Chapter 3 - Moment of truth

There was an immediate bustle in the surroundings as the media tried to focus the live camera on the woman who dared to interrupt the Mr. Yadav, in the middle of his speech. It was not something a mere woman would do without an ounce of hesitation in her voice.

Kavya pulled herself from the back of the crowd of reporters and looked around her enjoying the growing impatience and curiosity amongst the audience.

She moved forward with deliberate slow steps as if teasing the audience....

"She seems to come from an affluent rich family but still who in their right mind would interrupt Vikram."

"Yeah, look at his sudden expression, his fiery eyes wants to burn her at this exact moment. What a pity, she is so young with a pretty face but it might be her last day. She might just disappear before she can establish herself", whispered one person.

"Exactly!", Agreed the other person, "But don't you think she is kind of familiar...?"pondered the other one.

"Both of you JUST Shut up and watch" chimed in a third person with an entertained look on his face.

When Kavya reached the foot of the stage, the whispers toned down, paparazzi and reporters elated at smell of a juicy headline content, as if luckily a controversy would start had already started clicking photographs and digging information to unravel her mysterious shroud.

"Omg! Look I just googled her image and she is actually the daughter of Mr Abhinash Singhaniya, remember that controversial articleof last year . If we can cover this story property, boss might give us extra bonuses as this is gonna be hit."

"Wait, wh-...Bu- but I thought she was also burnt in the car accident with her father and brother. Only Mrs Singhaniya, her mother made it right...?She is admitted in hospital . Mr Yadav is the sole in-charge of the company right now. He blamed police for their casual approach and incompetency.

"True I heard the company have started make its way back once again to reclaim their former glory but it is certainly not glorious as before!"

"Yes, this caused such a huge chaos in the business industry. There were huge abrupt downfall in stock market and so many losses of the company, there was such a huge scandal" – one reporter whispered loudly. "But if she was alive, where was she for so many days. Remember the police cases because her body was not found. Mr Yadav was livid."

"Well, there is obviously an agenda for choosing today as the RETURN date ...There is something very fishy about this whole incident. Anyways let's head towards near her to cover her better. Oh, I love this."

Her elegant poise paired up with her sleek black dress hugging her slender waist, accentuated by a delicate belt was successfully drawing admiring glances.

A wicked sinister grin danced on her lips as she climbed up the stairs which teased the audience .

She didnot even spare a glance at Kunal who was stepping forward to talk with her , instead brushed past him towards Vikram, who glared at her.

She brought her face closer to Vikram's and covering the microphone with her hand, muttered softly, her voice a whisper, "Good morning uncle, having a great day."

The words seemed to shake Vikram out of his daze as he jolted backwards, but he quickly recovered and exclaimed loudly, " How !You – you were alive?? Oh, thank God. My dear I was so worried. All these days I desperately tried to find you.", and then he inquisitively asked , "Where were you all these days ...how did you manage to survive these days? Everyone thought you died!!!"

Kavya narrowed her eyes, "Don't fret uncle. Everything will be known in the right time....You don't seem very happy to see me. I wonder why? Guess I was a fool hoping that you missed me, but don't worry, I missed you VERY much. I can assure you G

THAT I thought about you the most throughout last year",

She motioned him to step down with a deep intense gaze which screamed

"Move It is my turn to speak now."

The audience along the other members of the company, who were watching with bated breath, and the reporters who were doing a live broadcast and taking self-notes looked up attentively as soon as Kavya cleared her throat.

The discussion amongst businessmen and distinguished members of society present werepaused as their eyes fixated on the podium

Some had their brows furrowed, some had a relieved face WHEREAS some were in total shock or confusion.

Kavya took the podium, with the company's logo emblazoned behind her, her eyes cold and determined head held high. She started addressing the audience, her voice strong and clear.

"Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. Thank you for being here. On this eventful occasion let me reintroduce myself. I am Kavya Singhaniya, the daughter of the late President, Mr. Abhinash Singhaniya and the former CEO, Mrs. Anita Desai. As you all know, my father was a remarkable man, a visionary leader who built this company from the ground up. But sadly, he and my brother are no longer with us. It was rumoured that I was dead but I was admitted to a hospital and –"

A reporter interrupted her, "Then why did you not clarify that to the public...Wh-"

With a grim voice Kavya replied, "WHEN The times comes, I will surely inform everyone myself...."

Vikram listened on with growing seriousness and nervousness as Kavya's voice turned colder and colder .

Her icy eyes shot daggers at him. She stopped for a moment, letting the GRAVITY OF her words sink in and then continued

She went on, "Today happens to be a very important day for The Glassglow. Some of you know might have known me from before the accident. For those of you who do not, a year ago on 3rd September 2022, my father after a few board meetings announced me, his daughter, Kavya Singhaniya, as the person who would take over the position of the CEO.

AN unexpected catastrophe had tried to stop us .However we have successfully overcome that hurdle. Now that I am finally back, overruling his last decision for the company would be an insult to the company and his deceased soul."

The room showed a variety of expressions and responses from different corners and a chaotic commotion at the sudden announcement erupted.

Kavya continued, seemingly conveying unfazed at the sudden commotion, "Please take note of the words I am going to say right now...Due to my father and brother's untimely demise,I could not attend official duties and went on a hiatus.

Our Ex ceo ,my mother is currently in the hospital and I have decided to take decisions in her stead naturally until she is here medically fit declared by the doctor.

"I've been chosen by the one person who truly matters - the late-president. The voting process was already conducted and the outcome was always clear: I was selected to lead this company.

And now, here I am to reclaim what's rightfully mine - the CEO position at Glassglow. I'm gladly looking forward for your support and excited to bring the company together with everyone to new heights.

I believe that it is time to rewrite the story of Glassglow and under my leadership INNOVATION will meet LEGACY.Together we will shatter expectations....

The utter chaos that followed was something that pleased Kavya. Without another single word, she got off the stage and walked out confidently without looking back at the disarrayed crowd.
