Chapter 26 - Chapter 27

"Look lively people. We will be getting a few recruits soon. I expect you to be on your best behavior." Samara had yelled at them. "Is that going to be a problem."

"No ma'am." They all had answered her.

"I understand that many of you are angry that they are joining you late." She had yelled at them. "But understand that these are special circumstances. It is the reason I was assigned to you as well."

"So, I expect to be on your best behavior now and afterwards as well. One of our potential recruit is a little bit different from the norm. So let me be clear no hanky panky in the barracks. Is that understood."

"Yes ma'am."

"Good. Give them as much of a Hunter's welcome as you can. We can't forget our tradition can we." She had called out to them.

"No ma'am." A laugh had rung out from among the asari trainees in front of her.

"Good, but don't scare him off before that. Now go see your new recruits."

(The Citadel)

The Asari had finally gone public with what they had found out in the citadel. The concept about the reapers had been deemed a little bit too dangerous for the normal populace to find out about. So they had obscured it on purpose.

It would cause a mass panic if people came to find out that there were a series of sentient machines that were periodically harvesting all life within the galaxy after allowing it to mature for some time. That was simply not permissible for them. There was also a danger that this fact could be them simply called false and too outlandish to be true. So they had obscured the truth about the reapers. And said that it was another civilization who had wiped them out. And that there was a real danger that this civilization was still alive.

Data caches had been made available on the citadel as well showing the Protheans being drained into a slurry until there was nothing left. All of these facts had horrified people as they had watched them. The giant battles where reapers ship laid devastation to the Prothean fleet.

And even older civolizations were found who had gone through the same devastation as well. The videos of Protheans being turned into zombies. Entire worlds changed like that. The Prothean leaving those worlds in order to buy themselves a little bit more time.

Sometimes, even having to destroy their own world.

All the residents that fell within the council space were in panic as they did not know what to do. It was expected that defense spending by all the species would be increased. New search teams were launched to look into the Inusannon ruins that had been discovered. All in order to salvage any technology from them and also make it a archeological digsite.

That was not the only thing that had changed. The Asari were building up their fleet. Their mega ship the destiny ascension had also been recalled in order to be refitted and modernized. Analysts had looked through it and found out that it was severely outdated by all standards. Its sheilds and armor were being updated. It was also being given a docking area to enable repair of other cruisers and battleships. The caliber of its cannons were being upgraded. In a rare instance, the peace and war faction within the Asari government were completely silent.

When inquired about, a representative of the peace side had stated that. "We face an enemy that had already ended the galaxy two times. We were against the Turians when they had launched an invasion against the human. We were against the war with krogans as we believed that an easier solution could be reached instead of their complete culling. But in this case, we need to prepare to fight for our survival."

People had calmed down as the Asari had used their vast resources to set things in motion. Visible efforts were being made. Enlistment was at an all time high. Militaries were being build up and borders were being even more enforced. The Volus had also launched their own first ship and more were to follow. The Hanar who were normally a kind and benevolent species had called for a crusade against the aliens who were responsible for the destruction of the Enkindlers. Those that had uplifted them and had elevated them as a species. They were exploring war options, and making fleets. Warships filled with water instead of air. The first prototype was already being made.

Elcor had also begun to advance their own warships and also making their own battle suits. Hulking monstrosities with as much armor and shields that could be crammed on top of them. They had giant cannons affixed to their back and miniguns on their side. It would make them a force to be reckoned with. Their ships were also hulking monstrosities and they had started updating them as well. Slow with armor crammed upon armor. Their guns being increased in size to make them a danger to anything.

And then, to keep everyone calm. They had released the final news to the public. The existence of the last remnant of the the Prothean Empire. A story told from his perspective about how he had been rescued by the Protheans, the final survivor of his own people. How he would have become one of the greatest creator of recreational goods within their empire. But alas, it was not meant to be. The time for their extinction had come and so he had joined the battle. They were still pushed back. And in the end as he was the youngest among them, so they had put him to sleep in a cyrochamber. His title as the paragon of hope was revealed. A title gifted to him at the final moments of their empire.

The Salarian had wanted him for his technological knowledge, the Turians for the tactics used by the enemies. The humans wanted his help in decoding the data discs left by the Protheans. The Volus wanted information regarding the banking system operated during the era of the Protheans. The Elcor wanted stories that were handed down by their ancestors. And the reaction of the Hanar was one of the most violent possible. They had proclaimed him as one of the last prothean and demanded that the Asari hand him over.

All the races had demanded his presence and a hope to see him as well. Such a fact was called classified and everyone was assured that it would happen soon. But it was not possible for now.

As a Way to calm everyone down. The Books written by Danny had been publicized by an Asari publishing company. Almost all physical books were sold out and their was a very big black market for them. The digital edition had more then once caused the server to crash. The book had acted as a very good distraction for the people of the citadel.

They had expected to see Protheans within the book instead they saw humans. Almost everyone was captivated by the story. The fight between Light and L. The exploration of the concept of morals and justice. It had captivated almost everyone without fail.

But the Asari's were approached by the humans regarding the reason for humans being used. The Asari had admitted to them that Danny's race looked identical to humans atleast in the physical aspect. That had caused another round of attention. With the attention of the humans now peeked and requests to see him as well. The Asari had given the entire citadel a time period of one month after which Danny is expected to visit the citadel.

Their were already talks of making a live adaptation of the series. The Elcor had already started to make a few series of plays regarding that. Death Note had become one of the greatest selling books in the entirety of the citadel and a cultural phenomena.

(The citadel council)

A meeting had been called by the council.

This meeting was unique because this was called by Tevos. The first private meeting that she was attending with them. And so Tevos was waiting for them within the private chamber, she had already prepared a bunch of data pads for them for a list of available information. Information that she herself was aware of.

Soon, she saw both Valern and Spartacus entered and settled down. It was time to begin their private conversation.
