After a bit of a staredown, Tyson finally decides to return Meowth, making this the first switch of the match. This was a bit weird, not in terms of the decision to switch out, even if he just sent the guy out.
But they aren't really pivoting for favourable matchups.
Whatever happens... Happens?
'Hey, who am I to judge?' I thought shaking my head.
They are committing to the fight which I can respect.
Ash who saw Grovyle heavily breathing also decided to switch him out.
"Donphan!"
"Corphish!"
Both Pokemon now locked eyes which got the crowd silent. The ruffian Pokemon starting the match with a move, uses [Bubble Beam]. The slightly slow attack made its way before Donphan as it used [Rollout].
*Pop!*
Multiple bubbles burst as they couldn't affect the incoming armour Pokemon.
Ash quickly thinking on his feet, gets Corphish to use [Crab Hammer]
"Fish!" He shouts as the crab's hands glow blue, with the Donphan just a few seconds away.
*Boom!*
The hit was super effective, sending the guy flying back.
"Yes!" I shout clenching my hands. It was essential that Ash gets this lead. Looking on at the downed Pokemon it still wasn't finished.
Suddenly it gathers a lot of energy as it shoots like a comet, running back with more momentum.
It was [Giga Impact]
'Come on, ref do something! This brother is cheating." My thoughts were filled with disbelief as almost every Pokemon had [Hyper Beam] and [Giga Impact]. There's actually no way that move is so cheap as a TM that Tyson has it on his whole team.
Sceptile, Donphan, Metagross and Shiftry had one of the moves for gosh sake.
Damn...
"Phan!" The armour Pokemon roars out.
Corphish readying another [Crab Hammer] fearlessly charges forward without any fear.
A true soldier indeed.
*CRASH!*
A smoke cloud bigger than the last one appeared as it took a couple of seconds to clear.
On the floor were the two Pokemon completely fainted.
4-3
Soon after this, Ash sent out Swellow. While the man himself was monologuing.
"That wasn't too bad Ash, but let's see how you handle this!" Tyson shouts sending out a Pokemon. A silent wave hit the stadium as everyone perked up knowing what this Pokemon would be, the titanic of a monster.
"Gros!" The iron leg Pokemon roars out.
It reverberated through the stadium as I felt goosebumps seeing the Metagross. But beside me, my parents and the rest of the audience were cheering.
This was a real Pokemon battle!
Swellow getting a command, glowed a bright blue and went straight for its target.
Metagross not idling by had one of its arms glow a bright silver hue. Soon after this, the charging Swellow was met with a fist as [Aerial Ace] was beaten by [Bullet Punch]. This sent the bird flying back.
Before it could hit the ground, it regained itself and glided to the floor.
The bird once again regained its blue hue as this time the Metagross used [Confusion]. The confusion hitting made the Swellow struggle as it barely got by and hit Metagross square in the forehead.
"That's what it needed, but I don't see a visible dent," I murmur seeing it different from cannon. But my eyes widen in realisation.
Instead of starting with [Confusion], he gets a hit in first unlike Cannon. So Swellow never really got to get that full-powered hit which got Ash to target the wound.
Fuck.
"[Meteor Mash] Metagross!" Tyson orders. He's had the same fierce look since the start of the match.
Swellow trying to escape the pseudo-legend's wrath, tries to fly upwards. Unfortunately for it, it was too late.
*Slam!*
*Crash!*
On the floor was a downed bird and the metal monster looming over it with a cold look.
4-4
It was now the final stretch of the match.
Ash who saw this, turned to his side and got his day one to hop into it. The child of Arceus himself, Pikachu. Watching the tiny rodent face off against that metal monster was a moment worthy right there in itself.
Taking my phone out, a quick snap saved the moment.
Pikachu not wasting time used [Quick Attack] to close the distance. Metagross not prepared was immediately clocked with an [Iron Tail] making it stumble back just an inch.
