Chapter 6 - The Real Story (Rewrite)

Sorry this one is a bit late, I had a test in one of my classes and then I had to do a presentation so I was a little busy, anyway this chapter is a big lore dump with some leaps in logic I had to make since we barely know anything about what happened back in those ancient times.

(Back to Ash's POV)

Opening the book, it was clear it had been written a long time ago and had once belonged to Sir Aaron. Some parts of the text were unreadable, but there was enough intact to make out the meaning of most passages. Turning to the first page, Ash began to read:

__________________________________

If you are reading this then I fear the worst has happened, I can only hope that I succeeded in my mission to save the Tree of Beginnings. If this is truly my end then I must tell you the true story of the Aura guardians.

I am Sir Aaron, a knight of Cameran Palace. I am also an Aura Guardian—though most call me the leader of the Aura Guardians, as my skill and power earned me the title of the True Guardian of Aura. But that does not matter. Aura is an energy all living beings possess, and those with the potential can learn to manipulate it.

On the page, there was a picture of Cameran Palace and Sir Aaron

The Aura Guardians are a group of talented individuals who possessed the ability to manipulate Aura. The purpose of our order was to help those in need. Many stories were written about our adventures. However, if you are reading this, I can only assume those stories have been lost or destroyed. I will explain more as we go.

On the next page, there appeared to be a rough sketch of the Aura Guardians.

If the world remains the paradise it once was, then perhaps I succeeded. But if you are reading this, it also means the Aura Guardians are gone. I assume all traces of our order have been wiped from history, and what remains has been reduced to children's tales and fairy stories. But I assure you, the Aura Guardians were real, and we saved real lives.

But to best tell you the story I must start where it began, Many years before I was born, people found two Pokemon that called themselves Mew and Celebi, and they bestowed some humans with the gift to manipulate energy; some were gifted with the abilities to control Psychic energy, others were gifted the abilities to create Hexes and curses, and others were gifted the ability to manipulate Aura.

On the next page, there looks to be a sketch of Mew and Celebi bestowing energy onto humans.

The original users of Aura were seen as inferior to the previous two as they could not control or create any energy of their own. However, it was not until my time that the true powers of Aura were found. You see as aura guardians we cannot generate or control Aura, our bodies work as a catalyst for Aura to move through. You should never try to control the flow of aura or there may be grave consequences, you must let it flow through you as if it was water. Aura is everywhere everything has and produces aura, if you force aura to move faster you risk overloading your body or potentially facing corruption.

When I was born and found to have talent in Aura I was seen as trash, and my family discarded me, and I was sent to train to become a knight. But I would not give in that easily, I trained by day and studied my powers of Aura by night, eventually I learned that I could sense others' Aura, and after many years of hard work and training I was able to Master Aura, now by no means was I the first Aura Guardian, but I am referred to the greatest for a reason. When the Aura guardians found me they were impressed by how far I was able to take Aura without corrupting myself. They recruited me and I accepted, they taught me what little they know and I taught them my techniques. Over time we would go helping others and recruiting others with the potential to build up the order. We even began to work with the Psychic and Hex Maniacs.

Many years went by and there was an incident that was the beginning of the end for the Aura guardians, there was an incident. A large amount of evil and negative emotion was released onto the world, when emotion is very powerful it becomes its own spirit, now usually There was a place that held the evil spirits, but we never thought to look into why they were released. The three factions teamed up to try and stop the evil spirits from driving the world into chaos, thanks to the Hex Maniacs we were able to create keystones to hold the spirits, however, they each could only hold 108, I never understood why. But after many battles, we were able to stop the spirits, but in our rush to stop all spirits, we created a new Pokemon that called itself Spiritomb.

The page has a rough sketch of a keystone and Spiritomb.

However, this victory and celebration were short-lived, as none of us knew what was going to happen so very soon.

About this time I had decided to retire from the life of adventuring and decided to go back to my home and return to being a knight of Cameran Palace, I even took in a small Pokemon called Riolu that later evolved into a Lucario, it seemed to have potential rivaling mine in Aura, so I took it in as my student. With my accomplishments known throughout the world, I quickly rose through the ranks and became one of the royal Knights. Life was good, until that day.

