Chapter 59 - Chapter LIX: Underestimated

Halfway across the world just as the hero's portaling plan began, Kisame stood in the rain that poured from the open hole in the roof of the bloody Chancellery.

Tsunade asked, "What are you even doing here? Aren't you one of the Tartarus escapees?!"

"You'd be correct. I'd like to help AFO secure his victory back home right now, but your leaders were conspiring with America to drop nukes on us pretty soon, so they had to be dealt with."

Both Sakura and Tsunade's eyes widened. Sakura blurted out, "Nukes?! You can't be serious! Our leaders would never agree to commit mass genocide like that!"

Kisame snorted, "Those who know..."

Tsunade butted in, "Hold on, you mentioned America, is one of your fellow goons attacking there too then?"

"Oops, did I say that out loud? Heh, it doesn't matter. Obito's always been faster than me when it comes to these things anyway. I'm sure he's finished his job by now. Now then, I don't have any qualms with you two, so if you turn the other way I'll let you go. I don't want to linger here."

Tsunade's mouth curled up and she cracked her knuckles, "You think I'm letting you get away with this? Over my dead body."

"If that's the way it's gotta be, then so be it. I'm in a hurry." Kisame sighed and threw his black cloak aside.

Sakura stepped next to Tsunade, but she held her hand up, "Stay back, I'll take him."

"Grandma, you can't be serious!"

"I am, just listen to me! This is supposed to be one of AFO's top guys, I don't wanna risk you getting hurt!"

"Grandma should take her own advice, but it's too late now." All of the rain coming through the opening in the ceiling suddenly froze and collected into a blob that formed into a shark and darted for Tsunade.

She cocked her fist back and blew up the shark, followed by dashing directly for Kisame and punching him with her full power. Kisame's arm morphed into a scaled, thick blade, and he blocked the punch but grunted and jumped back, getting punched through the wall.

The destruction kicked up a cloud of dust, and soon, cracks appeared in the ceiling before more of the building collapsed. Giving them all a full view of the sky. Kisame shook off his bruised arm and rubbed it, "Jeez you pack a huge punch." He thought, 'I'd like to avoid directly blocking if I can. Didn't think her fist would hurt that much.'

He transformed his arm back into a sword and four water sharks formed and went for Tsunade. She punched all of them, trying to close the distance with him, but when she got too close, he would swipe his sword at her before jumping away and putting more sharks in the way. She'd weave the sword every time, only letting it graze her, and would continue the cycle. Every time she made one explode, the water would spread out and reform into another shark. Sakura thought, 'He keeps running... He must know he can't take her on close-up. And can he only make four sharks at maximum?'

Kisame said, "You sure have a lot of energy for someone your age!"

She glared and punched the ground, causing Kisame to stumble on the destroyed ground, "And you talk too much!"

She launched forward ready to finish him, but he collected water around her head in a dome and made her choke, "Grandma!"

Sakura stepped forward and Kisame stated. "This is why I warned you, now I'm gonna flood your lungs and—"

—A devastating punch to his abdomen sent him crashing through the ground and coughing up blood while markings spread across Tsunade's body. She coughed out water and told Sakura, "I'm fine, Sakura... Have you forgotten who I am?"

Sakura sighed in relief, "I must have, sorry! You got this!"

Kisame struggled to his feet and caught his breath, "Damn, you really do punch like a tank... Explains the name..."

Sakura thought, 'Grandma's got this! But... I can't help but feel like she looks more tired than usual...'

Large amounts of water collected at everyone's feet and Kisame drew it all in. Sakura jumped back and Tsunade dashed in, "Whatever you're trying, it won't work!"

She tried to punch him, but he jumped back while the now ankle-deep water grabbed her legs. She easily kicked it off and stomped on the floor, making the water spread out before going to hit him again, but at this point, his appearance morphed into a more shark-like form, and he weaved past her punch and bit down on her arm, knowing and separating it from her shoulder entirely.

Tsunade yelled in pain and Sakura called out her name. Tsunade's arm regenerated and she looked at Sakura and held up her hand, "Don't—"

The rising water that formed at an ever-increasing rate drowned out what she was going to say, and it got larger and larger, destroying the entirety of the Chancellery building and forcing them all out in the open.

Once it finally stopped growing, it looked like a lake held together by nothing but Kisame's own water manipulation. Sakura gawked at it with a tense expression while Tsunade sluggishly moved and resisted in it.

