It was often a matter of perspective for who received such a blessing or a curse, rather than whether it was actually a blessing or a curse that they received.

An example of such a thing would be obtaining the power to never die and to live an immortal life.

If such a power was granted as a blessing then perhaps many would be happy at first to receive it but once they experienced enough pain and suffering unable to die, they would start to consider it as more of a curse than a blessing.

If such a power was forced upon someone in the form of a curse then perhaps the intention behind it was to cause suffering upon a person but it was not always guaranteed that the person would work out that way and they could consider it as a blessing instead.

For those in the five great families, such great power was something that granted them much control and power but it was a great shackle too.
