Chapter 30 - Chapter 30 The Fight (Rewrite)

Chapter 30

The sound of gunfire echoed across the battlefield, where Antonia's maid forces desperately tried to repel the advancing enemies. However, no matter how many bullets they fired, they couldn't slow the robots down.

"Damn it! What are these things made of? We can't even scratch them!" Sarah cursed, still firing furiously at the incoming robots.

==Meanwhile, at Kanda's side==

"Why are those robots coming toward us? And are those maids... holding guns?" Arisa asked, pointing shakily at the ongoing battle, fear clear in her voice.

"Sorry about all this, Arisa," Kanda said, his eyes still fixed on the battlefield. "Those robots were sent by our enemies after a... misunderstanding. And yes, those are Antonia-chan's battle maids. They're tasked with protecting her and are using firearms to fight back."

"Who sent these robots, Kanda?" Kuune asked as she stepped up beside him.

After a brief pause, Kanda answered, "It's Madam J."

"How sure are you?" Melwin pressed.

"I'm a hundred percent sure. This has her fingerprints all over it," Kanda said firmly.

The fighting grew fiercer as the maids intensified their barrage. Explosions rang out across the field — some of the maids had switched to grenade launchers.

Meanwhile, the non-combatants, like the sci-fi club members (except for Itokazu), had already retreated into the chalet under the protection of another maid team. Antonia stubbornly insisted on staying with Kanda. In the end, he reluctantly allowed it, positioning her near him for safety.

Although the grenade blasts temporarily halted the robots, they soon resumed advancing. However, a keen eye would notice something — slight damage on their legs, something Kanda quickly picked up on.

"SARAH!!" Kanda shouted, straining to be heard over the chaos.

Thankfully, his voice reached her.

"WHAT IS IT, YOU PERVERTED BRAT?! I'M KINDA BUSY HERE!" Sarah yelled back without stopping her fire.

"Tell your team to target the ground near the robots' legs with the grenade launchers!" Kanda ordered.

"AND WHY SHOULD I LISTEN TO YOU?!" Sarah snapped, ignoring him.

"Just do it already, you damn stubborn woman!" Kanda shot back, frustrated.

"WHAT DID YOU SAY, YOU BRAT?!" Sarah screamed.

"SARAH!" Maya's voice suddenly cut through the noise as she appeared beside Kanda.

"YES, MA'AM!" Sarah immediately straightened up and saluted.

"Follow his instructions," Maya ordered.

Sarah hesitated. "But Ma'am—"

"DO IT, SARAH!" Maya barked, glaring at her.

Shuddering under the force of Maya's command, Sarah saluted again. "Everyone with grenade launchers, aim at the ground near their legs!" she ordered.

"YES, MA'AM!" the maids responded.

Grenades flew through the air, and the battlefield erupted in explosions. Thick smoke blanketed the area.

When the smoke cleared, most of the robots lay immobilized, their lower halves completely destroyed.

"THEY'RE DOWN! FINISH THEM OFF!!" Sarah ordered.

The maids moved quickly, taking down the remaining active robots with ruthless efficiency.

==Back to Kanda's side==

"Maya, could you have one of your maids bring me one of those robots?" Kanda asked.

She nodded and gave the order. Soon, a maid approached, carrying a damaged but mostly intact robot.

Kanda inspected it carefully. On its body — specifically around the abdomen — he found a half-burnt talisman. The robot's structure was cobbled together from disposable materials, like old window frames used as makeshift shields.

"What do you see, Kanda?" Jack asked, noticing his serious expression.

"Well…" Kanda hesitated before continuing, "This robot uses an ancient technique to reinforce its body. That's why bullets barely phased it."

"Ancient technique?" Eris echoed, confused.

"I think it's because of this talisman," Durel said, pointing at the burnt paper on the robot's torso.

"That's right," Kanda confirmed with a nod.

"A talisman?" Aoi asked, peering at it.

"Yes. But it's been modified to work with these robots. Though it's flawed which it is doesn't fully cover their bodies. That's why they're vulnerable when they touch the ground while walking," Kanda explained.

"How do you know about these talismans, Kanda?" Manami asked, intrigued.

"I once met someone very knowledgeable about all kinds of talismans," Kanda replied.

"Who?" she pressed.

"I'm sorry, but I promised to keep their identity a secret," Kanda said, his voice serious as he met her gaze.

They locked eyes for a tense moment before Manami finally looked away.

BAAMBAMBAAM

Heavy footsteps shook the ground. Everyone turned toward the sound. A massive shadow loomed behind the wreckage.

