A few minutes had passed since Kayden watched the last students leave — including Natalia, who, on her way back to the academy, stumbled upon a carriage. To her surprise, her father was inside.
Now, on the road back to the kingdom where she lived, she sat quietly, staring out the window. With nothing better to do, her mind drifted into random thoughts, like the different pie flavors she wanted to try. "Creampie… I wonder what that tastes like? Is it overly sweet?"
"Well, cake frosting is so sweet it makes me want to throw it out," she muttered under her breath, continuing to daydream until an image of Michael came to mind. "Hmm… Looks like someone caught my eye. Weird, though. I don't remember seeing him there… Ah, right. It was that cute guy."
A small smile formed on her lips—only to be replaced by a different image. Another person crossed her mind, and she let slip in a low voice, "Too bad… there was someone far more interesting."