Soon after this, a pink hue started to head towards Pikachu and the poor guy started to groan in pain.
[Confusion]...
'Where is [Psychic]? I mean maybe it can't learn it yet as it can evolve early with other Metang and Beldum which would make sense.' My thoughts were soon interrupted as Pikachu was sent flying with a [Meteor Mash].
*Crash!*
It didn't need psychic moves after all.
4-5
With Ash only having his speed demon left, it didn't stand a chance.
After a few traded blows and no apparent weakness for Grovyle to exploit. He soon after got grinded down by a few [Confusion] and [Bullet Punch].
4-6 and Tyson wins.
Standing up I clap at the amazing battle.
This caused a ripple effect as others including my parents did the same, all giving Ash and Tyson props for the battle. Soon the whole stadium was up in uproar as Ash who was a little bummed out, heard the commotion and looked over.
Seeing this, his smile returned as Tyson went up to him. They exchanged a few words before they both laughed together.
Getting my phone I send a few chats.
...
[POV Ash Ketchum]
"Pikachu that was such a fun match! Did you see the crowd?" I tell Pikachu with a wide smirk.
I lost.
But that doesn't mean my journey has ended.
I'll just try again!
Walking down the tunnel and heading towards my friends. I hear a notification coming from my PokeNav. Taking it out of my bag, there were a few messages which came from Sunny.
[Sunny: That was an amazing match!]
[Sunny: Make sure to bring your best like that when we battle in a conference. I'll be waiting for you Ash Ketchup!]
"Ash Ketchup!" I say pausing.
Soon after my laugh couldn't be held back. Pikachu who heard this, had his ears perked up sheerly from the addiction. Almost forgot he had such an extreme liking for it.
'Don't worry Sunny, just wait for our battle...' I thought clenching my fist in excitement.
Another thing to look forward to.
With this my journey continues, I couldn't let him down after all...
...
[POV Sunny Haruto]
With that banger of a match over, Tyson unsurprisingly like in Cannon won. After a bit of difficulty was able to win the title in the end. Ash and the group with Morrison, sat next to my parents and me as we all talked with joy.
Brock personally introduced himself to my parents as the "adult" of Ash's group and got their approval.
Such as reassuring them on my journey which I had to thank the guy later.
It was quite fun.
But now the man of the hour had some prizes.
Like becoming an Ace Trainer.
Yeah, that was the prize on top of some cold hard cash in the bank account.
The Alliance had a system of their own to manage trainers with points to purchase things straight from them. Things like buying pseudo-legendaries were limited to Ace Trainers which seems like gate-keeping than anything.
But other Pokemon that weren't endangered or mythical/legendary weren't out of the table.
Or Fossil Pokemon because of their value.
That gives me an idea...
Sadly I haven't gotten to know anything about the APS (Alliance Point System) since my journey hasn't started.
Yeah, I have a Pokemon, but I haven't done any missions for points or even looked yet. Why do missions when my funds are all there, plus any Pokemon I need are catchable.
After scrolling through the web, it didn't take long for me to find a few things.
Such as the prize money, elite four challenge granted to winners and Ace Trainer benefits.
It was pretty good.
₱100,000 or 5,000 Alliance Points (AP).
While Ace Trainers straight up got access to higher level missions, starter perks for descendants, travel benefits, sponsorship deals, higher access in alliance points shop, higher level tournaments and benefits of public exhibition matches, which a good chunk of ticket sales go to yourself.
The list of benefits kept on going and writing it all down felt redundant.
All I knew was that they were the elite of the elite of trainers.
'Ahh! That makes more sense why everyone at Saffron was so impressed by the young Ace Trainer.' I thought to myself.
He was a prime target to marry too.
Benefits to their kids?
Tyson will have cougars all over him.
The rest of the week spent was quite enjoyable but my interactions with May were limited. She mostly ignored me which was a little bit of a bummer. After a bit, it was finally time for me to head back home.
Now with new friends and more importantly.