"What... is that?" Antonia gasped.

Emerging from the smoke was another robot — the same dog-like design as before, but now towering at a terrifying 10 meters tall.

The maids immediately fired their grenade launchers, aiming for the giant's leg which caused dust and smoke swallowed the giant.

"Did we get it...?" Antonia whispered hopefully.

"Antonia-chan, you just flagged us," Kanda said, glancing at her.

"Flag? What's that?" she asked, confused.

"Never mind... just watch," he said, keeping his eyes on the battlefield.

The dust cleared — and the giant robot stood there, completely unharmed. Beneath its feet were countless craters, but they hadn't slowed it down at all.

"We'll make a move to cover the maids for them to retreat," Kuune ordered as she looks at Eris, "Eris, engage that thing and call your Assistroids for backup!"

"Yes, Captain Kuune!" Eris saluted and dashed off, her Assistroids in tow.

Eris tapped the bell-shaped accessory on her chest. It glowed brightly, and a moment later, a giant toy-like hammer appeared in her hands — comically oversized but heavy enough to require both hands to wield. Her Assistroids were also armed with miniature toy hammers.

They charged the giant robot, aiming for its legs. Eris's hammer swung hard... but stopped midair, unable to land a solid hit. She tried again — same result.

"ERIS! FALL BACK!" Kanda shouted.

Obeying his word immediately, Eris quickly retreated from the robot.

"Why can't I hurt it?" she asked, frustrated.

"It's using the same kind of talisman as the smaller ones — but a stronger version," Kanda said grimly.

"So how do we beat it?" Manami asked, worried.

Kanda smiled confidently. "Don't worry — it's my turn now."

He stepped forward, tapping his earring. A brilliant light engulfed his body.

When the light faded, he was holding a slim black katana, the blade unsheathed from a scabbard adorned with golden dragon designs. The katana gleamed menacingly in the light.

"Wow! What a beautiful sword, Kanda-niisan!" Antonia gasped in awe.

"Thanks, Antonia-chan. Wish me luck!" Kanda said, gently patting her head before stepping forward.

The huge robot's footsteps boomed like thunder, each step shaking the ground beneath them.

MC narrowed his eyes and drew his sword in one smooth, practiced motion. The blade gleamed coldly under the moonlight.

The robot lunged forward, its massive arm swinging like a wrecking ball. MC didn't flinch. He shifted his body slightly to the side, the wind from the attack whipping past him.

CLANG!

With a sharp, decisive movement, MC slashed upward. His sword struck the robot's wrist joint, sending out a shower of sparks. The giant's punch faltered mid-swing, its hand twitching unnaturally.

Not giving it a chance to recover, MC dashed in. His sword became a blur as he aimed for the elbow, carving through the exposed cables and plating.

Screech!

The robot's arm detached with a heavy crash, falling uselessly to the floor.

It roared — a mechanical sound filled with static and rage — and raised its other arm for a final blow while on its belly suddenly opened and a large number of small missiles coming out from there.

MC didn't retreat but slowly focus his mind and looks at the missiles which starts to slow down in his vision before moving his body with nimbleness as he narrowly avoid those missiles.

As he stepped inside the robot's reach, avoiding the downward strike by a hair's breadth of its other hand. In one fluid motion, he drove his sword deep into the robot's torso, right between the armor plating.

Electricity arced around the blade as the robot spasmed.

With a twist of his wrist, MC wrenched the sword violently, rupturing the internal machinery.

BZZZT! CRACK!

The robot staggered backward, its chest caving in. It fell with a deafening thud, twitching once before going completely still.

MC pulled out his sword, flicking it clean in one sharp motion. He let out a small breath, muttering under his breath.

"It's my win, Jens."

The battlefield was silent, save for the sound of cooling metal and hissing steam.

"Let's go, everyone. We need to go inside as I need to rest right away as I'm really exhausted right now." Kanda said that to everyone where they just nods blankly at him before follow behind him.

On the other side, Jens coldly looks at the last image of the battlefield where she heard Kanda's words which she just coldly snort as a reply.

"It's my loss today, Kanda, but don't happy too soon. I will come back with greater force."

Said Jens before she looks at his assistant, Muttley and continues, "Muttley, arrange our troops immediately. It's time for the next plan. We will show to those cats people in how vulnerable are they when fight with us."

> [Of course, Jens. I will make an arrangement right away.]

Muttley replied to Jens as he snickers and his words had been conveyed on the screen.
