A high-ranking military official struggled to their feet from the ground and asked in disarray.

Before the aide could finish, footsteps echoed from the dark depths of the passage ahead.
"Everyone be quiet! Something's not right!"
The general whispered harshly.
Everyone immediately fell silent.
Tap, tap… tap, tap…
The footsteps grew closer and closer, and the general made a gesture. The soldiers behind him raised their flintlock guns, aiming into the darkness ahead.
"I remember there should be units from the Second Legion ahead of us. Why would they be coming back? And without speaking..."
A man with the rank of major on his shoulder murmured softly.
"Shut up!"
The general hissed quietly.
The major immediately saluted and dared not speak further.
