Chapter 85 - Chapter 84:Turmoil

I awoke to the sound of knocking no it felt louder than that.

"Oh…let me sleep!" I moaned and turned over in bed covering my head with a pillow.

However my plea was completely ignored as with a

Bang!

My bedroom door opened.

"Hey Huey get your ass out of bed before I…" Jordan came rushing in however his voice seemed to trail off. "Hey Huey…by any chance you didn't sneak out last night right?"

The moment I heard that question it was like a hundred volts of electricity had been fired into my brain. I sat up in an instant.

"Of course not!" I said a little too loud.

"Ah yes you just happened to be covered in dirt and scratches while sleeping in a perfectly clean room"

I admit, I had no come back from that one so the only thing I could do was sigh in defeat.

"Fine you win" I said trying to stand up but my body felt sore all over from last night's events. Jordan turning and peaked his head outside, probably to see if anyone was nearby, before entering and shutting the door behind him.

He walked over to the window before placing his back against the wall. His arms were crossed over his chest.

"So you going to spill?" he said in a serious tone to which I could only helplessly shake my head.

"Well there's no helping it then" I said now sitting on the edge of the bed. "So its like this…"

I spent the next few minutes recalling what I went through last night in the forest, what I had been planning to do, the encounter with the Dire wolf and lastly about the dreaded presence I felt and how I ran away inorder to avoid what I was sure to be certain death.

All the while Jordan listened intently. His face showing a seriousness that bellied his usual carefree behavior. Jordan wasn't stupid, in that we were of the same breed so to speak in the way that we thought and adapted to situations.

It was how we had always been. Even back then during the brief fight with Jerard Geon and his passe we hadn't even needed to talk to relay our roles. When I had charged at Jerard in a fit of blind rage I had done it with full confidence that Jordan would have my back and that he did.

He had kept the rest of Jerard's lackeys busy while I faced the person himself…if it could even be called that after all I had been crashed but that wasn't the main point.

The main point was that Jordan and I had a bond that transcended words so it didn't come as a surprise to me when he said:

"So we hunt, level up and then when we are strong enough we kill this thing huh"

I smiled slightly. "You make it sound like its going to be easy"

Jordan laughed.

"Is it ever?"

We both laughed for a while which caused the tension that I didn't even know had been in the air to vanish and the atmosphere between us to be a little bit lighter than before. After a few more seconds the laughs died down

"So how are we going to go to do it?" Jordan asked

"You'll know soon enough" I gave him a sly smile. "Right now though I need to take a bath before anyone else notices how much of a mess I am"

"Alright you do that then" Jordan said stepping towards the door but just before he reached it he said. "Oh and I've got some good news I want to share with you later"

With that he was gone leaving me standing in my now silent room.

"I wonder what he wants to tell me"

The shower had helped more than I would have thought. The house we were living in only had one shared bathroom but at the moment nobody had been using it so taking the opportunity I stepped into it. The walls were lined with white tiles and it consisted of an overhead shower that drained directly below as well as two taps that I believed were for the hot and cold water though currently it was all cold water.

Stepping under the shower the water cascaded down the top of my head. It felt like a coolant had been applied to my otherwise sore muscles causing them to relax and become soft.

I took the opportunity to take a look at my left arm where three distinct claw marks were. The wound was trying to close but it was gradual process, one that would take maybe a day or two. Of course those days may be converted into hours if I get Rina's help in healing it however that would take some explaining as to how I got the injury in the first place.

'Lying would be so obvious too' I thought. 'Its literally saying a beast with sharp claws managed to injure me'

I sighed but didn't otherwise think about more. Just relaxed in the shower washing away my dirt.

Clara Piers sat in her room lost in her thoughts. She had a bow and quiver of arrows laid down by her side. She gave them a glance. Complicated feelings welling up inside her.

On one hand she felt awe, respect and admiration. And yet at the same time she felt a sense of helplessness, guilt, sadness and most of all rage.

So much rage that she didn't even know what to do with it. It felt as though she was being pulled in two different directions and she didn't really know what to do about it.

'What would you have me do brother?'

For the longest period of her life it had been just the two of them. Her and her brother but now she it was just her and every time she thought about it an indescribable rage would swell up in her heart ready to explode and yet she didn't even know who to direct it at.

The cause of her brother's death could at the very least be described as accidental. So why?

Why was she getting this intense urge to kill? To rip to pieces the one who had caused such a thing even though the very person responsible was helping her?

"I don't know anymore" she sighed before she was lost in her thoughts once again as she struggled against her inner turmoil.
