Chapter 77 - Fight Conclusion

All of the canine instincts and senses that had been honed over the years came in very useful for Butch as he kept up his attack without giving Joe any room to recover.

One powerful kick connected causing the movements of Joe to become a little slower as he responded a little less effectively from his present position and condition.

Each of the hits he had taken so far had seemed to be quite effective and had caused him to be disrupted a lot.

Even his attempts to try to use more unpredictable attack patterns and timing had been unsuccessful.

Each time that he missed one attack and was preparing the next had left him open for attack which resulted in a large opening showing itself.

An attack missed Butch as he narrowly avoided it then sent out another strike before moving out of the way of another.

The process kept repeating even when the timing changed slightly.

Butch made full use of every opening to land enough hits to cause damage to Joe who was unable to put up a proper fight.

Joe's struggles weakened with each attack until one final kick sent him down toward the ground making him lie there without moving.

He was knocked out by how he looked but Butch did not waste any time as he moved in to restrain Joe's arms while following up by putting a bag over his head.

He wiped away the sweat from his face while looking over Joe with caution in his eyes. "How tricky. If I gave him a single opportunity then it would have been over for me."

He looked down toward his body and noticed a couple of light cuts that he gained from the exchange but it was not too deep that he had to worry about it.

Butch was more concerned about his ally who was left bleeding out but he could not afford to leave someone like Joe alone without anyone to watch over him.

If there was no Quirk suppressor or canceller that could be used then all it took was for someone like Joe to escape was just having enough energy to use their Quirk once again.

It was still unknown if he was truly unconscious or not so Butch was extra cautious when restraining him.

If there was one thing he learned over the years in the criminal underworld then it was to never let his guard down unless his opponent was confirmed to be dead.

The people in the criminal underworld were tenacious and did not mind using underhanded means to defeat their enemies, unlike those who worked as heroes and had limitations on how they acted and used their Quirks when performing their duties.

They did not have anything against playing dead or defeated while waiting for a single moment to land one fatal strike.

It was possible that he was knocked out since he had endured a lot of strikes already but it was always a possibility that it was all an act too.

Joe may have been awake and waiting for a moment to strike but his opponent did not show a sign of weakness resulting in him keeping up his act.

The present situation was one where he was either waiting for Butch to stop paying attention to him or he would wake up to find the present situation he was in.

If Butch no longer was close by and had his attention elsewhere then that would provide him time to try to escape from the current bindings that were holding him and to try to muster the energy needed to escape.

Butch gritted his teeth in annoyance before shouting out. "Hey guys! Hurry up and get over here! You should have already heard the noises coming from here so get moving! We have one down and wounded! HURRY!"

Others from his subordinates soon arrived to find the current scene that had played out already without them being able to offer any form of assistance. "Woah boss. You took him down alone."

"You found him fast."

"Ah... Jim got injured. So much blood..."

"Someone hurry and tend to his wound!"

"I will do it."

One person came over to the person who was lying in a pool of blood before pressing the wound together putting their finger against it.

Soon a burning sting came from the wound in the places that were affected which caused Jim to pass out from the pain.

The quirk that the person used to treat the wound was named scorch.

It was a type of Quirk that was not considered as a fire or heat energy manipulation type but instead was the type to make it possible to heat body parts to be able to raise it to a certain level that a touch from them could cause burning and inflammation.

Although it was not the type of fire Quirk that could be applied at a longer range, it could still be applied and made use of in a wide variety of ways.

One method of use was how it had already been used to treat the person who was heavily injured.

He had no choice but to cauterize the wounds and close them up the best that he could use the contact he made with the wound.

The pain inflicted was very high which caused the patient to be knocked out but there was no other way around it.

Most groups were severely lacking when it came to those with healer Quirks so they had to be inventive with their methods of patching up themselves and their allies.

Even such an attempt to prevent the death of their ally could result in speeding up the process or could only be a temporary measure to buy a little time.

Real treatment was needed above all else so they hurried to carry Jim out leaving behind his pool of blood that was still fresh where he was lying previously.

The same happened with the remainder of the people who gathered around near Butch and Joe.

Butch turned to one of them who was gathered before pointing to the body of Joe. "Hurry and do it."

Among those who remained was a thin and pale man who did not look very strong.

His veins showed underneath his pale skin while the blood flowing through them looked unnatural with a slightly purple color and his nails were quite sharp.

Upon hearing the order of Butch, he hesitantly stepped forward before bending over to place his hand near the skin on the body of Joe.

The sharp nail on his finger pierced into the skin of Joe which resulted in a change taking place as if something was spreading through the body of Joe that was similar to how it would appear when someone was poisoned.

It spread rapidly causing him to pale while he remained lying where he was before he was picked up by Butch.

Butch passed by the person who had just followed his order while patting him on the shoulder. "Good job. Your Quirk is always very useful during times like this."

The pale and thin man looked a little motivated by those words and spoke in a quiet and hoarse voice. "Thanks, boss."
