Once their target enters the safe house, they will try to return to their original positions. Any enemies blocking their path will be killed, but if approached from behind (if not burned to death by the lava), they will be ignored.
Once the mechanism is understood, it becomes quite simple to manipulate.
By having one person pick up food or water and then purposefully wait in place, they could actively lure a Lava Creature to kill.
Even if the players were divided into several smaller teams, each team exceeding eight people, they basically could, with one round of concentrated fire, instantly kill the less powerful Lava Creatures; for the slightly more powerful ones, they would shake them off while running away, and once twenty-five players gathered, it would only take two or three rounds of concentrated fire to defeat the enemy.
Before long, the players had killed over eighty Lava Creatures—in less than half a day.
