The sun shines over the city as people bustle about their daily lives, the news discuss the up rise of underground crime activities, a young man walks along the side walks with his bag strapped around his back and both hands in his pockets. He walked and entered a school ground paying zero attention to his surrounding, as he walked along the school's hallway he turned on his heal and as he was about to bend the corner he bumped into a with the impact her locket revealed itself from her shirt. She got up and immediately started apologizing, the young man she crashed into simply waved his hand dismissively and told her there was no need to apologize. She understood but apologized once again before leaving, as the young man walked away he pushed something in his pocket with a sly but innocent looking smile and continued walking. After hours school eventually ended and the young man then threw his bag around his back and walked off school grounds. He lived in an apartment building just like everyone else except like other families he lived alone in Horgan City, he returned home to a slightly lit room. He snapped his fingers turning on the lights before placing his bag on one of the sofa's. He flopped down next to his bag and took the object from his pocket, upon opening it he found the brightest of smiles he had ever seen of a woman and a young girl. They genuinely looked happy to him, he could feel the warmth of their smiles radiating, he then closed it and placed it on the table in front of him.
The next day arose as he was woken by his alarm and repeated it daily routine, he ate breakfast, took a bath, got dress and left for school. He walked with his bag strapped around his back with both hands in his pocket and waited at the bus stop, all the seats in the bus were already taken and so he stood on the gravity holders. Gravity holders had a shoe print shape that luminated light and anyone who stepped on them would stand firmly on them as the bus hovered throughout the city letting off and picking up passengers. He didn't mind standing on the gravity holders as he liked it, as he came close to his stop he pressed a small buzzer making notice of his destination, when the bus stopped he clicked a small button deactivating the gravity holder he was on. The gravity holder's light would go off as he stepped off exiting the bus. He walked at regular pace as if he had nothing to do and nowhere to be. As he stepped onto school grounds the bell rang signaling everyone to get to class, he passed groups of friends mingling and talking about games, schoolwork or other things that teenagers talked about, but for him school was nothing, just a place he attended to keep a low profile and so most people would stay off his back, he wasn't stupid or had bad grades or did he lack friends, he just had no interest in school or having friends, he was about average in both academic and looks but he just kept a low profile and made sure he was never on anyone's mind, he just attended school to return home.
He walked through the hallways heading to his first class which was English, time passed and his class was finished, hours then flew by and it was now lunchtime. Horgan High is an amazing school with fresh and green surroundings and had a good reputation, it wasn't the best but it had its fair share of fame and had a lot of talented pass students. He bought his lunch, walked on the lawn and sat under a tree to have his lunch. Lunch break then came to an end and the students got ready for their next class. He drank the last drop of his orange juice before throwing it into the garbage bin and walked across the lawn for his next class. Walking along the hallway he noticed the girl he had a run in with the other day, to other she seemed ok but he knew that she wasn't as he was an observative person. He walked pass her and then he took a quick look at her face before sharply turning and started talking all surprised.
"You're the girl that ran into me the other day", he stated with a surprised expression as he pointed at her. She looked up at the person who was speaking to her before answering.
"Yes I am, sorry about that", she tried to sound normal, but he was already aware of what might have caused her to have a slight gloomy look, but he just played along as if he was clueless.
"No worries I spent the entire day looking around school trying to find you yesterday", he said as he lied, but since he was hardly known and had great control over expressions no one would be able to detect he was lying.
"Why, what happened?" she questioned with puzzlement.
"Oh right, I got this for you", he said as he placed his hand into his pocket and pulled out a bronze looking object. Her eyes widen as she saw her locket in the boy's hand.
