( Arata's POV )
With my power released, I ran towards the monster spiders and threw a fist, my punch impacted, and a wave of darkness was released that erased the rest of the spiders.
Arata: uh that went better than expected.
I looked at my fist, impressed with what I had done, but Sagiri looked at me with a frown, ready to bring my head back down to earth.
Sagiri: What are you doing here?
Arata: I already told you that I was going to stay on the sidelines no more, I will face those who threatened the people I care about, and you are now among those people, so I will not let you fight alone.
With my words, Sagiri blushed a little, but she quickly returned to her serious expression, it seemed that she was going to continue arguing, but more spiders appeared and took our attention.
Arata: What's up, I thought we were done with them?
Urara: [ The main enemy is hatching the other spiders, if we don't eliminate it, they will not stop appearing, now that we are here, how about we all work together? ]
Sagiri: Urara, are you behind this?
Arata: I came here of my own free will, don't blame her.
The spiders that surrounded us jumped on us, but with a punch and the resulting energy wave, I eliminated half of them and Sagiri took care of the rest, but I could hear more coming closer.
Urara: [ there's no time to talk about that we're on a mission, Arata can deal with the little spiders while Sagiri looks for the main evil spirit, what do you think of that? ]
I stared at Sagiri, and she looked back at me, we stood like that for a moment, and when she let out a sigh, I knew she had given in to the idea.
Urara: [ Excellent, now follow the spiders. ]
I ran on the ground while Sagiri moved through the trees above me, and we followed the trail of the spiders that kept appearing, I took swings and kicks at the enemies, and I was running out of breath, but if I said anything about it, Sagiri wouldn't let me help her again.
Arata: No luck finding the main enemy!
Sagiri: ...I got him!
There was nothing but small spiders around me and when I asked her how the progress was on her side Sagiri threw another volley of shurikens that hit a giant spider very well camouflaged among the trees and bushes, the thing thrashed violently in pain and then Sagiri landed heavily on the evil spirit's head to deliver the finishing blow.
After that, the rest of the spiders shrank and ended upside down, that was mission accomplished, so I leaned my back against a tree, Sagiri jumped in front of me and narrowed her eyes at me, seeing me exhausted.
Sagiri: ...you waste too much energy on each attack.
Arata: I'll remember that for next time.
Sagiri remained silent, and I thought she was going to say that there wouldn't be a next time, but she just extended her hand towards me, I was going to take it, but at that moment, something happened behind Sagiri.
The evil spirit was not so defeated, and seemed stronger than before, it was covered by a visible toxic aura, and when it stood up, it launched itself with incredible speed towards us.
Without much time to react, I pushed Sagiri out of the way, the spider hit me with all its force, and the tree behind me ended up leaning a little.
Sagiri: Arata!
Sagiri shouted my name worried but I couldn't do much, the back of my head had cracked and I was rapidly losing consciousness, I felt like the world was in slow motion and at that moment some images flashed in front of my eyes, those images were some of my old memories with Sun and in the end, I experienced a memory from an outside perspective.
Three girls were behind me, two of them I recognized as Sun and Sagiri when they were kids, and the other was a blonde girl I didn't know, I was standing with my arms outstretched protecting them, and in front of me was a big man dressed in black with his mouth covered and two katanas in hand, I had a brave expression but it wasn't difficult to deduce how things were going to turn out.
The guy in black hit me on the head with the hilt of his katanas, I fell flat on my face and started bleeding heavily, I think this was the incident that Sun's mother kept secret, I wanted to know more, but the memory stopped there.
???: sacrificing yourself for others again, don't you know that we'll be in trouble if something happens to you, I guess I'll have to lend you some of my power.
I heard the mysterious voice from my dream the other night, and before I could figure out what was going on I was yanked back into the real world, now instead of being on the verge of fainting, I felt recharged and overflowing with energy, then I used a powerful kick to push the spider back.
The spider began to release a large amount of energy and at that moment I felt something guiding my hand, the energy coming out of me concentrated in my hand and a black katana with a green blade fell into my hand, I swung the black katana and wind blades cut the spider into pieces as well as a good number of trees around me.
The wound on my head had healed but my last movement left me completely drained, my body stopped working and I began to fall forward, I was going to fall on my face but before that happened Sagiri caught me and my face rested on a pair of soft and wonderful pillows, I thought a violent reaction was coming, but she hugged my head tighter.
Sagiri: Idiot, this is what I wanted to avoid.
