Chapter 24 - Chapter 24

RHODA

I knew something was off the moment Nicole insisted on meeting me at the garden, where of course no on rarely goes .

It was night, at around nine pm, and if course it was risky for us out there.

"Hurry up with what you have to say," peering around to see if someone was coming I ordered her.

Nicole looked around as well, and then cleared her throat.

"Well, I did a little digging on Violet and found some things that just don't add up," she said, her eyes fixed on me. "A young girl lived with Charlotte, registered under the name of Aria, but now she's using Violet." Nicole paused, her lips drawn in a tight line.

"This could be either Charlotte hiding her, or she's a spy sent to our pack."

A chill ran down my spine, and the blood drained from my face.

Tense silence that even a pin drop could be heard.

Nicole was right, if a young girl had lived with Charlotte before, then who was Violet. I had suspected as much, but hearing it aloud made it real.

"Did you do find out anything about Charlotte, her kids, husband and... Grand kids?" I needed to be sure that the assumption was right.

"Research only showed her husband, but every other details are confidential hidden from the public." Nicole replied. Whatever she's up to, Charlotte has been careful to keep it under wraps.

I smiled ruefully knowing it was just a matter of time and Violet would be down, away from our lives.

Who knows this might just be another chance for Mason to reward me, or perhaps make me his Luna as his reward. I've taken down Spies in the past, and they all narrow down to getting several rewards and ranks. That had earned me the spot where I was, it was my hard work not favor like Violet.

Violet had barely done anything positive to the pack, but yet, the way the Alpha King looks at her was different.

I sigh, and then started walking towards the pack house again, but then stopped.

If Violet was sent as a spy, it could only be from the Rival pack, or perhaps a pack that had interest in theirs.

"We need to dig deeper," I said, my voice low and determined. "Look into the nearby packs, see if anyone is missing. We need to know who sent Violet, if she was sent at all."

Nicole nodded, understanding flashing in her eyes. "I'll get on it," she said, turning to leave.

"I'll handle her movement from here." I ordered, as I continue walking.

ADRIAN

These days had been quite a hectic one, I literally can't recall the last time I had a rest, it had always been from fulfilling the pack duties to work demands, and managing the company. Nights weren't excluded either. Call me a workaholics, I'd take that.

But then that was my therapy of trying to forget about Violet's death. In as much as it hurts to keep brooding over her every day, with Ares acting like a dick, picking up every slightest timing and narrowing it down to Violet. The lad hadn't been happy with me since Violet departure, and if only I could avert the time of hand. But it was too late.

I sat in my office, drawing out a plan for out new project, expanding the Wolfe empire to the human world had been my goal, and I was just a minute away from achieving that. I've been meeting with several business people signing deals a d bagging contracts with top company that wants to work with us. My fingers flew across the keyboard, as if the speed of my typing could outpace my thoughts.

I knew I was running myself ragged, but I didn't care. I needed to keep moving, to keep myself busy, to stop my mind from drifting to the dark places it wanted to go.

But no matter how fast I moved, how hard I worked, there was always something missing. Her. Violet. Her laughter, her touch, her scent, all of it was gone.

One Knock, at the door of my office jolted me away from thought as I narrows my gaze to the door.

Reynold entered, of course I knew it'd be him, but then his face wasn't looking like the usual Reynold. It had a mix of emotion like something sad had just happened.

"Spill Reynold!" I ordered before he could say anything. Of course I knew when he have something to say, because he was always looking so worried.

He blinked his eyes, worrisome eyes met mine, "They've been an attack on the pack border, but the culprit ass not found," he broke down, of course an attack simple implies that other pack had invaded ours.

"How many was killed?" My blood was boiling hot, this long term rival with the Redmoon pack was annoying. I would have killed that bastard when I had the time to, and now he dared to invade my pack?

"Two bodies was found with a strange mark," he replied, I knew he was as tensed as I was. The pack affair was his also, so I knew how I felt to interpret how he was feeling too.

I paused reflecting in his words, A Pack Invasion wouldn't just have two people killed, it'd be more. So, I doubt that would be the case.

"Was there any fang print to indicate they were attacked on their wolf form or how?" I knew Reynold to be precise with details.

"No, I checked personally, no prints just..." He trailed for a while as if recalling something.

"Just a strange weird mark, and it awkwardly found in both bodies" I was startled. If they both had a similar mark then it was suspicious. That had never happened since the entire year, I had assigned my duty as the Alpha King.

Minutes later, we were at the pack border, I walked down to where the bodies lay, the mark was obvious, it was shining black, and of course that was suspicious just like Reynold had told me. No fang print, no trace of feasible prints, just the mark.

I sigh raking my hands through my hair, what sort of mystery is this? The fact that it only happens to two people shouldn't be overlooked before it spread out to the pack.

"I'll need to meet my father," I made known to Reynold, bringing out my phone as I took a clearer photos of the two mark wondering what sort of signature it was. The mark was sort of familiar, but then I couldn't remember where I had seen it ow what it implies.

"Take care of the bodies, I need to leave now," I declared walking down to my car. Hoping against hope that my father had a solution to this mystery.