Until two Pokemon decided to cause chaos in the world, they were Pokemon that seemed to be made of darkness, they came to this world to try and destroy it and remake it into their image, little did we know they were the reason for the spirits escaping and causing mischief. And little did we know what we were in for.

As Ash turned to the next page, he noticed something strange, the page had been ripped out. But he could still see the faint outline of where a picture used to be. Curiosity piqued, he glanced over at Theo and asked, "Why is there a page ripped out?" He held the book up for Theo to see.

Theo looked puzzled. "Oh, you're right. I don't know why. I'd have to ask Professor Oak, or maybe one of his colleagues from Sinnoh, he actually got that book from Professor Rowan."

"Okay, well, it doesn't matter anyway. I can still look at the pictures," Ash said cheerfully, before running back to his table.

Ash sat down and continued reading.

These beasts seemed to have the ability to corrupt creatures and humans. However we as Aura guardians were able to resist the corruption from the monsters, however, our comrades the Psychic and Hex Maniacs were not so lucky. They fell to the monster's control and turned against us, which was the start of the great war, the war that ended everything.

We didn't want to kill our comrades, so we found a way to send our Aura into them to purify their bodies, however even with the added support we were outnumbered and outclassed. After the war we were victorious, but we had many fallen comrades, I can only hope that if any survived they ran away into safety. However, this war was never those monsters' goal.

Their true goal was the Tree of Beginning. The tree had two main purposes, the first was that it was the source of all Aura in existence. Without the tree, all living beings would be destroyed, and the monsters would be able to be released into the world, but the second reason was that the Tree of Beginning was the home of Mew.

The next page was a rough sketch of the Tree of Beginning and Mew

So I must go and attempt to save the tree. I am entrusting this book to my comrade Lucario and going to the tree alone. If you are reading this I hope I have succeeded but I probably have died. I know not how long it may have been since this incident but I only hope the world is still in safe hands.

Turning the page he noticed it was blank but Ash could somehow still see something.

And if you are reading this, you must have some potential in Aura. I have written this in ink made from a special flower that only grows near the tree at the beginning, they each have a high amount of natural Aura.

I ask you to not reveal this information to others, they need to find out on their own. I have put my techniques in this book. You just need to pour your aura and you will receive my knowledge in Aura. I understand you may be inexperienced so this will be my first lesson for you.

Don't try and push your Aura into this book, let it flow, and think of it as an extension of yourself like another arm, not a weapon, but you must be careful if you let yourself fail you face corruption, you must be caring, and empathetic to all things.

I hope whatever you learn helps you with your goal, however, remember you must have some restraint while learning and you must master basic aura first, otherwise, you will become corrupted. I wish you the best of luck my successor, I hope you may live with no regrets.

As Ash finished reading, he closed his eyes and began to focus. He could feel the energy all around him, like he was submerged in water. So, he let his body act as a conduit, gently channeling that energy into the book. And as he did, a wave of knowledge surged through him, insights on how to train Aura. He could feel memories, echoes, pouring into him from the ink of the Time Flower etched into the pages.

When it ended, the knowledge settled in his mind. It was his now, stored like a memory. He stood up and walked over to Theo. "I finished looking at the book. I didn't understand anything, but the pictures looked cool," he said, playing the part perfectly as he handed the book back.

"No problem. I'll bring up the missing page to Professor Oak," Theo replied. "But for now, do you still want to take the Kalos cuisine book?"

"Yes, please, Mr. Theo!" Ash said, keeping up the act.

"Well, here you go. Have a nice day," Theo said with a smile.

As Ash walked out of the library, he couldn't help but smile to himself. 'With this, I don't have to keep throwing sticks at a wall hoping something sticks. That means I don't need to stress about learning how to make barriers before I even start my adventure.'

Once he got back home, he leaned against the door, eyes bright with determination. 'Now that I know all this, the only thing I need to worry about for now… is school. Then the real fun begins.'

(Unknown POV)

In an unknown location, there is a hooded figure, not much can be noticed from their feature but they pull out an old-looking parchment, and on the paper, there is the image of two figures, one shadowy figure that has no real details, and another that seems to look like a Pokemon with a black, shadow-like body, It has a small head with a white fog-like ghostly plume billowing from its head.

The person in the hood smirks, and mumbles to themselves, "Soon, soon everything will be complete and you will be mine."
