Chapter 9 - Chapter 9. Bargaining with the Devil. Part 1.

Neither man answers. The only sound is the hum of the air conditioning, the faint buzz of the city beyond the glass.

Maxwell's lips curl into a thin, humorless smile that shows way too.kcu teeth . "Fix it. Or I'll find someone who can." he promises darkly.

He turns on his heel and leaves, the door swinging shut behind him with a final, echoing click.

Gina wakes with a start, heart pounding, the memory of pain lingering in her bones.

The city is quieter now, the sky streaked with the last light of day.

She hauls herself upright, wipes her face with the back of her hand, her eyes brighter than they we're before

She has a plan, it's crazy and might get hr killed or worse but it's the only way.

The loan sharks might come back and there's really nothing else she can do that will give her that obscene amount of money in a short time.

Once more, she retirates that it is crazy but either way she's going to lose something.

At least, with this she can choose.

Grimacing at the aches in her bones, she turns around and starts walking back the way she came.

"Here goes nothing…."

The cold concrete beneath her knees bit through the thin fabric of Gina's pants as she crouched in the shadows just outside the facility's main entrance.

She was back to this hell hole once more.

The evening air was thick with the hum of distant traffic and the faint buzz of security cameras sweeping overhead.

She dared not move, her breath shallow, heart pounding like a drum in her chest.

Going back home was not an option—not now, not after everything.

Failure was a luxury she couldn't afford. Not when her grandfather's life depended on her.

Her still bruised body ached with every heartbeat, but her mind was sharper than ever.

She had made a decision: if the system wouldn't give her a chance, she would take it herself.

She would confront Maxwell Warren—the Alpha, the untouchable, the man who held the power to change her fate.

If she could convince him to use her, to see value in what others discarded, maybe she could rewrite her fate.

Maybe she could save her grandfather.

The sleek black car rolled slowly toward the exit. Gina's pulse quickened. Timing was everything.

She rose, limbs trembling but determined, and stepped into the fading light of the driveway. Her voice tore through the quiet evening air.

"Stop!"

The car's brakes screamed in protest, tires grinding against the pavement as it came to a sudden halt mere feet from her.

"Fuck." It worked.

***

(Few minutes earlier)

The sleek black car glides down the winding driveway, a low, steady hum emanating from its engine, a stark contrast to the turmoil brewing within Maxwell.

He sits rigid in the back seat, hands clasped in his lap, his gaze fixed on the retreating walls of the facility.

'All the eggs failed to implant.'

The doctor's words echo in his mind.

*There must be something wrong with me.* The thought makes Maxwell wrinkle his nose in disgust.

He is Maxwell Warren, Prime Alpha—flawless, unyielding.

Victor shifts beside the Alpha in his own pale blue suit, his unease palpable. "We'll find a solution, sir. There has to be one."

Maxwell's jaw tightens, his gaze sharpening but remaining unfocused. "There has to be."

Suddenly, the world explodes in a cacophony of screeching tires and jarring movement.

The car lurches violently forward, the seatbelt digging into Maxwell's chest as the driver slams on the brakes.

His head snaps up, eyes narrowing as he registers the figure standing defiantly in their path. A very familiar looking figure.

"What the hell is this?" Maxwell's voice is a low, dangerous growl.

Victor shakes his head and quickly opens the door, "I'll handle this sir, stay inside." He says with a stern voicr, eyes gaining that dangerous glint in his eyes when it comes to the safety of his Alpha.

Maxwell normally would rally against victor ordering him around for any reason (even his own safety) but today he lets him do what he wants, preferring to observe what will happen.

As soon as the beta steps out, the driver and bodyguard follows, muscles coiled and ready, his hand instinctively moving towards the weapon at his hip.

Victor's expression hardens as he recognizes the girl, a flicker of disdain crossing his features.

"Aren't you that low-level omega?" Victor spits out, his voice laced with contempt as he steps out of the car, his posture radiating authority.

"What are you doing back here?"

Gina swallows, her throat tight. "I—I need to talk to Alpha Maxwell."

"Get out of the way," the bodyguard growls, advancing with heavy steps. "This is your only warning."

She shakes her head, tears stinging her eyes. "No. Please. I won't move."

Victor's patience snapped. He nodded at the men. "Move her."