"My locket, where did you find it?" she spoke in a voice that was both surprised and joyful as she took the locket that was being stretched out towards her. He went on and explained how he found it on the ground after they had an encounterment the other day and he took it up and assumed it was hers, but in truth when he saw the locket hanging from around her neck, he had plans for it and so he sneakingly took it in a manner of seconds. She happily thanked him and gave him a hug before retreating and apologized. He told her that there was no need to say sorry and wished she would stop talking and continue her journey, she went on and introduced herself as Chrissy Silva and he told her to call him Lenard, he cut their conversation short telling her he had to get to class and smile with a little wave before walking off. Lenard kept the smile for a few extra seconds before dropping it and straightened his face, Chrissy walked behind Lenard but he just thought she was heading in the same direction. He walked up to his classroom's door that automatically open, upon opening he wished it hadn't.
"Ohrin Hanzy and Chrissy Silva you're both three minutes late" a man spoke upon seeing them.
"I thought your name was Lenard" she said turning to him.
He slightly smiled at her and then walked over to one of the empty desk, he knew he messed up, normally he would allow someone to talk about themselves or their plans first and then he would know what lie to tell or what story to come up with and no one would ever suspect he lied, but now he didn't understand what caused his carelessness and now he was sure that after class Chrissy would question him. Since they had classes together he knew wouldn't be able to dodge her easily. Class came to an end, instead of him gathering his things in haste to rush out he simply picked up his belongings slowly making it seem like he was thinking about something and waited for her to approach. Watching her from the corner of his eye and listening to the sounds around him and as he expected she hurriedly packed her things and walked over to him, he held his head low and waited for her to speak. Chrissy came up to him and as she spoke Ohrin yanked to the side and looked at her as if he didn't see her coming over.
"Hey Lenard, I mean Ohrin". Ohrin looked at her and gave a surprised look as if he was startled by her sudden words.
"Sorry about that, giving someone my name always made me nervous so sometimes I unintentionally give the wrong name", he explained as he scratched behind his head giving a nervous appearance .
"Oh no worries", Chrissy replied with a giggle and didn't think much of his response. Ohrin stood there and prayed with every bone in his body that she would stop talking and get going, but he was unfortunate as she asked what his next class was extending the conversation. The day continued soon reaching an end and now Ohrin had the perfect time to avoid her. He left school and went straight home, when he reached home he took a silver watch from his pocket and rubbed his thump over the surface before changing his clothes to a black hoodie and pants, he didn't want to look suspicious so he didn't put on much clothes as if he was trying to hide. Ohrin left home and after a fifteen minute detour he went to the outskirts of the city and along a secret staircase leading down, before reaching the bottom he wore a mask. He continued walking and soon came across a man sitting behind a table, Ohrin walked over to the man and handed him the silver watch, he looked at the watch closely before smiling.
"You always deliver Nick". The man who is now called Nick smiled through his mask.
"Just making a living", Nick said as he collected his money and walked away.
The next day began and somehow he crossed paths with Chrissy when he was heading to his class, the person who now noticed him and the only person he wished didn't as he only wanted to ignore her. But now having a few classes with her avoiding her was not an option. She walked up to him and he instantly brought on his fake smile. Chrissy then took a gift from her bag and handed it to Ohrin.
"What's this?" he asked looking at whatever was wrapped in her hand.
"It's a gift for finding my locket the other day, it means a lot to me and so I'm grateful", Ohrin was taken a back and he was genuinely surprised.
"It's for me?", he questioned in a low voice.
"Yes. Now take it", Chrissy said pushing the gift to him. Ohrin took it from her hands hesitantly and looked at it for a moment.
"Thank you", he said softly. Suddenly for some reason he could now see how beautiful she was. She had blue eyes, a round face with a dimple on one side, light blonde hair and the softest smile.
"No big deal, now let's get to class" Chrissy said happily and thus started their friendship and from a friendship a relation slowly sprouted.