Connections.
I had Ash, Tyson, Brock, May and Morrison's numbers.
Tyson was a Gary Sue- Ace Trainer, Brock was a gym leader, May was the daughter of a gym leader and Morrison had a Metang.
Honestly, it was because he was a fellow Swampert enjoyer.
In just two weeks my life changed drastically.
...
[Time Skip - Two Months]
"My heart," I murmur purchasing another item.
It was quite hefty being a table, but Marshtomp can help move everything. Thankfully it easily fit into the Silph-Co bag.
"Tomp..." My adorable Marshtomp cries out looking at me after he puts the table in the bag.
Seeing this I rubbed right under his chin which made the mudfish growl in satisfaction. Currently, I was at the Saffron Mall and purchasing all the equipment Brock and I looked up.
It's been a few hours since I've been here since the morning.
The bustling mall packed with people and Pokemon everywhere was quite the sight. With my trusty Ace by my side, any nervousness was gone as he was my perfect boy.
X-Trek backpack and the poke block machine were the first purchases and there was no way I was moving around with all the items in hand. My list was finally complete as there were still a few more objectives.
Such as filling the bag with water it can naturally keep it cool.
'250 liters it said.' I thought of going to the market to buy some more supplies.
My job as a battle server was now done with my balance looking very healthy for my journey.
I need to think about my future as being a trainer doesn't feel too profitable.
Maybe catching rare Pokemon like fossil Pokemon to breed. As revived Pokemon who were out couldn't reproduce at all which would be my advantage. Even then revived Pokemon were basically a luxury to the extremely rich and mainly unknown to the public.
Outside, their remains are up on display.
I could get a tribe of Squirtle from those islands and hire breeders.
The Dragonite Island?
Larvesta infestation at Unova?
The money-making ideas were endless but for now, they can be set aside. There was no need to rush. Filling up my bag's water space with multiple bottles for a bit and buying supplies to be frozen in the fridge.
It was time for me to check one more thing.
...
"Haruto sir, here's your scan!" The familiar scene of Nurse Joy handing me papers happened again.
Hey, what could I say?
It felt like the games.
Why wouldn't I check the levels of my Pokemon at almost any breaking moment? If there wasn't a price on it, there's a chance it would be looked at every time a battle ended which was basically every day.
Real progress was motivation.
---{[---{[Marshtomp Scan]}---]}---
Pokemon: Marshtomp
Level: 19 > 24
Type: Water/Ground
Ability: Torrent
Egg Moves: Refresh, Mirror Coat, Barrier,
Moves: Growl, Tackle, Mud-Slap, Water Gun, Rock Throw, Rock Smash, Protect, Foresight, Supersonic, Mud Shot, Water Pulse, Hydro-Pump (New),
---{[---{[]}---]}---
Marshtomp as usual had some very steady but much-needed progress. After a few more weeks of training with targets at the Battle Club, he learned Hydro Pump before he could naturally get it in the games.
It was a sign of growth for me as training from my notes paid off.
Something I researched myself benefited me.
---{[---{[Mankey Scan]}---]}---
Pokemon: Mankey
Level: 13 > 19
Type: Fighting
Ability: Defiant
Egg Moves: Night Slash, Meditate,
Moves: Covet, Leer, Scratch, Fury Swipes, Low Kick, Close Combat, Seismic Toss, Pursuit, Karate Chop, Focus Energy, Swagger (New)
---{[---{[]}---]}---
He has gained a single level more than Marshtomp due to the Muay Thai training.
It felt a little frustrating seeing my Ace not gain as much experience due to my lack of information, but the consolation was the move he learned. Mankey though is still an energy demon overall. His speed and power are gradually improving.
His main training regimen included a weighted macho-brace.
While Marshtomp did the same, Mankey did Muay Thai spars with me on top of normal training.
Ash right now should have completed the Battle Frontier.
But now.
It was time for me to head off for my own journey.
