Feng Jiu took their small hands in hers and, as they walked, asked the servants for directions to Hao'er's courtyard, intending to see him first. Looking down at the two children beside her, she inquired softly, "Mother is taking you to apologize. Are you unhappy about that?"
"No," they both replied, shaking their heads earnestly. "Mother must be doing this for our own good."
