Genji Heavy Industries Building, private care ward.
Suddenly, someone pushed the door open and walked in holding a bouquet of flowers. "Looks like everyone is recovering well. You should be able to leave the hospital soon," he said.
He had slightly wavy short golden hair, wore iconic black-framed glasses, and his deep eyes were pure and clear, as bright as a baby's gaze.
His fair skin looked as though it had never seen sunlight, and his handsome features were complemented by a warm, gentle smile. He appeared to be a cheerful and charming young man.
However, the people in the ward looked at him with varied expressions and unanimously chose to remain silent.
An eerie silence enveloped the room. The golden-haired youth adjusted his glasses and chuckled softly. "What's this? Am I not welcome?"
Gen Chisei stayed quiet for a few seconds before breaking the awkward atmosphere. "W-Welcome," he stammered.
Yet no matter how you looked at it, the smile on his face seemed forced, as if he wasn't truly pleased about the visitor's arrival.
It was almost unimaginable that this single room could simultaneously hold the strongest Hybrid nd greatest Dragon Slayer in history, a yet-to-graduate student from Cassell College, a near-complete Death Servitor, the current head of Yamata no Orochi, and the new White King who had stolen divine authority.
The air reeked of medicine but seemed to carry an explosive tension.
This was beyond "tense relations." To call it "irreconcilable" might have been closer to the truth.
On one side was the White King. On another, the Dragon Slayer. On third, head of Yamata no Orochi. And lastly, a human-shaped Death Servitor. Together, they formed a precarious and volatile four-way dynamic.
Was Yamata no Orochi going bankrupt or something? Did it not occur to anyone to separate these people into different rooms?
Stuffing everyone into the same ward... If he found out who planned this, he'd personally crush that person's head!
Gen Chisei sighed, glancing at the tense atmosphere in the room. Beads of sweat formed on his forehead. "Um… maybe someone should say something. Staying silent like this isn't helping," he said nervously.
He was genuinely worried that if this continued, the Genji Heavy Industries Building—built at a cost of over a hundred billion yen and hailed as a Tokyo landmark—might soon be reduced to rubble.
And with the current economic downturn, Yamata no Orochi' finances were running low. If the building collapsed, he couldn't afford to fund its reconstruction.
"What are you doing here?"
Hilbert, still seething over yesterday's events, wanted nothing more than to leap off his hospital bed and fight another 800 rounds.
What did he mean by, "Have you ever seen an adult seriously fight a child?" That single sentence had almost shattered Hilbert' resolve. It had taken him great effort to regain his composure.
"Isn't it a bit disrespectful to talk to your savior like that?" Adam's expression seemed hurt. "If not for me, you all would've turned to ashes by now, yet you can't even muster a simple 'thank you.'"
"Would the Dragon King really be so kind?"
Although still alive, Hilbert remained deeply wary of the dragons. "Who knows if you're scheming something else?"
"Hmm, I am indeed planning something."
Adam admitted it outright, his tone calm. "But from the results so far, it hasn't caused you any harm, has it?"
"Now doesn't guarantee the future," Hilbert locked eyes with Adam and said in a deep voice, "Adam Anglewid, what exactly are you trying to do? Stealing the White King's authority wasn't enough? Are you planning to restore the dragons' former glory and become the sole ruler after the Black King?"
"I'm not interested in ruling the world, that's the truth."
Adam placed the bouquet into a vase, then glanced at the sunny weather outside, smiling faintly.
"As for restoring the glory of the dragons, that's even more absurd. The mighty Dragon King may seem grand to humans, but on a larger cosmic scale, they're nothing more than ants or specks of dust."
Ants? Specks of dust?!
The moment these words left his mouth, everyone in the ward seemed utterly stunned.
How much confidence did it take to view Dragon Kings—who could easily destroy a city and were akin to natural disasters—as nothing but ants and dust?
"Are you thinking I'm exaggerating?"
Adam observed their expressions and emotions with great interest, finding it all very amusing.
"If the Dragon Kings are mere ants to you, then why did you steal the White King's authority?" Hilbert furrowed his brows.
Though Adam's words sounded exaggerated, they didn't feel like a joke.
Perhaps this was genuinely how Adam viewed the situation. Hilbert couldn't help but press further. "Doesn't that seem contradictory?"
"In truth, the two aren't contradictory at all."
Adam revealed a mysterious smile. "Because what truly matters isn't the 'White King's authority,' but the 'process.'"
"So, can I take that to mean you gained something far more important than the White King's authority during that process?"
Hilbert truly lived up to his reputation as the principal of the Cassell College. His mind was as sharp as ever. The moment he heard Adam's words, he instantly grasped the clue.
"In a sense, that's correct."
Adam sat down on the chair, chuckling softly. "I enjoy working with smart people. Why don't you reconsider?"
Although Hilbert harbored deep hatred for the Dragon Kings, he was no reckless brute. After calming himself, he pondered for a moment before gazing at Adam. "Cooperate? What exactly do you mean?"
"To put it simply, what you fear most is the revival of the Dragon Kings and the subsequent destruction of human society, isn't it?" Adam asked.
"Do you have a way to prevent that?"
The war between dragons and humans had persisted for millennia since the fall of the Black King.
Both sides were entrenched in a state of mutual annihilation. If the Black King returned, let alone the four Dragon Kings, humanity, who had once betrayed Him, would undoubtedly face extinction.
Other than war, completely eliminating one side, Hilbert couldn't imagine any other solution.
"What if I told you," Adam smiled faintly, "that I can put an end to the war between dragons and humans once and for all?"
Hilbert' expression froze for a moment, seemingly stunned by Adam's statement. It took him a long while to exhale heavily and look at Adam with a solemn face.
"If—just if—you can truly end the war between dragons and humans, I'd be willing to pay any price."
After speaking, he paused briefly and added, "But first, you'll have to prove to me that you can actually do it."
"Of course," Adam replied with a soft laugh. "Then let me extend an early wish for our pleasant collaboration."
At a private airstrip covered in manicured grass, Sleipnir had been waiting for some time.
This airstrip belonged to the Sakurai family. To show their respect as part of Yamata no Orochi, they specifically vacated it as a gesture of gratitude. At least this time, they didn't have to resort to landing on a random World War II beach like before.
Chu Zihang and Caesar climbed the steps into Sleipnir's cabin and, as if by tacit agreement, turned their gazes toward Hilbert and Adam seated inside.
No one knew what had transpired in the hospital room that day.
The only thing clear was that after a brief moment of shock, Hilbert exhibited an intense and fervent expression, ultimately agreeing to work with Adam and classifying the matter as an SSS-level secret.
And so, an unusual alliance was born.
The greatest dragon slayer in history was now sitting with the newly risen White King, chatting casually, even clinking glasses together.
With the roar of its engines, Sleipnir soared into the sky.
Hilbert had some matters to attend to, so he retreated to a private cabin, leaving Adam alone, savoring his red wine.
After much hesitation, Chu Zihang finally mustered his courage, walked up to Adam, and said, "H-hello, I want to know..."
"Chu Tianjiao, right?"
Adam swirled the wine glass in his hand and smiled warmly, saying, "No need to worry. You'll meet again soon. The trouble caused this time—I still haven't settled the score with that guy."