Sakura thought, 'How in the hell could he make something like this?! There's no way he could have done this from the start, right?! Then why didn't he? Wasn't he in a hurry??' Everything that happened flashed through Sakura's mind like a reel, and she deduced something as her eyes lit up, 'No... no, he couldn't have. Otherwise, he would have done this right at the start! That's why he was fighting her like that... absorbing her energy through contact. That's why she seemed tired!'

Kisame swam past Tsunade at blinding speeds, taking bites out of her, and thought, 'This is why you should have backed off; your quirk is a bad matchup for the energy absorption AFO gave me recently. You're just a battery pack. Time to end this.'

Seeing Tsunade get fatally wounded over and over made Sakura's expression harden. And for the first time, the mark on her forehead spread across her body in its own unique pattern as overwhelming amounts of vril ran through her. 'Sorry Grandma, but I'm not letting you die!' "CHANAROOO!" She punched the lake with her full force and the water dispersed like a massive water balloon.

Kisame gasped and fell to the ground in shock while the water splashed down. 'How the hell can a random girl have this much raw strength?!'

Sakura caught Tsunade and laid her on the ground far away, quickly healing her wounds that healed way slower than normal. Tsunade's markings faded and she breathed heavily, "Sakura, get out here... he's too strong..."

The rainfall stopped, and Sakura turned back to Kisame, who stood up, still in his more shark-like form. "Sorry, but I can't do that! I'll have to finish him for you!"

"Sakura..."

"Stop underestimating me! This kind of thing is what I trained for! So let me show you how much progress I've made!"

Tsunade relented and hung her head low while Kisame glared at her, "I'll make sure to give your grandma a good view of your death before she joins you."

Sakura's hands shook but she clenched her fist and smiled, "Losing your cool, asshole? You sure you don't wanna be the one that runs away this time?"

Kisame growled at her goading and held his hands together, "We'll see who's smiling when I tear your arms off." making the water rise up to try and form a smaller lake than last time, but Sakura punched the air, causing air pressure so strong that it sent him crashing through the rubble.

While he recovered, she was already on top of him and he instinctively blocked by turning his arm into a sword, but she broke the sword in half, 'What the hell?! She punches harder than her?!' Sakura's fist didn't stop tearing through his sword arm and connected with his face, nearly caving it in as he spun across the ground.

He recovered poorly and held his broken arm while she charged at him again and punched the ground beneath them. The action caused hundreds of pieces of rubble to bounce up in the air around them and Tsunade watched in awe, 'She really has progressed a lot... She's really gonna surpass me before even graduating High School!'

Kisame formed a large water sphere around Sakura and tried to force the water into every orifice of her body. Sakura quickly choked and spread her arms wide to try and clap and disperse it. But Kisame made the water denser around her arms to hold them in place. "DON'T GET CARRIED AWAY, BRAT! YOUR TIME IS UP NOW!"

It seemed like he would succeed, but he got disrupted by a piece of rubble crashing into the side of his head and tearing multiple wounds into him. Tsunade stood heaving for breath with her fist clenched, and Sakura fell to her knees, coughing out water. Tsunade yelled, "Sakura! You got this! Win!"

Sakura smiled and stood back up to her feet then proceeded to run at the tired hunched over Kisame. Kisame's brow twitched and he thought, 'Damn it, I'm getting low on energy... There's no way I'm about to lose to a damn teenager!'

Sakura got within striking distance and shouted a battle cry with her fist cocked back for a haymaker, although a water shark from behind swiftly bit her arm clean off.

Tsunade gasped and Kisame smiled, 'I'm biting your head clean off, bitch!' He unhinged his jaw, but Sakura's determination didn't falter as her once cocked-back arm regenerated in an instant immediately after losing it.

"CHANNAROOO!" Her voice cracked as she literally snatched victory from the jaws of defeat and connected a full power punch straight into Kisame's chest that made his torso explode and sent him flying through the remaining ruined wall of the once glorious Chancellery.

'AFO… I'm glad… I served you…'

The dust slowly settled, and Sakura took deep breaths while her hand slowly fell and her adrenaline faded. She peered across the destroyed building and noticed the motionless corpse of what was Kisame and she froze. "Sakura."

She turned to Tsunade, who limped over to her, and Sakura ran to her side to support her. "Don't push yourself, Grandma. I don't think I fully healed you."

