Frost and Kairos floated apart from one another, waiting for the other to take the first strike. As the two waited, the giant whale was making its way down to the ground level alongside the Army of Grimm. Frost and Kairos then suddenly lung at each other and throw a punch. Their fists collide in the middle before they throw another punch that results in the same outcome. Kairos then swung his foot around and tried to kick Frost, but he blocked it. Frost then grabbed Kairos's leg and spun him around before throwing him away from him. Kairos stabilized himself before he slapped his hands together before throwing them apart, resulting in dozens of spears to spawn.
Frost looked at them all before he prepared himself. Kairos then launched the barrage of spears at Frost. Frost then created a wall of Ice in front of him and hardened the ice to tank the spears. The violet-energy spears hit the ice wall and explode. After the barrage ends, Frost breaks his Ice wall and dashed at Kairos. Kairos was surprised that the ice wall held up before he was punched in the gut by Frost. He is then launched backwards to a good distance before he stops himself midflight. Kairos sent a glare at Frost who sent one back. The two then charged each other and clashed in the middle creating a shockwave.
This time the shockwave sent both Frost and Kairos backwards. After they both stopped themselves from going too far away from their opponent, they charged each other again and the same thing happened. A shockwave erupted and launched them both back. They repeated this process a few times before Frost did something different. As they're fists got close to clashing, Frost swiftly grabbed Kairos's fist before throwing another punch with his other hand. His punch strikes Kairos in the face, and it launches him down at the ground towards Mantle. Frost gives chase.
In Mantle, Team RWBY is cutting down Grimm that come for them. Ruby cuts down two Sabyrs before shooting a third one. Yang slammed a Beowolf on the ground before stomping on its skull killing it. Blake shot a Beowolf that tried to pounce her before she switched to sword mode and cut down a Sabyr. Weiss saw this unfold and heard a growl. She turned to see a Goliath charging her. Weiss was about to attack to the best of her ability before a glowing disk of energy hit the giant Grimm and sliced it in half. She lowered her weapon before Ryder landed in front of her as the Goliath's body tuned to ash.
"Things going well down here?" Ryder said casually.
"You could say that." Weiss said.
"Took down that giant whale?" Yang asked, looking at him.
"Uh, not exactly." Ryder said before pointing to the giant whale that was landing outside of Mantle.
Team RWBY looked at it and watched as it landed outside of Mantle's city limits.
"Salem protected it with a barrier." Ryder informs.
"We're going to get overwhelmed." Yang said in frustration.
"All we need to do is draw the Grimm's attention away from the evacuations." Ryder said. "And I believe I can cause quite the distraction."
Qrow drops onto the street behind Team RWBY making the four girls turn to him. Qrow looked up and saw a Nevermore charging him. Ryder saw it too, so he quickly rockets into the sky and attacked the Nevermore. He then activates his Semblance and delivers a hard upper cut into the Nevermore's beak and shatters it. The Nevermore let out a screeching cry of pain before Ryder followed up his assault and tackled the large bird Grimm to the ground. Once on the ground, Ryder sent a hard punch into the Nevermore's skull killing it. Once the beast turned to ash, Ryder quickly teleports back to Team RWBY and Qrow.
Once he returned, they gathered around him and looked at the giant whale Grimm that now sits outside of Mantle.
"As long as that giant sits there, Mantle isn't safe." Qrow said.
Ryder puts two fingers on his earpiece.
"Clover, how are evacuations going?" Ryder asked.
"Difficult. The Grimm keep hounding us." Clover replied. "Though, Penny is a real help."
"Glad to be of assistance!" Penny chimed in over comms.
"Robyn, how are things going on your front?" Ryder asked.
"Swimmingly. Most of the shelters have been emptied, and the civilians have been taken to Atlas." Robyn reports.
"I'm sure you all are aware that the giant whale has landed outside of Mantle." Ryder points out.
"Sure are." Robyn responded.
"Affirmative." Clover replied.
"We can worry about it later. The civilians are our main focus." Ryder said.
A new voice then entered comms.
"Huntsmen reinforcements are enroute to Mantle." Ironwood said.
Then a set of Manta Airships flew overhead, and Atlas Huntsmen leaped out and began attacking the Grimm. Ryder and Team RWBY smiled seeing this.
"Thanks for that, General." Ryder said.
Qrow then senses a new presence and looked around.
"How much of the Military is being used?" Ryder asked.
"Enough. But I'm focusing them around the civilian areas." Ironwood said.
Then, Qrow sees a white rose petal land on the ground in front of him. Surprised he bent down to pick it up. Once he had it, he stood up and looked at it. Ruby and Yang saw this. It reminded them of Summer Rose.
"Good. I'll update you once we've made progress." Ryder said, before getting off comms.
He then notices what Qrow, Ruby and Yang are looking at.
"You three, okay?" Ryder asked.
"Yeah, it's just, it reminds me of my mom." Ruby said.
Then they heard a sound that sounded like Ruby's semblance. They all looked at Ruby confused, Ruby herself was even confused. A bullet then hit the ground in front of Qrow causing everyone to flinch. They then heard a weapon transforming so they turned to the sound. On top of a building was the Grimmfied Summer Rose. She held an Axe like weapon. Her Grimm features clear to see as well as her white cloak. When they see her Qrow, Ruby and Yang's eyes widen. Despite looking like a Grimm, something just told them that this was Summer.
"Summer?" Qrow asked in disbelief.
Summer leaped off the roof and landed on the street below. She stood up to her full height and looked at Ryder, Team RWBY and Qrow. She then glared at them.
"M-Mom?" Ruby asked, almost heartbroken to see her appearance.
Summer hears Ruby call her mom, a flicker of surprise comes to her eyes, but they quickly return to a glare. Qrow slowly comes out of his shock and stepped in front of everyone with his weapon in hand.
"Uncle Qrow?" Yang asked.
Qrow looked at Yang briefly before returning his gaze to Summer.
"Go. Handle the civilians. I'll take care of Summer." Qrow said.
"But-" Ruby stepped forward, but Qrow cut her off.
"Something happened to her, Salem did something to her." Qrow said, his anger appearing at just the mere thought of Salem causing harm to Summer. "I'm not sure what she did. But I'm the only one who stands a chance against her."
Ruby looked at her mom who didn't seem to recognize her at first. A tear goes down her face before she turned away from Summer.
"Ryder." Qrow said looking at him. "Keep them safe."
Ryder just nods in silence. Ryder then motioned for Team RWBY to follow him, and they do as they run down the street to put some distance between them and the impending battle. Now alone, Summer and Qrow began to circle each other like lions.
"I don't know what Salem did to you, but I'm not leaving you." Qrow said.
Summer says nothing as they circled each other. They then stop circling each other.
"I'm bringing you home this time." Qrow declared.
Qrow then assumes a battle stance. Summer just looked at him before speaking.
"Have fun with that." Summer said.
Summer then takes a battle stance with her weapon. A moment of silence passes before the two friends and teammates charge each other. They both swing their weapons and clash in the middle causing them to enter a blade lock.
