Chapter 6 - Jealousy

-7:28

I woke back up cuddling with a teddy bear I remember falling asleep in Sire's arms while in the bath.

I looked at what I was wearing and was amazed at the quality it was a blue silk button up top with royal blue shorts to match the top. I never wore anything this nice before I could only turn pink as I thought about who changed me. It was already 7:30 so I had to get ready to go, I was apparently going to some company Sire told me about earlier to explore around, so I took a quick shower and put on a white button up top tucked in with a beige color pants and Carmel colored heels. I tied my hair in a messy bun and put my reading glasses in my pocket before heading downstairs.

-KITCHEN-

The food on the table almost made me drool but a even better eye sight to catch was Sire in a black suit which almost made blood come out my nose I was a statue just staring at my husband before he raised his head up "enjoying the view my love?" I just blushed not knowing what to say, stunned as he patted the seat next to him with his hands, gesturing me to sit next to him.

"You look cute in that you know, I can't have anyone falling in love with you other than me so, we will be buying matching rings before leaving to my company so eat up."

Rings?! Already! I knew his purpose but deep down I wished we had a actual wedding.

"Sorry darling, but we don't have a-lot of time. Ill feed you if you want."

"Im sorry..uhm is there anything I need to know about your company before I go?"

"Hmm well, you have access to everything and can change anything, command anyone. You are the only one that can come into my office and bathroom with no permission. You can be romantic whenever you want as well, My secretary's are trained to not get off focus for any disruption. You can basically do whatever you want, but I will be making my office your office so you can come whenever, but we need a chair personally made..so your chair will be my lap as of now, you can relax overall, read books or whatever you want. You also have access to my personal computer."

"Thats a-lot thank you for your kindness"

"Since I've been so kind to my dear wife, I'm so exhausted from talking that I need kisses every now and then, Can you come kiss me darling?"

I blushed so much that my whole face might actually be red, he looked at me with longing like he wanted this for so long. I couldn't say no, as I couldn't help but start to like him. "You don't mind if I kissed you while you where reading documents" he said every now and then but I don't want to distract him from his work at all. It was a needed question that I had to know, as I expected he said he didnt mind if i did anything while he was working as long as its not a urgent matter.

after a couple of hours

The steady sound of fingers tapping against a keyboard filled the spacious office as I laid comfortably curled up on the long velvet couch near Sire's desk, reading a worn copy of Pride and Prejudice. Occasionally, I'd glance up, just to see him—his sharp jawline lit softly by the glow of the computer screen, his brows slightly furrowed, the veins in his hands showing as he held a thick stack of documents. Every now and then, he would look at me with a small smile, and my heart would skip like a stone across a lake.

Suddenly, a quiet knock interrupted the calm atmosphere, followed by one of his secretaries stepping in with a grim expression. She handed Sire a sealed folder, bowed, and left without a word. The moment he opened it, I could feel a shift in the air—his eyes narrowed, his shoulders tensed.

"We're going out," he said without looking at me, his voice a smooth command wrapped in something darker.

"Is something wrong?" I asked gently, closing my book.

"Nothing I can't handle. But you'll stay close to me, alright?"

I nodded, unsure but trusting. He took my hand and led me out. Within the hour, we arrived at a place that screamed elegance and danger—the chandeliers overhead sparkled like stars caught in a storm, while men and women of unnerving presence sat at shadowed tables, sipping from crystal glasses. It didn't take long for me to realize these weren't ordinary people. They were creatures—beasts with beauty, charm, and enough power to ruin cities.

Bears in human skin sat shoulder to shoulder with sly-eyed foxes in silk suits, and serpentine figures lounged lazily, their eyes glittering like polished emeralds. But none of them dared challenge Sire's presence. He was at the top of this dangerous thing they have going on.

"Explore, but don't stray far," Sire whispered, brushing my hand with his lips before moving to a curtained booth in the back where his associates waited.

I wandered, fascinated and wary, letting my curiosity lead me. That's when I saw him.

A man—tall, lithe, dressed in long robes darker than shadows themselves. His hair was silver like starlight, but his eyes… his eyes burned red beneath long lashes. There was something ancient and unreadable about him, and I could feel his power. Cold and vast like an ocean during a storm.

"You're… not human," he said, his voice a melody laced with something dangerous.

"I-I don't really know what I am," I admitted, my voice soft. "My past… is kind of blurry."

He tilted his head, studying me like a scholar with a forbidden book.

"You're sealed. Hidden. Fascinating."

That's when I felt a shift—a heavy, powerful energy filled the room like smoke. Sire appeared at my side, hand in his pocket, but I could see the clenched jaw and the storm behind his eyes.

"She's not available for your curiosity, Trajan," he said, voice low and dark like thunder before a downpour.

Trajan smiled thinly. "Protective, aren't we? You forget I can smell potential. She's unlike any creature I've met."

"And you forget," Sire said, his eyes glowing faintly, "I don't like when people sniff around what's mine."

The tension was suffocating. Trajan's lips curled in a mock bow. "For now," he murmured before stepping away, melting back into the shadows.

Before I could speak, Sire placed a hand on my lower back and, in a blink, teleported us both to a private room at the back of the restaurant. I landed softly on his lap, too stunned to move as I realized there were others in the room—dangerous eyes turned toward me, their curiosity and resentment like knives against my skin.

I instinctively hid against his chest, overwhelmed.

Sire wrapped his arms around me protectively. "She stays. You will all respect her."

He didn't shout. He didn't need to. The room went silent.

As the conversation about territories, alliances, and threats resumed, I remained in Sire's lap, his fingers lightly stroking my back, silently reminding me I was safe.

I didn't understand this strange new world fully yet. But I understood one thing: I belonged to Sire—and somehow, that felt… right.

When everything was said and done, Sire took my hand and led me back to the car, his other arm protectively around my waist as we made our way back to the castle.

Trajan's POV

She was like a locked tome—magic dripping from her pores, yet her essence hidden behind layers I couldn't read. What was she? No ordinary girl. Not with that kind of concealed power. She didn't even know her own origin, which made it all the more compelling.

I sat in the dark of my study, ancient texts and scrolls scattered across the floor, glowing screens flickering with hacked records and stolen data feeds.

Nothing.

Every name, every identity she might've used—wiped like she was a princess.

Whoever she was, she was meant to stay hidden in the system

But I never give up a mystery once I smell power.

She will be found.

And when she is… I'll know why she's being protected by the most dangerous hybrid alive.