Tsunade pulled her into a hug and looked at her differently. She wasn't just a student in training anymore, but a formidable hero. "You did amazing, Sakura. You saved my life."

Sakura smiled softly and side-eyed Kisame's body. "Thank you but... I went overboard."

Tsunade placed a hand on her cheeks and turned her away from him and back to her, "You did what you had to to save both of our lives. It's not exactly something to celebrate, but... Sometimes this is necessary for the greater good."

Sakura pondered on Tsunade's words, and she added, "Besides, you probably saved some of the hero's lives over in Japan by giving them one less villain to worry about."

Sakura slowly nodded and looked east, "Yeah, you're right... I wonder how the UA guys are doing right now…"

Back across the world, in Japan the fight continued at the Jaku Hospital ruins with Mina, Kirishima, Kodai, Yanagi, Ojiro, and Shiozaki facing off against Orochimaru and Kakazu while the other heroes and villains fought their own battles.

Kirishima glared at Kakazu and Kakazu chuckled, "I recognize that look. Did I kill someone you knew?"

"Yeah... our teacher, Midnight."

"Oh, her... not my first choice for a heart, but it does its job."

Kirishima gritted his teeth and hardened before charging at him. Shiozaki yelled, "Wait!" Kakazu tried to stab him with tentacles, but they just bounced off and he haymakered him. Kakazu blocked, but his feet skidded on the ground.

Ojiro jumped in, "Guess we're starting now!" He ran for Orochimaru but got wrapped up in snakes from underneath who tried to bite him. But Shiozaki's vines ripped the snakes off while Mina slid in and tried to splash him with acid. Orochimaru spit out a large snake at her that took the blow and melted while he backed up.

Orochimaru said, "It's amusing that they couldn't find anyone better to fight us than children."

Kakazu cracked his neck, "Don't underestimate them. They're likely here cause they're stronger than most pro-heroes despite being kids. Watch out for the pink one especially. She killed Deidara."

Orochimaru eyed her with a big smile, "Ah yes, I heard about her. I'd like to see if she lives up to the story."

Yanagi yelled, "Don't forget about us!"

At the press of Kodai's fingers, a truck appeared right above both of the villain's heads, and Yanagi slammed them down onto them, seemingly crushing them.

Yanagi and Kodai nonchalantly high-fived each other, but Shiozaki said, "Stay wary my friends. It's rarely ever this easy."

Orochimaru slithered out from under the truck with some blood pouring from his forehead while Kakazu lifted and threw the truck off himself. Ojiro gawked, "How?!"

Mina clapped her hands together, aiming at Orochimaru, and sliced him in half with a pressure jet of acid. Shiozaki covered her mouth, "Mina!"

Mina replied, "Both of these guys are almost immortal! Normal attacks aren't gonna be enough!"

Kirishima rushed at Kakazu, "Just gotta take out some of his hearts!" But tentacles shot out of every part of him and threw him far through the crowd of heroes and villains.

'Kirishima and Mina seem like their main fighters... in that case...'

He stared at Ojiro, Kodai, Yanagi, and Shiozaki before bundles of tentacles split off him into four masked creatures. At the same time, Orochimaru regurgitated himself fully healed and he chuckled, "Using your ultimate move already? Come now, Kakazu. You have to ease the kids into it, let them build up some false hope first."

Kakazu replied, "I'm not here to enjoy a fight. I'm here to kill them and move on."

"Plain, but understandable," Orochimaru shrugged and an abnormally large purple snake burst out of his back and hissed at them.

The students gawked at the villains as the masked heart creatures surrounded them while Orochimaru stood on top of the snake that cast a shadow down on them.

They braced themselves and grouped up together while Yanagi's voice shook, "What are we supposed to do against that?!"

Shiozaki held her hands together, "Oh God... those masks are demonic."

Kodai had a cold sweat, "There's four of them... do you think those are his extra hearts?"

Mina's mouth tensed, and she thought, 'Can I send a jet through all those masks? They saw it once already, so they'll probably react... argh there's not enough time to think this through properly; they aren't gonna give us enough time to make a plan! Where the hell is Kirishima?'

Her thoughts were cut off by the masks opening and each of them shooting fire, wind, water, and lightning at them. Mina instinctively raised up a wall of acid to block the fire and wind, but her head jolted behind at the lightning and water coming at all the other students behind her. "NO!"
