"Oh, this is really cool!" I said to Brakos.

"Glad you like it," Brakos said. "I made sure to add in some quests for you that will apply to your current tasks and some bonuses. When you want to add a quest, simply write on a blank page in this section and a quest will generate after a few hours."

"Understood, thank you," I said, thanking him.

"I should probably finish one quest now, right?" I asked Brakos.

"If you mean the second one, then I would recommend it. Your spiritual energy gains will increase over time now that you know what to do, so you will get more a lot faster. So, losing 200 isn't a problem."

I nodded and tried doing so. At first, I tried telling the book to absorb my Spiritual Energy, but nothing happened.

I looked to Brakos for help, but he said nothing. Clearly, he wanted me to figure it out myself, so I tried a few methods.

I wrote in the book saying I transferred it, searched through the book for instructions, gave it some of my blood, tried (and failed) to manifest my spiritual energy outside my body—but nothing happened.

I decided to take a minute and think. After a few minutes, I realized and felt stupid for not trying that first.

As the books are spirits and I have made contracts with them, I have a telepathic connection to them. If I use that connection and send Spiritual Energy through, then it will work.

I tried, and it worked immediately.

Brakos and Volt stared at me with smug expressions, but I said nothing.

When I put 200 Spiritual Energy into the book, it started to glow slightly, and I checked the Black Book.

The quest page stated:

{Quest 2: Book in a book-1}

{Task 1: Infuse NoteBook with 200 Spiritual Energy: 200/200: Complete}

{Task 2: Awaken your Powers: Complete}

{Quest Complete: Giving Rewards}

{Reward 1: LVL 2 Upgrade to the NoteBook} {Claim}

I said "Claim," and the book glowed even brighter than before.

I could feel a connection from the Black Book, and I moved to the Contract page for the Leather Book.

When I checked its contract page, it said:

{Leither Book}

{Rank 1}

I told Brakos and Volt that, and we waited to see what would happen.

After a minute, the glow dimmed and the Leather Book returned to its normal appearance. When I checked its contract page again, it said:

{Leather Book}

{Rank 1}

{Books registered: 1/2}

{Notebook, ???}

"Similars?" I asked out loud.

I turned to Brakos, but when I saw his face of confusion, I could tell he didn't know either.

When I asked the book what it meant by 'Similars,' it responded:

{Similars are the other 2 Books}

'My brothers,' the book thought to itself.

"Oh, that makes sense," I said.

Brakos placed a hand on his chin and said, "That's odd. It shouldn't have a consciousness yet."

"Maybe the Leather Book is influenced by the Black one. It may not want to get too far ahead of the others," I said, thinking it may understand something similar to brotherhood at the moment.

"Possibly. Like most mortal races, spirits aren't always 'born' with intelligence. We gain it over time. Maybe the evolution sped it up, and it may see the other 2 books as siblings..."

^Wouldn't that make you a father?^ Volt said to Brakos.

We turned to Volt in that instant.

"HAHAHAHA!" I burst out laughing, and Volt let out an entertained *Chuff*.

Brakos had a shocked expression and stayed frozen for a while.

"Let's not think—," *snickers* "—think about it that much. Hahaha. When they gain consciousness, we can address the matter properly," I said while chuckling to myself.

This managed to partially snap Brakos out of his trance, and we continued, but Brakos was still in shock from that comment.

As I checked out the Quest Page, it said:

{Quest: Book in a book-2}

{Task 1: Infuse NoteBook with 2500 Spiritual Energy: 0/2500: incomplete}

{Task 2: Gain any type of Perception/Sight Skill aside from Magic Sence: 0/1}

{Task 3: Create a list of all residents of the Village of Thornbranch and record their status: 0/2346}

{Reward 1: Rank 3 Upgrade to the Leather Book}

When I read the 3rd Task out loud, silence fell.

The birds stopped chirping, the wind stopped blowing, and the leaves stopped rustling. Almost as if the world could feel fear and knew it shouldn't move at that moment.

I sat there not moving as a tear fell from my eye and a blank expression on my face.

Brakos sat there with a scared face. 'The area froze! He isn't letting his Aura out. How is he doing this?!' Brakos was starting to internally panic, as this was something even he couldn't do.

^Jackson, are you ok?^ Volt asked hesitantly.

I turned to look at Volt and said, "No, I am not ok, but I must do this."

My reason why I said that was that I wanted to go and pay my respects and keep a record of everyone who died in that village, to help remind me that I want to become a protector and stop this kind of thing from happening again... or at the very least punish those responsible by showing them a hell like they have never seen.

"Brakos, I have one question to ask," I said in a cold tone.

"What is it?" he asked with a shaky voice.

"Did the Orcs attack because of me and my powers as a Primogenitor? Even if I didn't have them, they cast a spell that stopped others with Oracle abilities like Volt from seeing the attack. Is it possible that they knew about me and wanted to kill me to prevent my awakening?" I asked in a serious tone.

Brakos sighed, partially in relief and partially in fear. "They don't know. Technically, me giving you the books was changing your fate, so no one would have been able to see it."

"The only way they could have known was if they travelled back in time and told the Orcs. It's more likely that they attacked like normal, and it was a coincidence for all this to happen right now," Brakos explained.

I nodded hearing that, as now I knew I didn't have to feel guilty about unintentionally causing the attack.

"Ok, good to know," I said as I steeled my resolve to return to Thornbranch and pay my respects.

As I said that, the world started to move again, and Brakos relaxed a bit, still wondering what happened, while Volt didn't pay too much attention to our surroundings.

"Oh, I just remembered," I said in a playful voice. "Brakos, Volt has a skill that lets him see someone's fate, but when I am near, their fate changes. Is there a way to fix it?"

Brakos was surprised by many facts from that sentence.

One: Jack's voice took a 180-degree turn from a few seconds ago.

Two: Jack can change others' Fates.

Three: Volt explained how his skill works to Jack so soon after they properly met.

Brakos rubbed the sides of his head, trying to calm the slight headache he was getting, and answered, "What level is the skill?"

"Level 5," I said.

He nodded and thought for a moment. "At that level, and adding that you have established a contract and have a connection, your [Sight Of Fate] should work normally, as it can now adjust to Jack's abnormal Energy. That is, unless he intentionally gets involved or changes their fate, but for normal people, it should be the same."

^That's good. I missed using it.^ Volt said.

"Yeah, sorry about causing you problems with that, but I didn't even know I could do it," I said, apologizing to Volt. "I knew I was abnormal and could do weird things, but changing Fate was definitely one of the weirdest."

^It's alright. It wasn't intentional, so there is no problem.^ Volt reassured me.

We continued to talk for a bit, and I remembered the appraisal should be done. I pulled out the Blue Book and checked what was said.