Days passed and they had gotten closer and over months they started dating. What started as strangers, soon turned into friends having outings and then to two people dating. She trusts him with all her heart and Ohrin felt warmth from her, like he belonged with her. They went on little adventures of their own, creating dreams and memories that would last forever. Chrissy knew that her father wouldn't allow her decisions, but that didn't stop her and so they secretly continued dating, but the end drew close. Chrissy's father soon suspected that something was happening with his daughter, she would return home later than usual, was sneaking around and smiling as if it was some sort of uncontrollable disease, so he investigated. They were on a high building admiring the view when Chrissy's dad appeared and disturbed them. Chrissy tried to tell him to go away and that it was her choice to love, be with or marry whoever she wanted, but he didn't listen, ignoring her words.
"That boy who you say you love isn't who you think he is" her father said sternly trying to talk sense into his daughter.
"Isn't that right Ohrin or should I say Leo Parkin" Chrissy's father said with a stern voice. Chrissy turned to the man who is said to be Leo, but then she turned to her father and told him that he was lying. He held his daughters shoulders and looked at Ohrin.
"Tell her the truth, if you love her she should know the full truth of who you really are. Why would you be selfish and lie? Do you want to destroy her future?". Ohrin was hesitant but then he spoke.
"He's right my name is Leo Parkin" he said as he tried averting his gaze. Chrissy was taken aback and was in denial. Ohrin knew he had to tell her the truth someday, but being with her made him forget those unclean path. He planned on tell her the entire truth someday, all he needed was the right time.
"It's ok…. it's only a name" she muttered with her voice slowly breaking.
"Chrissy no-", but before he could say anything else he was cut off.
"He's not the man you think he is, he's a murderer" Chrissy's father James continued as he squeezed both her shoulders and upon hearing the word murderer her eyes widen. She pushed her father's hand a way as she didn't want to believe him even though she could feel that it was indeed true. She looked at Ohrin and in hopes he would deny it but he only confirmed that it was true.
"I am indeed a murderer" Ohrin confirmed in a low plain tone.
"Your father was a pick pocket and did other illegal acts and your mother was a club dancer who scammed her customers, both your parent argued a lot. Your father left and never returned and your mother was killed, not only that you work with those underground criminals and go by many names Nick, Jr, Stone and the list goes on". Ohrin only answered yes confirming the information, tears slowly welled up in Chrissy's eyes as she clutched her stomach, this was the first time she made a choice on her own without her father's acknowledgement and it only brought tears to her eyes. The only man she had ever loved had a lot of dark secrets and she slowly wondered if he ever loved her, she slowly took a step forward and a tear raced down her face, her father slowly moving towards him and explained how he stole her watch and sold it, the watch had a tracker and that's how he knew. Chrissy was broken and that was her father's plan, he wanted to break her so much that regaining control of her would be easy. Her future was already planned as she was to be married to someone, she was going through with the idea as he had control over her life, but after she met Ohrin she started standing up for herself and her father didn't like that as he needed his daughter to marry one of his business partner's son to close a deal. Chrissy thought maybe if she just followed her father's rules she wouldn't be feeling the pain she was in, but breaking those rules gave her freedom but at the same time it gave a scar, her father slowly took her away as she was deep in despair thinking about everything she just learned. Ohrin on the other hand was taken away where he would meet prison to pay for his crimes, now Chrissy was back to her old dictating life.
"I should've expected this" Ohrin thought to himself but he didn't understand why he was so careless when it included Chrissy, he couldn't keep up the facade, he was like someone else when he was with her, a part of him he didn't quite understand, maybe it's what they call being yourself, but that only brought him to this and he was now more confused than before.
Months swept by and she graduated now about to be married. Chrissy married Ethan Gray who was five years older than her, their marriage was just a business deal and a loveless relationship. Deep down Chrissy missed Ohrin, there wasn't a day that he didn't cross her mind and hoped that one day she would see him again. When Ohrin was being taken away he somehow managed to escape and was nowhere to be found. He wanted to retreat to Chrissy but thought it was best not to, as he had hurt her too deeply and thinking she might hate him. He didn't want to make her life harder and he was such a tainted person and might hurt her even more, he loved her but couldn't push himself to see her. As time passed Chrissy couldn't hide it anymore as her stomach grew and it was clear she was pregnant and refused to abort the child, this angered her father and the man who was her husband was against it, but Chrissy threatened that if she loosed the child she would kill herself. Once she even held a knife to her throat pressing it against her skin until she started to bleed and they noticed that she was very serious and would take drastic measures. Her husband's anger turned to jealousy and hatred toward the child and even more so for the father of the child. Her stomach got bigger each day and Chrissy would gently rub her stomach speaking to her unborn baby, telling him or her about their father and all the memories they created and how much she missed and loved him.
