Owen Moreland didn't pay any attention to the ever-changing expression of the young traffic officer. He opened the driver's side door, got into the car, closed the door, and casually placed the fine ticket into the storage compartment. Leaning over to the copilot's seat, he helped Amelia Clarke buckle her seatbelt, before buckling up himself.
Dorothy Brown took her place in the back seat, without a word.
The car started slowly, then proceeded onto the main road at an unhurried pace.
Amelia Clarke glanced unintentionally and noticed two distorted vehicles not far away, so she looked a bit longer.
Turning her head back, she saw the thin clothes on Owen Moreland's body and felt a warm current of warmth surge through her chest.
"Owen..." She didn't really want to say anything, she just wanted to call his name.
Owen Moreland responded softly with a "Hmm."
"Owen..."
"Hmm."
"Owen..."
"Hmm."
"Do you find it annoying when I call you like this?"
