Chapter 354 - 352 - From the ashes: Going with the flow

"I can't."

These two words killed the hope on Lumian's face, as his heart seemed to quiet down.

Evelyn looked at him, and elaborated:

"I can't just forgive and forget, Lumian."

Evelyn gazed at her younger brother, but her mind was on that day seven years ago, and on that day two days ago. When it came back to the present, she spoke again, even if only to repeat her words:

"I can't."

The living room quieted down again, so much this time that the quiet movements of Daemon in the kitchen came to add to the symphony of the drowning from the TV.

Lumian exhaled, and lowered his head, disappointed. He spoke, more to himself than to Evelyn:

"And to say that mom wanted us to be brother and sister again at the very least."

His voice was low, but not low enough to keep his thoughts to himself, making Evelyn raise her head to look at him. She looked deeply at her brother, then her gaze softened. She let out a slight smile, as she spoke with a gentle voice:

"You have grown up, Lumian."