Chrissy soon then gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, but before she could hold her baby like every mother would she was given news that the baby was stillborn. She already knew that wasn't the truth and cried until she passed out. The next day she felt a calling and managed to escape from the house and went to the building where she last saw the man she missed dearly. She felt drawn as if he was there, but when she reached disappointment met her as no one was there. Chrissy walked closer to the edge of the building looking down. She lost everything and was now confused, her pain was overflowing and she didn't know what to do, she couldn't think of a way to end her suffering. The only person she opened up to was now gone and so she had no one. She didn't remember jumping but she remembered the calmness and relievement of falling from the air and then all was gone, as everything was now black.
Everyone who was below screamed as blood splattered on them from the woman who fell from the sky and the news immediately reached the fathers ears. Ohrin who was about to go to the roof as he felt a longing, a calling to climb to the roof of the building, but before he could climb up the building he was stopped in his tracks when a shadow enlarged from above before something landed heavily in front of him. He slowly looked down seeing what laid in front of him, his eyes widen as his heart heavily but slowly pounded in his chest. He looked at the person who was covered in blood. Ohrin dropped to his knees and held Chrissy's body as he cried and shouted her name, she then slightly open her eyes, but it wasn't visible to Ohrin.
"Ohrin" she whispered in a low and breaking voice. He somehow heard her and shouted for someone to call the ambulance, but she would be dead by the time they reached as she felt her body drifting.
"Just hold on Chrissy" his voice quivering still holding onto her, he didn't know how to move her because her bones were broken all over.
"Ohrin, I had a baby and I wanted to name her Jasmine Parkin", she breathed slowly as it might be her last. That was something she thought he should know before she died. She felt overjoyed that she could see his face again. Maybe the reason she felt drawn to the roof wasn't because she was to jump, but because her dear Ohrin was coming. She was too hasty she thought and should have waited, she was now full with regret, but even so she felt somewhat calm. Tears streamed down her face as there was so much she wanted to say. She wished she tried to find him back then, or tried running away with him. There was so much but no time, but one thing for sure she didn't regret a single second with him. She accepted every lie, every mistake, all the fake names, the tainted pass, everything.
"Ohrin I still and always love-", but before she could finish speaking her time came and those were her last words, Ohrin could feel that her body had gotten heavier and he could tell she was gone and he only knelt there hugging her. James then came to the scene and Chrissy's husband was in toe behind, when he saw Ohrin he order his men to take him away and Ohrin just obeyed once again without a struggle. Ethan and James went to Chrissy's side, maybe Ethan actually loved her, but he didn't feel it or maybe he didn't understand. All he knew he could feel was the jealousy and angered by Ohrin and the thought of Chrissy wanting to carry his child, but even so his love was perhaps only sprouted and was stem by jealousy Ethan thought as he felt the pain clawing at him seeing Chrissy's lifeless body. As always when it included Chrissy he was careless and now he was caught again, but he didn't care. Ohrin felt even greater sadness as he didn't hear her last words, he wondered if she was trying to say I love you. As far as he could remember life has always been unfair to him, he had parent but no family, they worked but it was different from everybody else's work, and that's when he realized at a young age that his parents didn't even want him and so he masked himself from the world. He only wanted happiness but when he got it, it wasn't an ever after.
"I love you Chrissy and I'm sorry" Ohrin whispered to himself as if it was a sort prayer as he gazed over her lifeless body hoping that her ghost might hear.
