Chapter 25 - The way to hell

Adam sit on the city wall as he observes his skeletons fighting against the demons. Notifications appears one after another reminding him of all the killings his skeletons are doing.

Opening the settings, he disabled the notification so that it will stop ringing in his ears and bothering his view. He also opens his status panel and just slides it to the left as his experience value skyrockets with each passing second.

Adam looks at all his skill as he thought about which one to level up. The [Enchantment] is for sure getting level up to the same level as the others like [Smithing]. As for the rest of his exp, he pours them into [Mana Affinity].

The reason being that [Mana Affinity] has a very valuable effect. It reduces the amount of mana that is being used for otherwise the same skill. And with the amount of mana he is spending right now, he surely will need it in the future.

Suddenly, the ground shakes as Kharmol, who is standing in front of the portal starts to move to take action himself. Adam chuckles as he already expected that Kharmol can't sit still for long seeing his million strength army being decimated by his skeletons.

Summoning another skeleton, Adam orders it to intercept Kharmol. The skeleton gives a slide nod and flies towards Kharmol as fast as it could. Kharmol, not bothering with the skeleton that is flying towards him, swings his giant claymore towards one of the skeleton.

There are many things that he expects to happen but his claymore, shatters to pieces certainly isn't one of them. Looking at the one responsible for such atrocity, he sees the same skeleton that he ignores blocking his way with a fist at the place where his claymore supposed to land.

Kharmol: Who are you?!

As his voice booms into the battlefield, the skeleton ignores him and flies towards his face at the speed that even he could not react. The next thing he knows, he is flying back towards the portal as his helmet shatters to pieces with some of the shards embedded in his head.

Kharmol doesn't even get to react before the skeleton appears again behind him as if blocking his way back into the portal. He raises his fist to punch the skeleton but the skeleton easily deflects his punch and counterattacks with a jab to his chest.

His chest caved in as he gets flung away, falling right on top of his army. For the first time in his life, he experience what it feels like to feel fear. Even in front of the Demon King, he doesn't have this kind of fear. Every move he makes is easily countered. Every thought he has is like an open book to this skeleton. It's like his fate is sealed the moment this skeleton appears in front of him.

No. Not this skeleton. Looking back at the city wall. He sees a tiny human. Unremarkable at first glance. But if all of his skeletons has this kind of combat power, the Nether is doomed. They haven't kicked an iron plate. They just kicked a Mithril plate.

But before he could do anything else, his head is punctured by a small bony hand.

[Would you like to use your talent upgrade now?]

Adam looks at his skeletons that is still busy slaughtering the demons. He ponders for a while and asks the system a question.

Adam: Would my skills be cancelled if I upgrades my talent now?

[No]

Adam: Very well. Upgrade now.

[Understood. Talent upgrade initiating.]

An excruciating pain appears throughout his body. No. The pain is deeper than just in his body. It almost feels like the pain is from his soul. Adam falls to the ground on all four as he gasps for air, feeling like it has been an eternity before the pain finally subsides.

[Congratulations on upgrading your talent. Would you like to view it now?]

Adam doesn't answer as he is still gasping for the air on the ground. The pain is so strong and raw it almost makes him faint. He has never feel that kind of pain before. It's like having a part of you body being gouged up and inserting something else in its place. But instead of body, it is his soul.

After laying on the ground for a while, his skills starts to move and regenerate all his lost energy. 15 minutes later, he is back on his feet as he looks at the hanging panel.

Adam: Yes.

Looking at his newly upgraded talent, he can't help but imagine all the new possibilities for his talent. But remembering the important matters at hand, he put aside his imagination and deals with the demons first.

There is a reason why he decides to stay and not go straight home. It is because he is going to deal with the demons once and for all. Looking at the portal, Adam continues to pour his exp into [Mana Affinity] while the rest of his skeletons continues to clean up the remaining demons.

Not long after, he looks as all the demons are piled up into one big mountain. Swiping his hand, all the demons are put away into his inventory for later use. Adam stares at the giant portal and thought about it for awhile and summons tens of thousands of skeletons. Before this, a few hundreds skeletons already strains his mana consumption but now, this tens of thousands ain't even making him frowns.

He arranges a few of the skeleton to clean up and continues the operation while the others will follow him into the portal. After all, if he doesn't go to hell, who will.
