visceral reaction.

 

"Sorry," I sighed, closing my eyes. I loved the head, I really did. And if it were anyone else's head, I probably wouldn't be like this, but it wasn't anyone else's. "I didn't mean that."
